What To Look For When Buying A Used Bmw E60 535D

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

in this video we will go over the common problems when buying a used bmw e60 530d and 535d and all of the things that go wrong and why people sell these after owning for such a short time we use here a prime NEGLECTED example for this video which im still believing this car has been in the wrong hands but I show you how a BAD condition e60 can really look like compared to my 530i which is like showroom condition

Thank you for your comment. I really wonna buy 535d and never had bmw. Asking everyone about them and everyone says different. Someone told me bmws are the cars that need money spending even if you had them just parked at front of your house . I have honda and as all we now she is bulletproof now wonna try German car. I probably will buy 535d

@@r.b1288 If you want reliabilty stick with Honda. My mother had Honda HR-V and basicly done nothing except oil change and had to remove rust from one place. I bought 520i E39 and i had a lot of problems with it to be honest, but i really liked it nonetheless 😂. Both cars have been sold already, and i'm thinking about e60 535d pre LCI as a next car for myself, but i'm afraid of all electronic problems of new generation of 5 series. I'm still thinking what to buy i still have over one month to make my mind 😀

Another great video Dean, no bullshit, fast talking for maximum info in short time. I'm had om642 merc engines for many years, what do you think of these? Looking for a decent 530d or 330d msport or SE if it's nice enough. You said about dpf removal if I blank off egr? Is that always the case on these engines. I'll be doing flaps and breather, and a few other bits you mentioned. Another thing how do I know if it's a m47 or n57 if I buy a 2008 530d or 330d ? Different cc or tax band? Thanks in advance mate

Had the same on my E60 530i M54. The MPM in the trunk was the culprit. Water had corroded the pins. Cleaned the pins and haven't had that issue for 1 year already. I simple mod to prevent from happening again or in the 1st time is by relocating the MPM and parking modules on top of the spare tire or on one of the wheel wells.

Or are you buying it to remap it to be like the rest of the world and grenade the problematic gearbox on both the 530d and 535d as they don’t like remaps these cars are built for people to travel to and from work on motorway that is it If you want something powerful and fast 335i it has to be mate Do not buy a diesel for the wrong reasons I been shattering dreams and making peeze on here and saved a lot of people from buying the diesel for the wrong reasons so far I have managed to sell in the U.K. 30...... 335is over the diesel which people are moaning to me about running costs but what do you expect it’s a bmw !!!! As I tell them sorry you was about to buy a diesel for powe and remap what isit because it’s more unreliable Welcome to the real world of bmw bmw is unreliable and learn to spend big money that’s how bmw is so I tell you this buy 335i and enjoy but you better have another car as spare car as it breaks and breaks a lot but makes insane power as standard

Josh Renowden it is mate yes but it comes with its consequences as they slow the rate of fire of the injectors and up the turbo pressure which in turn destroys the injectors as they ain’t pushing hard enough to clear the crap out and then it destroys the turbo from spooling to fast all the time That’s how I knew you wanted it remapped a lot of people only want these for THAT reason Mate you don’t need diesel if your doing exhibitions in London excel in always there I have petrol cars and drive from the south west down to London every week with no issues £65 full tank and I get to London with a quarter left that’s what a diesel will do anyway no difference Or get 550i better performance all round

Close to 300bhp and plenty of toqrue. Not sure why you consider that “ slow “ but the car doesnt need a remap anyway… i think its one of the best diesels you can buy provided you actually bother to take care of the car lmao 😂

@@BMWDoctor yes, exactly also to include common failures. Rather than fixing it correct, fix it enough to work (for now) so that they can look good driving down the road. Personally, I prefer a correct repair 1st and formost. I did grow up learning old schools modifications for power, but those also mean more common and sooner failures than normal. 323i is peppy enough for me stock.

@@BMWDoctor I love 5 series, and fuel economy is starting to become an issue here so my best bet is to work for a year or two and get an E60 Diesel. Probably a 525d though because it's almost impossible to find a 535d or even 530d around here as Road taxes are insane. In the mean time I'll be taking care of the E39, however I've been thinking about putting an M57 in it if the local laws allow it as it is a petrol on paper and not a diesel.

Ahh yes the E60. The M5? V6? Or the delicious V8?..personally id stay away from the M5. Thats just my PERSONAL opinion..i love the 550i. And think they are alot tougher..and reliable, when your in a tight situation. But if you are willing to overhaul, the coolant system and water pump.. The valley pipe, the knock sensors, the front control arm units and bushings, and transmission filter housing if you buy one possibly ask owner last time any of these was done? And you will exactly know how the car was treated ..

Well you have the N54 or N55 petrol ! More reliable. It ain’t what it’s made out to be can you afford the maintenance and do you have a sore car ? As turbo BMWs are off the road more then on the road consider them a weekend repair car which you can enjoy for a few days before more repairs come. If you don’t want that I wouldn’t buy a BMW and can you handle all the electronic failures on the car ? As the electronics always fail and you need to know how to replace program and encode it properly. Why don’t you buy a Ford eco boost ? Or a Mercedes AMG twin turbo much better and reliable
