While good, I wish the franchise got some faithful remakes. Admittedly I only played Guerrilla, and while it is one of my favorite games, I can still see significant room for improvement with hindsight and today’s technology.

Just bought Red Faction the original today at my local game shop because I remembered when I was a kid my older brother bought Red Faction on the PS2 and I got hooked on it. I was really obsessed with the training option. I loved the fact that you were able to blow the walls. Super underrated collection.

guerilla was so good the damage wasn't just superficial it actually felt realistic in the way a building would collapse depending on where you weakened it. its worth playing again as it has been remastered on current consoles. im not sure why they didnt build on what they had with Armageddon, it wasnt anywhere near as good. there were a few franchises like this that started out great but fumbled the sequals crackdown/mercenaries come to mind. they all could have been great franchises now had they gone in the right direction

The PC Red Faction was so supported by the community. Privately hosted game servers, the map scene, iron sun, pure faction, 1.4 patch. All sorts of awesome it was being in that community

You miss 90% of all your shots and enemies respawn behind you even if nothing behind you is a wall! And later on the game they throw at you dozens of OP enemies and there are barely any health pick ups throughout the levels, and level design is atrocious and feels unfinished! How the fuck is this a good game?!

Best part is they gave the remastered version away free to PC players that already owned the original on steam. Shows a developer that actually cares about their customers and not just in it to make a quick buck by offering an upgraded texture pack. Still the best destruction in any video game to date!

Too bad the remaster does not seem to do anything special to make it worth buying again. While it might be one of my favorite games, I find it sad how little support the franchise gets, mainly from the publisher(s).

I have RF2 for the cube and was surprised at how good it was, even by cube standards.

The guns in 2 were great just the level structure and story failed at times.

I played so much red faction growing up, easily my favorite shooting franchises. Each game has such a unique story but they maintain the theme of class struggle and self identy between each title so well. I wish they would remaster the first 2 games and release them together.

I miss playing red faction with my bro on the ps2 when we were kids, they should make one that is just like the first ones but obv better graphics

Im glad that red faction didnt get bought by a company like ea or activision. They would add stuff like: pay $15 for a sledgehammer that doesnt break, or $20 for a better sledgehammer, and something like $30 stuff like XP and salvage boosters. And dont forget the lootboxes, gotta have those

Also love red faction guerrilla, but i recommend for people to play on casual for their first time playing, normal feels like your dying allot. Plus on casual, you can just destroy everything without much risk lol

Red Faction Guerrilla was fantastic! Armageddon not so much. Would love a sequel in the vein of Guerrilla though.

One of my favorite game ever! Played Red Faction: Guerrilla all the time on the 360. Now playing the Remarstered edition on xbox. Only problem is the multiplayer has no active players sadly, this needs to change. Would love to see a next-gen Red Faction game similar to Guerilla.

Why don't they try remastering/remaking the first game? Maybe expand upon the mining capabilities.

When playing the original Red Faction I always wondered what would happen if you continued to hit the elevator button near the end of the game. I always thought a big bad monster would show up. I remember a voice saying to keep hitting it. And that maybe the player would get a surprise.

I recently purchased red faction guerrilla remarstered on the switch. I had never played a red faction game before. It's very fun!

A new Red Faction and Destroy All Humans is most definitely what I'm looking forward to now. Whilst I appreciate the remasters they're releasing (Or Re-Mars-ters), I cannot wait to see a Geo-Mod 3.0. I'm a sucker for great physics in games, which is why I loved Hydrophobia. Hopefully we can keep THQ Nordic afloat.

If you're talking about Red Faction 1, there's a very active community of players on the RF Community Discord: rfchat.com If you're talking about Red Faction: Guerrilla (RF 3), we also have matchmaking roles on the community Discord for it to allow people to arrange games, and some people do play it occasionally - but as a warning, RF3 is _significantly_ less active than RF1, so finding a game is much more difficult.

I found the geo mod to be better In the first game for terrain destruction. RF2 and Guerrilla improved building destruction but lacked terrain destruction which I found to be the most interesting part of geo mod in Rf1 as you could tunnel, collapse natural bridges or build a stairs to try to get to top of some multiplayer maps

I never had the og red faction back in 2001 but I had the official prima walkthrough guide so I knew every level back to front even though I never played it 🤣

Best news is that a few years ago THQ Nordic acquired Deep Silver who own Volition Inc. (Creators and Developers of ALL Red Faction & Saints Row games... The 2 Series are more linked than you'd think actually 😂) and pretty recently THQ Nordic transferred the rights for Red Faction over to Deep Silver... No doubt so Volition Inc. can have their Series back now that all of these companies are under the one roof. Seriously when THQ was selling everything off I was soooooo pissed that Nordic purchased Red Faction when we already knew that Volition Inc. and Saints Row where moving to Deep Silver, they literally stole a still live and kicking Devs franchise and Nordic where super unknown and hadn't made ANYTHING good, like EVER 😒

We need another Red Faction game with updated Geo-Mod on top of Unreal 5 (if that's possible?).

red faction 2 had less destructibility than 1. multiplayer was no exception, while 1 had a limit to damage of the environments, 2 had almost none

I can only ever imagine a remaster of the first two games. I bought RF2 the other day on the Xbox, going in with so many fond memories it did seem very short lived. The story line is very good for it's time but obviously going back to it was very different as a 25 y/o and the controll schemes for Xbox is so confusing for when you play Battlefield or COD then play it, it can seem very disorienting

Change the setting to an Amazon Warehouse... and the mysterious disease to Covid and you'd have quite a realistic game.

i loved red faction armageddon as a kid, the idea of being able to repair something just by putting your hand out with nanites was just such an amazing concept to me as a kid. that on top of being able to destroy stuff you came across made the game almost perfect in my eyes. Looking back at it now though i recognize the story wasn't to good but ehh, didn't care then dont care now.

@Vox Populi yes. It was amazing. The first one was set up starting in a prison. The second one was set in a city. Awesome brutal games. They were really atmospheric. Could play in 3rd or 1st person. Remake would be amazing.

Red Faction Guerrilla was actually a pretty dope game; like GTA on Mars! The difficulty curve was WAY too steep though; it was like an unintentional Dark Souls level of hardness. It came equipped with cheat codes though, which I tried to use, but for some reason once you entered a cheat code you couldn't save the game after that! What did they expect, that if you used cheat codes you were gonna have to sit there and beat the game in one sitting?!

I always played this on its easiest setting. Found it was the best way to play it.

No more installments are in development due to poor sales of the last game in the franchise, Red Faction: Armageddon.

I quit being interested after Red Faction went 3rd person. The 1st in particular was a great story and I was on edge the whole game.

I think Volition's mistake was recycling the plot instead of building on the highly successful Red Faction 1. They should've made another game set during the revolt against Ultor, just as dark and gritty. While Parker mostly fought underground to sabotage Ultor, it should be full scale war on Mars surface concluding with your character recovering the antidote to the plague and being rescued by the EDF.

I hope they bring back Red Faction and make in 1st person again.

And Dina dies and the proof that in release date reveal trailer ellie was wearing Dina's bracelet which has blue beeds on it and it was revealed at the E3 gameplay trailer you can see it when Dina was dancing with ellie

I really liked this game but I felt like it was limited by the console generation. Felt like it needed more weapons, more vehicles, some character customization outfits, some unique locations, underground bases, more secrets to explore. It was a great game but it just needed more of everything. I would love to see a sequel to this on the PS5 and NeXbox

Don't expect anything from the story though. There are only a couple good voice actors in the game, the story is alright, but the gameplay is where the game shines, its brilliant

Later games were shit. 1 and 2 were decent shooters tho.

Red faction is based on real life history.

It has been remastered. The textures have been updated a bit, the lighting is a little better but the main point of the remaster was to make the game run much smoother

I play on 360 cuz couldn't be bothered to buy it for my PS4 I'm not sure if the stories different but it's great on my 360 any ways and none of the stuff you said happened if you still have an Xbox 360 you should try it on there it's a great game

I loved the first 2, played them many times and then platinumed them when they were remastered. When they went 3rd person, I abandoned the series altogether.
