What They Didn’t Tell You About Armwrestling Chalking

Спорт

Out of all the essential arm wrestling equipment, chalk seems to be the one that gets put on the back burner most of the time. As beginners, we are often introduced to the table and straps, but rarely, if ever, are introduced to chalk, at least on a deeper level.
However, like in most sports that use chalk, there are unique ways in which chalk is used in arm wrestling. Watch on to find out how to chalk for arm wrestling!

Hello again Jakob! Thanks so much as always for your kind message 🙏 I felt that since many of my videos are more open-ended, there would be some value in videos that also gave some specific and concrete arm wrestling tips too that people can implement. I’m happy to hear that this video provided you with some value. Always appreciate your comments and support 👊 - Greg

Haha yes, that is indeed a tactic people use (and one that I have used so myself), though a strict referee would call this out if they catch on (which has happened before).

I use John's tip of chalking only the finger tips and not the whole hand. You want the chalk to help you and not the opponent so chalk only the finger tips and some parts which you mentioned. Excellent video by the way. Really unique channel with ocean of knowledge and clear explanations.

That’s a cool tip from John! The problem I have when I don’t chalk my palm as well, is that there’s a huge contact point that gets left out and can make my hand slide down - the surface where my palm and the opponent’s thumb come into contact. Other than that, I feel like getting chalk on their thumb is especially important for those who intend to hold on and prevent your opponent from slipping as well. Just my two cents! Thanks a bunch for your supportive words man 🙌

Elbow and bottom of tricep too if your trying to post high

  • @EastsideArmWrestling

💪 one unintended bonus of chalking up the entire elbow to tricep area, is that in some instances, it makes it hard to tell exactly where your elbow tip is, letting you get away with minor fouls.

Good video. There is not much to say on chalk but it SHOULD be said to give a full view for a future competitor. You didn't add too much fluff. Just straight info at a good pace. I would only say additionally that modern chalk is mostly magnesium - meaning it is VERY safe for health ... maybe even good for health (but it is not the form of magnesium you want to eat ...) It also doesn't harbour ANY living organisms so you won't get wormy chalk or fungal chalk unless it gets wet first. I bought some a small box of it years ago - it will last me a lifetime. I vene gave some away lol. Good investment.

That's a great thing to learn about modern chalk man, thanks for sharing that! Also, I appreciate your positive comments about the video's pacing. I realize that many other arm wrestling educators tend to ramble a lot during their videos and don't get to the point (or even repeat the same points multiple times). I try to do away with that as much as possible since I understand viewer retention is important for videos. Thanks again for the good and constructive comment!

Wouldn't chalk make it harder to regrip or slip during the match? That seems detrimental to outside techiniques.
