Purchased the Skyline fuse and faze combo. Cant get any better all you need minus the extra. Perfect cut ergo knees not baggy not tight. Just a great investment. Highly recommended.

I would add another item to this list and that’s a boot insole matched to your foot anatomy (I use one from Remind), it makes a big difference to have comfortable feet. Now it’s the Top 7.5 most important items.. 🤔

I was riding in the french alps (Meribel) at 3000m above sea level last week, was so warm I only needed a t shirt under my 3l g-tex jacket.

I agree, more often than not I skip the mid-layer even with a shell outerwear or tech hoodie. Or if I do, it’s a thin long sleeve lightly water resistant t-shirt over my thermal, just for comfort/aesthetics if I want to take my jacket off over lunch. Layering really depends on where you are. I prefer to be slightly cold and move to warm up, than too hot and sweaty. Or you take a rucksack for your layers, which isn’t’ ideal. A good facemask is the key.. it’s wind to skin that gets you.

I really like to use compression socks... the super tight and thin generic ones off Amazon or the like... Keep my feet just as warm as the thick socks...though I'm not out in -30* temps, so YMMV if you're out on that end of the spectrum... Also help my feet feel more connected to my boots (opposed to that feeling your foot is floating inside the boot with thick socks)... Can probably get 5 pairs for the same price as 1 pair of Burtons. If you haven't tried them, it's definitely worth a shot. Thanks for the info, Tribute!

Whenever I've bought a helmet, I'll bring my goggles to try them on the shop, and vice versa. Having a good fit between those two is so important. Got any thoughts on photochromic lenses? I got into photochromics a few years ago, when I bought a pair of Salomon goggles that were S1-S3 photochromic, and these days I own a high-end Julbo model that is S0-S4 photochromic. The contrast-enhancing tech is quite good on them, and I really enjoy the convenience of not having to buy and pack multiple lenses.

One aspect of socks that was overlooked is the quality of the cuff on top. Will the sock stay up when you’re riding all day, and will the sock retain that shape over weeks and months of washing? Look for a cuff on the sock that’s tighter or more compressive than the shin.

I got a couple Airblaster Ninja Suits and where they every trip to the mountain. The only question is what goes over them. I grabbed an Airblaster Insulated Freedom Suit over the off season and it's been great. No openings for snow to get in, warm [but not too warm] and lots of flexibility/movement. Great products.

I’m team ziptech, best world of bibs and pants. I will say AK stuff feels a step above in fit and finish, but not enough to counter ziptech. Love that you guys hit on the difference between merino and synthetic for skinning. I bought synthetic this year because the use case made more sense to have in the tool belt alongside merino. Now if we could just get some snow to go splitting on……

I used to love Anon helmets until I tried their Wavecell helmets. The tech is great but the weight of those helmets are so different compared to the MIPS rated Rodan or Oakley Mod Pro lines. Great video, love hearing inputs and opinions on what’s out there

I exploded on a banked slalom at Mt Hood Meadows last year because of extreme foggles. Blowing snow, waiting in line, then they froze up between the lenses right before my run with no time to change out the lenses before my run and rode by braille. Paid a good amount for those Marauder elite Spy's but they are not worth it. Any suggestions on the best googles for venting and anti foggle?

This felt a lot closer to “this is the nice stuff I get to play with because I run a board shop” than “this is why you should or shouldn’t pay for expensive kit, this is what it’s supposed to do”. I’m certainly being too picky, but I watch independently created content because of a bias towards informing vs selling.

I have comparable items to most of the stuff they show, minus the socks... I don't run a board shop... and I'm poor... buy last seasons gear or better yet, 2 seasons ago... consistently check those sites that you know list items at deep discounts (normally in low quantity so consistency is a must)... over a spring/summer, you can get a whole comparable kit for 30% of what you think it will cost.

I work in marketing in completely different business, there's lot of brands and money in it as well, but you know that's how she goes to put it this way. Sponsored content is part of our reality these days. My take on this is to always check the specs and if possible see/test the product hands on. Worst case - order, return if you don't feel it. It's an honest work to do these types of videos. It takes time and effort. I actually work with synthesizers, music machines. People get paid or mostly rather receive products via barter for the exposition online, how you actually verify the information you get is something you need to check yourself. I'm not the expert when it comes to snowboarding gear, but If I'm interested in something I check various content creators and influencers and somehow take an average out of what different people say online. Running a successful and working channel on KZread, especially one with global reach is really hard work, despite of what one might think. It's not like these guys just got these products in the mail, left the spliff in the ashtray and said fuck it let's push this to the cattle on the other side of the lense. Observe, think, sometimes risk, buy, experience yourself and then you might actually find people online who you can relate to and trust. But I can totally agree, there are many creators that I wouldn't trust at all. Brand managers have marketing plans and sometimes they are obliged to expose the product a lot, resulting in it getting into hands of creators with good reach but sometimes poor integrity. It's how it works. Retailers might focus on products which they have good margin on, "Independent" creators might have contracts or simply be on the payroll with some brands. My approach is not to overpay, wait for a bargain, test , and if I'm not happy, I consider my transaction loss as a moderate rental price. If you're passionate about something and you can afford it, why not?
