I thought I was cool and had the little pod filters replacing the crankcase breather tubes on a 1980 cb750 until oil was leaking out of places where I know had good seals. I applied the concepts in this video and reinstalled the tubes and no more leaks. Thank you.

IT exactly happened to me. put smaller hose into the breather tube ( sporster 1200C ) to take the air and oil out but ended up having oil seeped out of all the gaskets around my cylinder. he is 100% correct.

Good info on crankcase breather! My 1978 750K Honda has a hose plug and recommends draining it periodically, which I do, and discolored yellow fluid drains out! Will now leave it unplugged! may be oil and water, but not sure!,,,,Thanks' for the video!!

Thank YT for recommending this video. I put a mini mushroom filter in the breather hose and drove my motorcycle until I reached 3000km and noticed that the engine oil levels decreased on the sight glass on my crankcase then I proceeded to change my oil. After 600km of riding with the newly changed oil it seems odd that the oil levels decreased again and I noticed that there's an oil leak in my crankcase just below the block. Now this video helped. Thanks.

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS Thanks I got it done. I have a Honda Cb750 1979 . With the heatwave, my engine was hitting over 200f if waiting in traffic. I figured the Crankcase hot fumes going directly into the combustion chamber could only make the engine hotter. Still using the airbox, the crank case input was plugged for now and the hoses went then to a filtered vent - that was smoking a little today. When hearing your logic. I froze your vid, and connected a nice segment of tube and directed it to follow the other waste tubes. As long as my wife does not complain about odors - Anyway - Thanks again - I subscribed, and you are featured on my youtube page under motorcycle mechanics - - ( ps - keep making the vids's - thanks - )

My question for you is do I remove the rear one and leave the front sucker plugged?

Thanks very much, you explained it very very easily and practical. Then I asked myself why people still install filters especially in very powerful or old fashioned bikes? By the way, my Honda CB300R's manual shows a pipe which goes down the frame which is closed with a tap and they advise to clean it periodically. Funny thing is since this seems to be a very important task to do frequently on a schedule like cleaning the chain and grease it, check oils levels etc. etc. So has anyone here a similar factory fit and did you take off the tap definitely?

TJ… Question. Why a hose at all? Like, do you know the design reason why that can’t just be a weep-hole or an open port, and why it instead needs a hose run down to the ground? EDIT: Just watched the second Crank Case Breather video. That breather box doesn’t just output air. It outputs particulates and oil that you don’t want blowing all over your engine and your crotch while you’re riding. That sound right?

It's should be in a good running bike such a faint fog of oil that it would just get sucked into the intake air charge and burn off as the bike runs. If this is happening I'd check your oil levels. Oil level can increase crankcase pressure and it will dump excessive oil in to the intake.

Funny thing, I understand it’s a vent to atmosphere. How come I removed mine and found a sponge and NOTHING but flat bare metal underneath lol I tossed it in trash bin

Just curious...... who in their right mind would deliberately restrict the blow-by?

A LOT OF PEOPLE. hence why i made this video. people put those crankcase breather filters on and then NEVER wash them. so they become full of oil and moisture essentially plugging the breather. if you want to run a little filter on there, thats cool, but you gotta clean it every few months. wash it with som,e simple green till it doesnt rinse dirty, dry and reinstall.

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS So, the EU regulations that vehicles should not be user-maintainable are justified. Legislation should reflect the weakest link in the chain... people, us mortals who know about blow-by/breathers and so forth should NEVER be allowed to even test and re-pump out tyres... in fact, perhaps us "mortals" shouldn't even be allowed to ride our vehicles in case we can't check the oils, coolant and other voodoo elements of vehicular maintenance that the dumb people don't know about.... Only the qualified, licensed, certified, regulated are allowed to even touch vehicles.... that's what it's coming down to.... If you block off blow-by then you need to be neutered - so you cant breed dumbness! PS... what a wonderful rant! 👍
