I'm so happy to see someone be positive and adventurous in this city. We have visited many times in every season.
Just for the record, Oregonian never use Umbrellas, it's like we just don't use them

Which was the place with the red lights on the ceiling? @ 10:50
It does rain a lot in Portland, but it's usually a light rain, so most people don't use umbrellas. The average year only sees about 4 inches of snow, with many years getting nothing. When I lived there, I rode my bike year round and didn't wear anything but hoodies and wind breakers.

I just got back last night from a 9 day vacation in Portland! 3 of us met at PDX, rented a car and stayed in an air bnb, with the exception of the first 2 nights at The Ocean Lodge in Cannon Beach. Late April was still chilly and we experienced rain, snow, sleet, sun and even hail. It was an amazing trip. We drove about 1200 miles but saw Cannon Beach, Tillamook Creamery, Rockaway Beach, Astoria, Columbia Gorge, the Hood River, Vienta state park, the Japanese Garden, Mt Hood, Crater Lake and Bend Oregon. Finished up and flew out of PDX yesterday. Walked and hiked over 30 miles, it is definitely a trip to take. Bend is a fun, newer town with lots of food and shopping.

must be nice.. you've seen more of Whoregon in 9 days then I've seen in 10 years.. guess that's what I get for seeking asylum in USA as opposed to Europe. Just hope I get to go live and die for Ukraine then joylessly exist in Porkland, waiting for death. I've given this town my best years, and they've been wasted on this urbanized landfill.

if you are if you are looking for a place with free parking The only one I know of is the Residnice Inn near the Airport. But be a little carful becuse the parking lot is not coverd and keep valubles our of site just in case. If also has free hot brekfest. And if you do wont to go somewher I would reconencd Max it will get you to most atractions in the city in about 20 to 30 minits.

You’ll absolutely love all of the decor and makeshift homes right off the freeways entering Portland! The boarded up windows and graffiti offer a calming vibe throughout the city. For good evening entertainment, head to the justice center or ICE facility when the sun goes down!

@@andretokayuk8100 They are saying the freeways are heavily lined with tents of homeless people. There are human feces and drug needles on the sidewalks. A lot of businesses in southwest downtown are boarded up, and have been since the riots in 2020 or so.
So what it’s not safe to own a car in America?? I thought America 🇺🇸 was the greatest place on earth 🌍 but I keep hearing bad things, mainly homeless people & car break-ins etc
I lived in Portland for over 26 years. The food scene is one of the best in the country. Powells is awesome. The scenery is awe-inspiring. Homelessness and the accompanying filth is out of control. The Oregonians are rude and unwelcoming. Theft is effectively legal. Oregonians don’t worry about the rain. That’s all I know about that.

'Oregon-born' Oregonians are not. You speak of the transplants (people moving to Oregon from other states) - specifically 'Central & Southern Californians' claiming to be Oregonians when they are anything but.
@joanreynolds955

@@mercedes2747 The opposite is true. Like I said, I lived in Portland for over twenty-six years. That’s more than long enough to form a valid opinion. When I first moved to Portland, the cashier at Stadium Fred Meyer let one of his friends cut in line ahead of me. Twenty-six years later, As a was preparing to move to Arizona, I had Oregonians telling me to hurry up and move, I had no right to live in Oregon, et c. The same things I had heard for years. As a parting gift, the movers stole $12,00 in checks, two handbags, my late mother’s college class ring, my late father’s wedding ring, and more. The Hillsboro police gave no shits. I only worked, paid my taxes, and I don’t even litter. Oregonians are Ike,

@@joanreynolds955 - You are not wrong only slightly eschewed in your definition of a certain 'type' of Oregonian. You may have lived there 26 yr.s but I was born & raised there (now aged 43). These 'transplant Oregonians' have been making their way to my homeland, mostly from So. Cal., for more than 30 yr.s. The transplanting of palm trees is evidence enough.....but the root/core of this problem goes back much further, & well varied - Further back than even before the inception of our precious nation.

Who recommends that somebody take an umbrella to Oregon. Clearly somebody who isn't from there. That's just setting people up to get tons of side eye and embarrass themselves.

What to Know Before You Go to Portland, Oregon. As a Portland resident for over 55 years I will tell you right now DON'T BOTHER unless you want to get robbed, shot, stabbed or murdered. Oh don't bother with the umbrellas it makes you stand out as a tourist and just increases your chance of being robbed, shot, stabbed or murdered.

If your going to Portland arm yourself....
Portland is the worst part of Oregon. Recommendation is to fly into PDX, get a rental car, drive either west or east, or southeast for at least 30 miles. Then you are in Oregon.

Stay away from high-crime areas. We went there several years ago. It is very beautiful. But now I would never go there. The high crime rate and homeless people have caused Portland to die. Same as Seattle. Businesses are leaving these towns. Same for San Franisco. We always wanted to go there but not now. We were in California three years ago, but we stayed away from San Francisco because of the high crime rate and other problems.
