    I also put them in a spray bottle with water, shake it up to help them dissolve and spray it over the furniture.

    I do really like the smell of the Downy Scent boosters. Just given what all of the things are made of though the only thing I can think of is just residue throughout my washer/dryer and and filters. I use them sometimes. Not on the regular though, it stresses me out.

    Distilled white vinegar works great and it's dirt cheap.

    Hi Blake. I watched a video on how to make home made fabric softner. The ingredients were 1 cup baking soda and 3 cups white vinger with a few drops of lemon oil (optional) for adding a pleasant smell. Will it harm the washer like regular fabric softner? Thanks.

    I wouldn't be without my drier sheets. They are the best thing ever to place under the liner of your kitchen bin. If there is any leakage from the liner, they absorb the liquids and allow it to evaporate while keeping odours in check. As for putting them in my drier, NO WAY!

    I’ve heard of people using balls of foil in their dryer for static; doesn’t help with scent boosting though lol

    Great video. I will no longer be using scent beads as I have replaced fabric softener with that. I’ve heard a little vinegar in the rinse cycle is best to replace the fabric softener with and it helps to keep the washer clean. Your thoughts please?

    personally I'm a bit wary of vinegar, I tried it once in the washer and somehow my favourite pink top got blotches on it, which had not happened before, and I was left with a vinegary smell too a bit (we have a front loader...don't know if that had anything to do with it). The only place i would use vinegar is a top loader with a generous amount of water in at first and then dilute the amount of vinegar into it (+/- your detergents) and then it would work well, and rinse after too. 😊

    I use vinegar in both I put it in the softener spot and also the bleach spot my parents have very hard water so it doesn’t affect the washer to much.

    For over a decade, been spraying my clothes before they go into the dryer with white vinegar with just a few drops of essential oils in a quart of liquid. Does a great job of controlling static, and there is never a vinegar smell, just does a great job. And since the oils don't really add any smell---I don't want to use enough to scent the clothes for the reasons so well described above, I now rarely use the oils.

    I use the downy scent booster once every 2 months. The scent is too strong, so i use a little bit. I use way less than half of cap. One time I did the mistake and put in a full cap just like the commercial said, and my husband had a sneezing attack. I had to open all the doors & windows to air out my apartment. I had to re-wash my clothes like 6 times in cold water( no laundry detergent just cold water) in order for the scent to disappear. Use scented beads or boosters with caution.

    They can certainly be super strong! And for those sensitive to perfumes, I'd definitely use sparingly. We've accidentally used too much as well, and the scent stays with your clothes for a long time. Thanks for sharing your experience!

    I dont like very much of scented things. I dont use scent booster beads in my washing machine but I do use them in my vacuum cleaner bags when they start to smell. if you want a good refreshing boost, get Lysol laundry sanitizer, very gentle and nothing waxy

    I've just very recently found a scent booster I like but only use it on bed linen and towels as thats where you get the most benefit of the scent. The first brand to appear in the UK, Unstoppables, just smells like toilet cleaner - not interested. I deliberately don't use scent boosters on my clothes because I don't want the scent of those interfering with the perfume I wear.

    What about downy fabric refresh products? Are those better than fabric softeners?

  • @dirkda2451
    @dirkda24516 ай бұрын

    so the unstoppables are scented wax ? that doesn't sound to good for your clothes or machine, i use white vinegar in the fabric softener tray . i've use the balls in my Haier wash/dryer combo seems to do good job and i've added handkerchief with 2 or 3 drops of essential oil a few times with the steam/dry function .like you say it says in the manual to not wash clothes with flammable products on it. But i wonder what the standard is for that and how it came about? Cooking oil is flammable and i'm sure a lot mechanics clothes have oil greases and solvent stains on them it's pretty much part of the job of a washing machine dryer. So i'm wondering what the circumstances are where and when these products actually ignite in a washer or dryer think i'll be googling for a while to find that out .Just discovered your channel very informative and well made video i live Belgium in so we don't have all the same brands or appliances (like top loaders) and different voltage and hertz ,but i love al the advice and tips

    That's a good question about what it would actually take for oils to ignite! We're not sure exactly, but we like to play it safe. Glad you discovered us, hope our content is helpful!

    I use fabric softener - softener sheets - and unstoppables in everything I wash (except towels) and my machines are 10 years old and have had no problems and no smells. The dryer actually started squeaking this week so I plan to replace it soon. I do maintain them religiously however.
