Attended my first meeting last night. Was oblivious to how the whole process functioned. However I had some really helpful club members that took me by the hand and walked me through it. I'm excited to get rid of my nervous overtone everytime I speak in front of five people or more. I can hear in my own voice when this happens, I wonder if anyone else can?

So glad there were awesome club members to help make you feel welcomed. I think the nervousness you're describing is quite common, and I truly think Toastmasters will help you get past this... it may take some time, but stick with it.

I suffer from chronic anxiety. Although i have been told TM can help me with this I have not seen anything special in the program that addresses people like me. They have suggestions for the average nervous person and those that are shy. What are they going to do when I freeze like a deer in the headlights and not say a word because I can't speak from the fear?

Thanks for your comment. Each Toastmasters Club is a little bit different (they follow the same structure, but the individuals in the club make it what it is). I would be transparent with the club president about the challenges you face with anxiety, and search for a club that reinforces positivity. I do believe Toastmasters can help; the more repetition and practice you have speaking in front of people, hopefully the easier it gets over time. From my experience, most clubs I've attended have been helpful for everyone, regardless of their level of speaking ability. I hope you get a similar experience.

Hello Wayne I'm at the top of doing a roll of Sergent of Arm wow speak to Inspire gave me that roll and I took on that roll. I get to speak more on the roll. It's a big roll to take on. 😀😃
