For real. Its only a great place if you are wealthy, white, and attractive. I went with a group of friends after school to one of these trendy bars and was so out of place in my jeans and Old Navy top, chubby brown woman.. Super awkward.

It's a great place to live...but please realize, it's this sunny for like 2-3 months a year...it is super overcast and different levels of rain most of the year, which is awesome for people like me. And if you want to move here...PLEASE don't do it without having a job first. Can't stress this enough

You're right. I was thinking about moving to Oregon, but if it rains to much, it's not worth it. I'm a cyclist so I would hate to deal with that.

BaconCrispyPDX I disagree. It’s usually partly cloudy. We get enough sun and it doesn’t rain as often as you must feel it does. When it does rain, it rains a lot, though

Right on information and good advice.

good thing they didn't mention voodoo donuts. For anyone visiting our city, voodoo is a waste of time. Mediocre donuts after an hour of waiting in line. Guys, it is literally pieces of cereal on a donut. Waste of time. Go to salt and straw or one of the many hip little restaurants after a tiring hike in the gorge: that is a good day. Trust me, I've done that more times than I can remember. It never gets old.

Truth. I literally only go to voodoo too at like 11pm in the middle of the week because there is like no line. And even then I only go like once a year because their donuts aren’t that great.

I originally lived in a small town in Oregon and it was incredibly stifling by its small minded values and no tolerance for being different. Then I visited Portland and it was the most freedom I felt in being myself. I'm hoping that one day, I will live there and can thrive off of my individuality

It's true! As a California native living in Portland for 3 years, I can vouch that everyone raves about the kindness of the people here. I imagine it's about the same as any liberal metropolitan area though, except this one is full of natives who will judge you based on where you are born, and actually treat you different because of it. Is this not a form of (albeit minor) racism in itself? Did all of you natives choose where you were born? I really don't get the hate. We took your jobs and drove up your rent? Come on. Maybe just build a wall around the city? This is in the same racism spectrum as Trump vs the Mexicans, no?

FYI to everyone looking to move to Portland: -The job market is terrible. -The renting/housing prices are terrible and getting worse. -The people here preach open-mindedness, but a lot of them are part of insufferable cliques who don't want anything to do with you. Visit here. If you love it, sure, move. Just give it a second thought if you don't. Also, I'm disappointed that the video ignored one of the best things about Portland: The fact that it has the most strip clubs per capita. What, no expose about Sassy's?

Portland is so vibrant and magical. I'm a native Oregonian but have only lived here in The Rose City for the last year and a half and I can't imagine living anywhere else now. Wow the place looks amazing! We drove straight through Oregon at the end of our "lads road trip" and didn't get to see it. It's high on my list of to-dos now!

I remember playing in the fountains when I was little during the summer

lived in a few places around PDX/pnw from the 80s to mid 90s...if i didn't have grandkids/family elsewhere..i'd be back in flash..best place i ever lived

FYI If you are visiting Lang Baan make sure to reserve your table 2 weeks ahead, small place crazy popularity impossible to walk in. Also Screen Door has great buttermilk fried chicken but they are usually pretty busy too. Around 1 to 2 hours wait for dinner.

Portland is hipster land. On every corner there is a vegan startup coffee shop infested with bearded men wearing beanies working on their macbook's. Don't get me started on the reclaimed wood 😂

I live not too far away from Portland (Hood River Valley) and I think that, among great culinary experiences in Stumptown, Stepping Stone Cafe deserves a mention!

I was there last summer. Its a great city!

Wow - I lived in Portland from 2001-2014 and none of the businesses noted in this segment existed until afterward. I always consider PDX to be the "great incubator" for ideas, creative, small businesses and advanced urban planning - I hope some of these last so when I next visit I can stop in!

I'm a native Portlander and we have a really high rate of depression here due in part to the weather. It's cloudy, gray and rainy most of the year. Just keep that in mind if you are susceptible to depression.

Portland is lovely

getting stabbed by one of the many tweakers freely walking the streets, getting harassed by the homeless, or sitting in traffic for hours on end are some of my favorite things to do.

Dream of the 90's is alive in Portland!!! Ps, I'm glad they glossed over Voodoo Doughnuts! There's way more places than just voodoo doughnuts. I like voodoo doughnuts of course, but there's so much more

As a Portland resident, I can say I’ve done all of these.

I've lived in Portland since I was 1 and while things are far from perfect I love my city and I'm not considering moving

I lived here since 98 and still am. I love the geography of the PNW. It is growing and with the good things comes the bad things like increase in rent, traffic, tweakers and homeless camps. A very diverse race and cultures. Lots of bars/strip, hippies, a variety of stores/restaurants and marijuana dispensaries.

Portland is very nice place to living and travel

I'm defiantly visiting soon

In just last 3 years Portland traffic, homelessness, and housing prices have become acute problems. The fancy-free attitude of this video is counter to much of the feeling in the City now. Portland is wonderful - but it faces forces that threaten to overwhelm it. There are not enough roads, beds, or homes for average people. The rate of change is stunning. If you move here with money, please bring a sense of responsibility and help us. If you move here poor - God help you.

Why everbody bashing about Portland? I was there as a tourist from Switzerland and I found it beautiful, of course there were homeless, but you have that in Zurich too...

I wanna move to either Portland or Seattle!!

Living only 10 minutes away from Portland, Oregon I've grown up going there on a daily basis. Come visit us, but please reconsider moving because it looks "beautiful and fun". Sure it is! but rent is incredibly high, work is hard to come by (if you don't have a job) homeless camps and people are all around Portland. Not to mention the weather is great for 2 maybe 3 months a year. Otherwise it's mostly overcast and rainy. Like it's a great place to visit! Don't get me wrong! I love Portland but these travel videos only show the best of the city. Not the hidden reality.

Definitely love it here, but enjoy the bigger city feel of Seattle. Wait to move here in 15 years if you want a big city feel. Portland still feels like a big town.

My advice to anyone coming here, 1 go the the east side, 2 go to Reel M Inn get the fried chicken 3 drink a PBR with said chicken. Your welcome

I wish someone would do a virtual tour of all the bike shops here. That's 95% of the reason I want to move there. The bike culture. Although they could learn a thing or two from the Netherlands. Like bicycle parking garages.

I live in Portland and those were definitely some of the best places to go but there are way more places in Portland

I have lived in Portland my hole life and done 1 of those things! Because there is so many better things like all of our cultural gardens or our hikes. If your looking for something to do in Portland ask a Local they will tell you what to do. P.S GO TO VOODOO DONUTS!

To all you guys what do you think about all the downers who are like "DONT MONT TO PORTLAND" in the comments. I wanna live about 15 or 20 minutes from portland in a couple years, it's kind of my goal. Why are people saying not to move there?

Sadly, having lived in Portland since 1983, I've only been to Voodoo donuts once, never to Pip's or the Woodblock chocolate - I need to get out more. :p

I'm from the Portland area and it's honestly not that great. I'd recommend moving to Oregon because it's a beautiful state but Portland isn't very interesting.

I love it; the southern cross is a comforting sight, feel safe seeing it in every neighborhood.

I grew up 18 miles west of Forest Grove. I wouldn't live in Portland if you paid me. I live in Mount Vernon ,Washington now. Far up from Seattle too.

Get mugged if you’re in that situation now. Use to sit in that bench at 3:00am. Smelling the roses. 70s. Rode my bike all the way from Gresham.

Portland is the best city to skate in. I do it every day

I have another Tip. Try not to get killed.

this video only helps if ur a hippy or wierdo, theres alot of cool places something for everyone really.. i perfer the east side myself but downtown is fun for short visits... ne portland has changed alot very cool now, se hawthorne bellmont cool areas.. if ur older and dont like crowded places check out mcminamins edgefield wayy out east.. its awesome one of my favorite places around the city. come, visit, enjoy, go back home,, lol its definitely over populated latly fyi...

I live here have for 42 years now. Its not all its cracked up. The grenery beautiful. The culture isnt thrilling. Homless. It was so much nicer 35 years ago.very neat.

Show people the real Portland.

Live near Portland, been there plenty of times, never heard of one of those business. And they didn’t talk about the negatives and all the homeless people.
