Volos guide talks about the player versions having subtle snake traits like forked tongues & shifty eyes but it would be cool if every few long rest you’d shed. Imagine your party waking up to find a hollow husk where they saw you last and briefly freaking out. That would be as cool as getting a Hobgoblin video!

Don't be sorry for seperating them. We all know (at least most of us) how the YT algorithm work, and its simply better to have many mid-length videos than having 1 massive video. @@Thetruepianoman i figure that it could have something to do with the add revenue drop off the older a video gets. so with 1 long per month or 2 medium per month or 1 short per week you would use a graphing calculator with the 1/2 life formula to compare value/time, i lack the relevant statistics to do the plug and chug on the add revenue math. the graph tends to look like a sudden vertical line followed by a swoop sharply down slowly leveling off until the next cycle. i think you could turn off advertisers with the big spikes and long troughs in the graph, they tend to prefer throwing their advertising $ at folks putting out stuff like a 5 min video every day. this is a big cause of major you-tuber burnout problems for the 'professional you-tuber' crowd.

Y'know, after seeing this video for the first time, I decided that a crafty Yuan-Ti crafty pureblood named Quar'oon (kar-oon) would be the BBEG seeking to revive the ancient serpent-god. My players are slowly discovering the signs of the corruption being caused in the natural order. So far, they love it, and starting to piece it together!
I have a pureblood in my realms game. He's playing a celestial Warlock so I made his patron a Couatl. Most of previous party members haven't figured it out since I had him say any scales they find are a sign of his pact. I'm slowly working in the Sarrukh since some of the couatl in the realms were Sarrukh who stopped their evil ways and accepted to be changed.
God damn I love yuan-ti. My favorite npc I’ve ever made was a pure blood, pact of the tome, great old one warlock. His name was Sseth (cliche I know, but in my world most male yuan-ti are named Seth with more sss at the beginning) and his goal was to scout and leave coded landmarks for the Yuan-ti invasion of the surface world. The interesting part is that the yuan-ti invasion is planned to happen +1000 years from now. So Sseth plays the part of a neutral good adventurer, because that’s the easiest way to accomplish his goals. Of course, he’s actually a lawful evil slave of his yuan-ti masters. He will occasionally dig holes in the earth, and place random objects within. He will explain to his party that he is making an offering to the god, when in reality he is leaving cryptic messages to his future yuan-ti invaders. He’s basically leaving yuan-ti thieves’ cant

I mean, reptiles don't form social bonds and so don't really have empathy or feel love or whatever. It might not be that easy. Orcs, drow and other "classic evil" races have all had a turn around and have good aligned characters come from them. There is an expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2 called Storm of Zehir that explores the Yuan-Ti. Been so long since I last played it, but I remember liking them more than the Drow. It's most likely the human ancestors of the Yuan-Ti lived in a magocracy, with both eldritch & religious magic being particularly prized. The Yuan-Ti actively pursue Darwinism and were able to force their own accelerated evolution. So I think it's likely that only the 'best' of the initial human society were meant to survive the evolution to become Yuan-Ti (since most sources imply that the magic requires humanoid sacrifices). So 1) it's likely that several of the original humans already had a strong affinity for magic before they transformed, and 2) since it was magic that made the initial Yuan-Ti I think magic resistance is a justified trait for their descendants.

Great video! , i like a lot when lore gives a race a rich amount of details. Yuan-ti is an awesome race.
Maybe the two ideas, being pragmatic towards the gods and seeking to supplant them, could be reconciled by thinking of the two goals being carried by different Yuan-ti pursuing power via different means? After all, the Pureblood racial bonuses from Volo's apply mostly towards Sorcerer and Wizard rather than Cleric...

Gold medal goes to Rexx for making entertaining videos! And, because my wife's Yuan-Ti character is so awesome: (long brag about her character, skip if you want) Silver medal goes to my wife, for choosing a WILD interpretation of Yuan-Ti, making a (basically) Lawful Good Yuan-Ti Paladin who actually saves people. Hesster prefers non-human humanoids and exotic species, and sees humans as... not great. Also, she argues that slaves are actually "pets" and they must be treated well and be put towards GOOD work so they don't get into mischief or commit evil acts. Her tribe is definitely different from the other Yuan-Ti. Plus, she hates it when "pets" are cruelly mistreated, and has actively worked to end the slave trade within the Zhentarim - while also being aligned with the Zhentarim. It's been a wild campaign so far.
This is awesome! great video
Seems like a Yuan-Ti half blood Battlemaster would be a neat combo.
MrRhexx, I am running an on-going campaign based around the original Dwellers of the Forbidden City, the original module featuring Yuan Ti. As such they figure very importantly and are one of the main antagonists to my party. I have taken to giving them varying spell-like abilities from those listed - such as Charm Person, Change Self (especially for the Purebloods), Phantasmal Force, Charm Animal (Reptiles and Birds). I’ve kept the Polymorph Other ability for the Abominations to be used to create monstrous slaves and to be used in dark rituals to their alien Outer God.
Egg laying animals usually can't control their cycle. Chickens for example will lay an egg every single day as long as they're healthy and not overly stressed. Even if they aren't fertilized they still lay eggs, but those eggs won't develop into anything. Those are the ones people collect and eat.

I am interested in how the Yuan Ti made the OP magic books on the elven supermagics and Tier Magics.
I think as humans. They loved their gods and worship them sincerely if not fanatically. When they became yuan ti through the rituals of their gods. They gained the power they sought. The form they craved. At the cost of all their emotions and as such their love for their gods. So now as yuan ti they worship for power and power alone. With their God having canabolism as part of its function. So it's only natural that the yuan ti would view canabolism of their God as ascension in power even if it's very improbable

Icewind Dale had a lair of Yuan-Ti with like a multiple sword wielding abomination (Yxunomei, a Marilith Demon) that was incredible powerful and a ton of traps. Hows that not a thing in the lore? Some would assume their gods provide them with a bunch of Demonic help if they honor them.

A reasonable assumption since most of the beings the Yuan-Ti worship are demonic or 'elder evil'/primordial in nature (rather than celestial). Merrshaulk's divine realm was in the Abyss, one of the languages Yuan-Ti speak is Abyssal, and some Yuan-Ti consort with Demon Lords. Yuan-Ti in general tend to have a 'warlock' philosophy towards those they worship - it's a business relationship and they expect to receive tangible benefits...or else they'll shack up with some other Sugar Deity.
A yuan-ti pureblood would make a fascinating warlock build. Stealthy manipulator with high Charisma? That has so many possibilities
