    I just wanted to thank you guys for your video's the last time i worked on a car stereo was 1985, when amps and kickers were the new thing, almost in my 50's now and i have forgotten all my knowledge about installing, watching your videos helped me install my pioneer 4200 nex with amp and set of kickers, I almost feel like a 17 year old turning up the volume on my old 80's jams at the red light making heads turn !

    You guys are awesome, I'm doing my first install with a Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX in a 2009 Tacoma, and that damn blue/white "System Remote Control" and stupid long green "Parking Brake" wire were driving me nuts. I'm using a PAC Radio Pro 4 RP4.2-TY11 and there are way too many connectors, and the documentation isn't great. Very much appreciate the short video.

    +Five Star Car Stereo I've got a question, though. the power harness in this video has outputs for all four speakers, as you mentioned... but then what is the purpose of them, since the AVH-4100NEX has RCA-speaker outputs on the back of it built-in? is it redundant?

  • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    The wires on the plug are the amplified high level outputs( 50watts x4). The RCA's on the back are the low level outputs for add on amplifiers.

    First, let me say that I love your videos, they’re so helpful and straight to the point! Secondly, I’m having an issue installing a Pioneer AVH-W440NEX in a 2007 911 with the Bose system. The previous owner removed the factory amp and had an old Kenwood installed. I have everything hooked up but the subwoofer and the amplified antenna. The sub, they had a pair of RCAs coming out of the old hu with a Y splitter and had one end plugged in and the other stripped and hooked to the Kenwood power ant. wire. I’m assuming for the remote amp signal but I can’t get it to work with the new remote wire on the pioneer harness the same way they had it hooked up. What gives?

    Hey guys, great video! Few questions on a 2009 Jeep Wrangler that has / had the basic OEM audio setup, not the infinity pre-amped one... Trying to install a 4201NEX Red wire (accessory) - What & where should I hook this up to on my jeep? The OEM audio plug doesn't have a corresponding red wire, only the yellow (power) & black (ground). Only other wires on the OEM audio plug I couldn't account for was an Orange wire w/ white stripe and white wire w/gray stripe (a person on a forum told me those were can bus wires whatever that means) Purple wire w/white stripe (reverse wire) - should I hook this up to the reverse lights positive wire? If so should I hook the camera up to the same reverse light wires, to feed it power? Lastly, Orange wire w/white stripe (Dimming wire) - should I hook this up to? The positive of my running lights so the receiver knows to dim? Thanks very much!

    Hello Guys , great video , I have a Pioneer KEH - P103R , & you have successfully explained to me what most of the wires are for , however , I,m a little confused as to what to do with just 3 single wires , these are a plain blue , tagged AMP , a plain brown , tagged TEL , & a pink , not tagged at all , this installation is to replace a worn - out KE 6300 in my cab , I don,t have rear speakers at all at present , would running this unit without the feeds & returns for the rear speakers actually connected to anything damage this unit ,? if it makes any difference to the wiring designations I,m in England . Any advice gratefully received , Thanks .

    Hello, love your videos guys! But I have some trouble connecting a reverse camera up to my pioneer avh-x3700, the camera should be wired up to one long yellow rca video input, that i am supposed to connect to the brown input for camera on the back off the HU. (that i understand how to do) BUT then for the power I need to connect a ground at the back near the reverse light(ok aswell), and also a positive power cable, which is supposed to connect to the reverse light power switch. I can't seem to find/have that on my Golf MK5 2006. There is only a reverse light on the right side of the car, and this one has a plug/adapter with one white and brown cable going in it. Shouldn't either one of these be ideal to get the power to switch on the camera for? (I have a multimeter I could try and measure if I get any volts from them?) OR should I be using the purple REVERSE cable that is at the back of my pioneer? Thank you for answer,I just can't figure this out.. :D

  • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    Ok so here is what you want to do - run the yellow RCA, ground the camera in the rear, run the camera power up to the radio and connect to the acc power behind the radio( red), then connect the reverse light wire to the purple/ white behind the Pioneer radio. The camera needs power when the car is on so you can activate it from the screen. The purple/ white needs power to trigger the radio to switch the radio to reverse view. There should be a Black/Blue +wire in the drivers kick panel in the harness to the rear for reverse. Hope this helps

    +Five Star Car Stereo Inc. So i should connect the red positive from the camera to the red acc power behind my pioneer. - Then the reverse light to the purple/white. Is the reverse light wire then the brown or white that comes from the light plug? - The black/blue wire is that is in the drivers kick panel which is the resting plate on the floor for the left foot? And then connect that wire again to the purple/white behind the pioneer? Have I understod it correctly?? :S

  • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    +kristoffer3110 yes on the power. The kick panel is the side of the car next to were your foot rests. Use either the black/blue or the wire from the light not both. Connect that to the purple/white. I would try to find the wire in the kick going to the bulb may not have enough current in that car, it may need a relay if I remember right.

    If the remote wire( blue/white) is not giving you power back at the amp you may need a relay. The relay on the remote will up the amperage for multiple turn on leads. Pioneer has a breaker on there remote wire if the amperage draw is to high.

    Hey guys. Thanks for some GREAT videos. I'm upgrading my jeep system and have followed a lot of your advice. Hoping you can help with this simple question. I have a 5 channel alpine amp. I ordered a 4 gauge amp wiring kit. It only came with one set of RCAs. Should I buy additional RCAs for the rest of the speakers? Or can I just use speedwire and connect that to the head unit speaker outputs and back to the amp? Just unsure if I can do this or if I need to buy additional RCAs. Also if the RCAs provide better signal. Thanks again.

    Thanks!! So when I hook up the RCAs, do I need to disconnect anything on the harness? I plan on running new dedicated speaker wire from the amp to my new speakers. I'm thinking I just leave the harness as it is because I'll be disconnecting the wiring at the speakers and connecting new wire from the amp. This is what's confusing to me. Lol. If I use the RCAs on the back of my radio to send the output signal to my amp, do I then need to disconnect the speaker wires from the harness or just leave that alone. Hope this makes sense. Thanks again.

    Thanks for sharing your video on what esle can be done with the violet/white of the two lead wires that's supposed to be connected to the back lamp terminal that has a voltage change when the gear is shifted into REVERSE and the light green wire that's supposed to be connected to the power supply side of the park brake for detecting the status of the park brake... Where as the answers are readily available in numerous different videos on utube and elsewhere over the internet by searching "pioneer wire harness hook-up" it's not easy at all to find information/answers on which pin terminal hole of the wire harness these's color coded wires belong. It's evidently assumed that people will always order a new correct wire-harness rather than add two or three extra wires to the one they might alrady have on hand for expediency purposes... If you want to be real heroes be the first guy's to do something that no one else has done yet. Namaste'

I learned...after finding my power antenna would not extend... that the solid blue wire had to be added to the matched blue-white to form all three together before the antenna went up when car was started or radio was turned on. Now... have tunes with a strong signal. Also... when looking into the settings, I am old school and hunted for "Fade". What I seem to have found was the word "Position" which seems to be what FADE was. Now ...after making the settings... good sound.

    great videos! thank you for sharing them. I am attempting to install a pioneer avh-x1500dvd into my wife's Toyota camry. I was wondering what the difference is between using the actual harness speaker wires or using the rca jacks in the back of the unit? My Toyota harness going to the new stereo has two sets of rca jacks wired onto it...

    Doug Braun if the car has a factory amplifier you would use the RCAs out of the radio. They are a low power output made for going into an amp. If there is not a factory amp, you want to use the speakers wire outputs. They are a high power output made to power a speaker.

    So this vid is a bit old, but I hope I'll get my answer. I bought a Pionner MVH radio and I wanted to hook up my antena, turns out i need ISO - DIN adapter which is easy to plug in but comes with a BLUE wire...While logic says "match blue and blue" the power cable harness doesnt have a BLUE cable, only BLUE/WHITE and BLUE/GRAY.. With the cable adapter that came with the radio, the only empty wire is the Sys Remote Control .. So is this where I plug it, based on this video? There is another cable harness that does have a blue wire leading into it, but it is not connected to the radio. I believe it was for the originals' CD player?

    The easiest way would be to just use RCA Y's but you will lose a lot of signal. Some amps have an in and out RCA for this type of install. Some amps also have a 2 channel 4 channel switch for this install too.

    I have a 2009 Dodge Journey and it has a sort of Shark Fin antenna, but has the stick that screws into it. Factory radio did ok with FM reception, but the new Pioneer radio does bad. Real bad! How do I know if I need the power antenna wire hooked up or not? I was thinking it was only use for the motorized antenna's and this one is not. So will it hurt it if I just wire it up anyways? Any help would be great. And thanks for the helpful video.. Much better than the user manual that came with the radio.

    If you still are having problems, here's what I did with my Honda. Most of those shark fin antennas and other modern antennas need a small amplifier to be used correctly. There should be two wires, the antenna wire, as well as the power lead for the amplifier. This needs to be connected to a 12v acc source or you will get horrible reception. Don't connect it to the remote antenna wire though, as this doesn't supply a constant 12v. I personally just connected it to the amp remote wire. It works perfectly now, and I haven't had any problems yet.

    So if you're hooking up a 12v amp remote wire to run to your amplifier, do you hook both the antenna adapter and the remote wire to the blue/white wire? Or should the amplifier be connected to the red wire?

    Love your guys channel! I had one quick question. I recently installed the Pioneer AVH-X4800BS with the pac rp5-gm11 wiring interface on a 03 Tahoe Z71. One thing I noticed after the easy install that I had lost some instrument lighting on the Dual zone climate control unit, which was never like that with the stock radio. All lights worked fine. From the stock Tahoe radio harness there is no illumination dimmer wire, but on the pioneer and pac harness(Orange/white) there is. Could this be the cause of the the lights going out on the climate control?

  • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    Draylon Livingston that car really should have a smart harness to work properly. The fix for what you have is connect the red wire to the power for the cigarette lighter. Then go into the trunk to the fuse box next to the battery. The fuse for the CL has 2 positions. 1 is key and the other is Constant. Factory is Constant you need to change it to key. It is in the middle of the fuse box and will be the only fuse with 3 holes the fuse is filling 2. Pull it and move to fill open hole leaving a new hole open.

    Hi guys Really love your videos. Very informative. I do have a couple questions though. I am installing an AVH-X7800BT in an 06 Town and Country. I plan to install a backup camera as well as an Amplifier and Subwoofer. I also purchased the brake bypass. Since I have hooked up the bypass to the blue/white remote wire so do I hook up the power control wire from the amp to the remote wire too? I am flying blind with my sub and amp since it is an old one and I don't have any real instructions for it. Next question is regarding the orange and white wire in the stereo harness. My vehicle installation harness only has a solid orange wire that the instructions say is illumination. The instructions also have an orange and white dimmer wire listed but there isn't one. Do I hook these together or what? The last question is regarding the "reverse gear signal input". Do I understand right that I should run a wire to a backup light wire and patch into that? Hope you are well and have a happy new year. Sincerely, Jim

    Jim Lapham thank you. Here we go- yes connect your amp and the bypass to the blue/white wire. Yes you can connect the orange and orange white together. Yes the purple white wire needs to connect to the reverse light feed. This may help. Color:white/lt. green Polarity:+ Location:BCM, green plug, pin 9 The BCM (Body Control Module) is in the driver kick panel near the parking brake. It has 5 plugs in it, one 6 pin plug and four 34 pin plugs. Yes we are definitely going to do those videos.

    No, you will get one pop up screen that says working in hybrid mode, press ok. The VSS wire is for back when navigation systems were not that fast and used the cars movement to help figure out were you were. Then Garmin and others figured out how to do it with out it, Pioneer still puts it in the harness for some reason. It has always caused us grief, so we do not recommend connecting it.
