    I graduated with a BSN from State University in 2019. Before my nursing academic career. Motivation can be different things to different people. I was a Boxer. After being a pro athlete in a contact sport with 46 fights. I was internally programmed to get up from off the canvas to win. This was just part of my DNA. Bringing this back to Nursing, my last Clinical was a Gerriatric rotation. We had an Instructor with an ICU background. She failed me strictly over one nursing care plan. As, all of you out there probably realize. There is more than one way to correctly write a Nursing Care Plan for your Patient. This Clinical Instructor thought I wrote the NCP in a way she wouldn't have written it. So she failed me on the rotation. When I had passed all other Clinicals, Theory courses, in my 5th semester (before last semester 6). During our conference at end of Clinical. She explained, she would be giving me the (NC) grade with a smirk on her face. I looked at her, and said, "this is a mistake. See you at graduation" and her eyes opened wider. "Nothing can derail me from my destination". I appealed and took an additional Med Surg Clinical choosing nothing but elderly patients with a different Clinical Instructor. Who had more experience teaching (not a part time Clinical Instructor). In addition to carrying the full load of last 6th semester. I passed with flying colors, graduated at scheduled time of my graduation at admission into State University Nursing program, and this part time Instructor didn't even show up at my graduation like all other Instructors. Adapt, adjust, and survive at any cost. I promise anyone. If you have this mindset. You will prevail by motivation LMAO 🎓 😆

    I just did my first 12 hour shift in my final semester of nursing school. Pre-grad and I feel very overwhelmed by the unit. It's a general medicine floor with emphasis on Respirology. My previous placements have been in a less acute settings (spinal rehab, stroke unit) with less tech. I'm just worried that I wont be able to absorb everything in time and I'll end up missing something. My worst fear is that my patient suffer from my mistake. It's hard to lean on anyone as I am the only male-student on the floor. I feel very stressed out while on shift. Any advice? Thanks.

  • @NurseBass

    @NurseBass

    7 жыл бұрын

    My advice is this: You won't absorb everything. It is what it is and that's the nature of Nursing School my friend. But that is okay; it's normal and expected. Just absorb whatever you can, enjoy the experience and the exposure to the new things you might see. And take what you can forward with you. The majority of what you're going to learn for your job as a Nurse will literally be 'on the job.' :D

    Did you do a 2 year program or a 4 year program? Or what do you recommend? I'm looking at the local community college's RN program then getting my BSN online after.. or just going to a 4 year school and going straight to BSN. I don't know which to do, there are pros and cons of each one.

  • @NurseBass

    @NurseBass

    7 жыл бұрын

    I'm currently completing my ADN. In my personal opinion, if I were you, I would go straight for the BSN. Because you'll have to get it eventually anyways, so that's the route I would go. Unless you've already completed your pre-reqs. If you have, then it's really whatever feels right to you and works with your financial situation, time frame, etc.

    Relax bro and just breathe! I was fairly decent in math in highschool, but forgot everything by my 2nd semester of college when I took my math course. Start studying math right now from videos here on KZread. Definitely know conversion problems, adding, mult., subtr. and dividing decimals and fractions and how to convert decimals to fractions to percents. It's honestly maybe intermediate school math. You'll be fine if you start preparing TODAY and doing a little every day. You got this brah!
