Duke Nukem's selling point was always the humor. Perhaps a reboot would feature Duke Nukem taking on a wokeist dystopian government rather than villainous scientists or alien races.

Randy Pitchford (that asshole) is responsible for all that bullcrap which got released after Duke 3D (well, mostly, there were some decent titles, but nothing like original Duke 3D). Duke Nukem's IP had plain nightmare, when 3D Realms had trouble with money and they couldn't afford to develop anything proper. As soon as Gearbox bought the rights to the Duke Nukem name, everything went downfall. Thanks to Gearbox, original Duke Nukem Forever build is lying on 3D Realms servers untouched and gathering dust simply because Gearbox Software don't give the permission to do so. Even 3D Realms admitted that they wanted to release original build to the public, even if it isn't completely finished. Knowing the community of Duke Nukem games, fans would fix it. But yeah, that remains to be seen...

I want Duke Nukem to get the Doom 2016 Treatment (Except its a sequel) Go back to all the oldschool things (Like Game Mechanics) that made it great. But I want an "Old Man Duke" Grey Flat-Top and 5 0'Clock shadow. (He still has the same personality) He is pretty much forgotten and disliked by everybody and replaced by Super Heroes (Just like how Super Heroes have Replaced The Action Heroes Duke is a Parody of). The Heroes Even make peace with the Alien Species. However (Just like Duke Predicts) The Aliens stab the Super Heroes in the back (Killing some, Capturing the rest and invading earth) and Duke Saves the day 1 last time and dies at the end. To add to Dukes Parody/Satire Personality you can call it Duke Nukem: EndGame (Because its the Last one) And if it's successful You can always bring Duke Nukem Back to Life like Frankenstein's' Monster Treatment. Call him "Franken-Duke" or "Nukem-Stein" just make it a fun corny stupid game like it should.

Hell, I named my current dog after him. Duke the hound dog. He thinks he's badass enough to take the mail man then just runs right past him the one time he jumped our fence.

Duke Nukem 20th anniversary wasn't mentioned at all, and that is probably the best one released to date. Sure it's just an update of Duke 3D with a few new levels but it still feels great and is fun to play every now and again.

duke nukem 3d was one of the first FPS i have ever played. along with doom and quake... good times man.

I wish Gearbox would stop being complete dipshits and just give the rights back to 3D realms. I want a proper sequel damnit. Duke doesn't deserve to be remembered as a joke. If Doom and Wolfenstein can do it, then maybe the king can too

Duke Nukem 3D was amazing!

What is needed? Some balls!

The problem with Duke Nukem Forever, among many others, is that it didn't represent Duke's character or style of humor well at all. Just play it back to back with Duke Nukem 3D and you'll be surprised at just how much more obnoxious, annoying, stupid and just downright nasty Forever is. Duke doesn't really need to "evolve for modern times". He just needs to go back to the way he used to be in his best game.

Duke Nukem Forever was my first ever experience with the series. Yes the game was bad, I laughed at the jokes, but it just wasn't great. Then I finally got to play 3D but it was the 2016 World Tour edition. I loved it, some parts were difficult, but I still beat the game. I honestly would love to see Duke come back with a game that is more modern, BUT keeps that humor. Maybe with more guns and gadets, maybe add a fatality system like Doom. Make something new for Duke, but also stays true to his character. and of course have an opening scene that claims "If you are easily offended by jokes, turn this game off you pussy" or something like that

I grew up on Duke nukem! Best fps with fun humor I still reference today. I'd be perfectly happy playing zero hour if it ever got a revamp of textures and models. It was great in its own right and changing it would be like changing Ocarina of Time. "Damn you, Damn you all!"

I feel like all you would have to do to make Duke work as a character is to make the entire film a satire of itself and its tropes. Kinda like the first Expendables film only a bit moreso. I think Yahtzee even said that he would give Duke a character arc where he's a man outside of time that doesn't know how to exist in a world that needs his skills but won't tolerate his behavior, leading to an existential crisis for Duke. Do those things and hire a team that can do good single-player game design + graphics and I'm sure that game would do very well.

@@AllardRT Agreed. I understand what Thuazabi is saying, but if you think about it, an existential crisis doesn't work at all with Duke. Sure he might recognize the fact that society needs his skills but doesn't like his behavior, but he would just make a joke about it and continue to do what he's gonna do. THAT is a very Duke Nukem thing to do. The whole "pity poor me, gonna take a stroll through the rain" thing, yeah, that's not Duke.

I vividly remember the first Duke Nukem games... and now I feel old.

Wow, I didn't know about those Duke Nukem games as 2D platformer.

I must be the only person in the world that thinks Duke Nukem Forever was not a bad game. I grew playing Duke Nukem in the 90's. I think changing Duke would be terrible. Now more than ever, the world needs a Duke Nukem game with all his Duke glory.

The first thing that needs to happen is Duke Nukem needs to be given to developers that actually care enough to do something with the franchise. The Shadow Warrior reboot certainly enjoyed success. Having said that the developers did not rely on dated jokes. With enough creative input maybe Duke Nukem could be made great again in a new game. Another thing would of course be making the gameplay and levels as fun as they were in the days of Duke 3D. Would I go near Forever again? Nah. Do I still sometimes play 3D? Yes. Still fun to this day; not to mention the endless great content from the fan-base. I've played many games over the years but Duke 3D is that one game I keep an eye on. As it stands Duke Nukem lives through the fan-base. If a new game never comes out; we'll always have the immortal Duke Nukem 3D.

Duke Nukem could be developed in the same vein as Wolfenstein and DOOM and it would be brilliant. But he's still owned by Gearbox so god knows what will happen to him now.

I would personally be extremely happy if Duke Nukem: Zero Hour was remastered and released on current platforms. That was one of my favorite games on N64 and one of the ones that I played a lot of. Constantly trying to chase 100% completion on every level.

Our only hope to save our manlyness is... Running With Scissors Postal! Pray they secretly are making a game.

As we said in our video, Duke has 3 main adversaries that he is gonna have to overcome. Those adversaries are History, Relevance and Randy Pitchford. Giving the Duke back to 3D Realms could be a good move now that Take Two is no longer tied to the franchise but the Duke needs fans to forget about DNF and move on. He's also not a PC character so either reinvent the character or wait for the 90's era to repeat itself in present day when the snowflakes who have taken on sentient life melt away. I personally would love to see Duke from the 3D era clash with the original incarnation from Duke Nukem 1 almost like what they did with Mortal Kombat 11 bring the two Dukes together to fight the ultimate threat or make some spin-off games that take place in the Duke Nukem universe. I would also like to see the Neo LA concept return which they dropped in Duke Nukem 3D. Maybe make the Duke a little more futuristic with enhanced and unconventional weapons as well as enemies

He’s been in development hell for years now after duke nukem forever

Funny thing I found out in the original Duke Nukem platformer is you can find chicken to restore your health, but if you shoot it before picking it up your gun will cook the chicken making it restore more health.

Gearbox should just sell Duke Nukem to ID Software. Right now the only thing Gearbox ever cares about anymore is pumping out endless Borderlands stuff, and selling Duke to ID would probably (in their minds) free up even more money and hard drive space to devote to even more Borderlands. However, the thing that I think the Duke franchise needs is for it to return to it's older, more serious roots from DN3D. One of Forever's fatal flaws was making the universe a goofy 'funhouse mirror.' Duke needs a serious world for his style of humor snd quips to work, otherwise the whole premise falls flat and looks cringey and juvenile. I would also remove the sex pest stuff from Forever and develop more the personality from 3D. Yes Duke is a hedonist, but it honestly was not his whole personality. He also had a battle mentality and an action hero mentality when stuff got serious. He wasn't just quipping about dicks all of the time. Lastly, I would be updating the classic enemies of the game to be more intimidating and badass to fight. Gone would be the goofy pig gorillas of Forever, I'd have the piggies from Manhattan Project. To me, they looked like efficient, highly trained professionals who could quickly and efficiently end a threat, especially the SWAT guys with their black riot gear, and automatic weapons, so I would want to feel like what I face could legit game end me easily. Duke may be a badass, but he needs to work for his badassery. And that's just some of the stuff. Plus more open world levels with many different locations and objectives. That stuff in a nutshell, basically.

I've been thinking very similar thoughts to yours. More than anything DN3D understood how to handle all the things forever dropped the ball on. The way DN3D handled Duke's womanizing was great. Developer's take note: You'll notice throughout the game that you can tip strippers and the occasional prostitute. It can be assumed that these women probably aren't the nicest bunch of ladies on the block. Some of the strippers will shake there tits at you if you pay them and the prostitutes will tap one foot impatiently. You'll also notice during the cutscene at the end of episode 3 that its implied that Duke and a lady friend (who sounds like she's pretty vapid and slutty) hook up for the evening. There's also the pornstars in episode 4 who seem to smile at Duke then whisper something to each other. Meaning to be derived: Its ok because the women in the game that line up for a Duking (if ya know what I mean) are there because they are the types of women that go after a guy like Duke. They are empty headed and sleazy.

Duke Nukem will be back and he will stick to his guns like DOOM and Wolfenstein. Both of them had mediocre games but, they were revived and reborn. Duke Nukem will have a sequel and it will be glorious. Here me, fellow Duke fans. Duke Nukem will be back and ready for action.

The Duke Nukem Serious Sam VR mod is pretty cool.

Duke Nukem Forever was a legend it was released 10 years earlier, it was very awesome.

The new Duke should tone down the douchyness and lewdness and focus on him being a badass action hero. In DN 3d the hoes and sexy stuff were a really small part of the experience. I think that's what Duke Nukem Forever forgot. There Duke was more or a womanizing egomaniac who somehow fell into this saving the world business than a badass hero who happens to like the company of girls. For a new Duke game I say make him start at his lowest like an old relic drinking in a bar when the aliens attack so he is forced to take up arms and kind of a John MacLane situation being the right guy at the wrong place and time. And then the game can maybe take Duke to the alien homeworld. Like saving the people taken. Maybe that can even be open world. No seedy bars no big titty hoes. Just a badass hero taking aliens down.

So what will they come out with? Diane Nukem: Fight against The Toxic Masculine Aliens?

I would honestly play this just for the laughs.

Look, i'll admit that most people only really love Duke Nukem 3D (the build engine games in general are just pretty damn fun, Blood especially), but regardless, we could still get another game of that quality if Gearbox would just show some fucking interest in the franchise again. Seriously, just hire someone talented like Hugo Martin to make the game. There's plenty of talent out there who could make a good Duke Nukem game if you just game them the money and resources. On top of that, I doubt the game would get shit on that hard by SJWs (and i think people would come to the game's defense). Duke himself is only really a womanizer at worst, and its not like in an abusive way or anything. He just really likes the babes is all, its part of his macho man persona. Whoever writes the next Duke Nukem game could still write that kind of dialogue for Duke while keeping it tasteful, its not that hard. It just requires some actual talent.

In order for Duke to succeed, the franchise needs to be sold by Gearbox to a more competent game studio, such as id Software.

Either the Duke needs a complete and drastic reboot, which will anger many classic fans, or; Give him the Ion Maiden (fury?) treatment and go back to the build engine where duke was better off staying

Just keep the game exactly the same and release new maps with new villains. I'd play the shit out of it :)

If Duke nukem is bad I'd like to see what deadpool is gonna be like in a few years people need to stop being so afend over something so small and I loved that game when I was a kid and I loved the latest version If Duke nukem was real he would of stormed area 51 and kicked every alien scums ass haha

I think that Duke Nukem should take inspiration from the new Wolfenstein and DooM games, I'd call it Duke Nukem'5 Back and take inspiration from the intro of Duke Nukem 2, and instead of having the game's humour bechanged, keep him the macho man he is, but present a world where he is old news and hasbeen, people don't take him seriously anymore, so he has to raise back up to glory once Earth gets attacked by aliens again, and ooh, turns out that even when he's old, he's the ultimate hero, but he now really is alien to modern society, being stuck in his past prime and not evolving as a person. Having the humor not come from how innapropriate it is, but how innapropriate it's protagonist is regaring the world he now lives in.

I hope Bethesda buys the rights for Duke. The series can't die with a mediocre game like the one we got. I said Bethesda because they were the ones to reboot DOOM and Wolfenstein. They did a pretty good job....with DOOM, at least.

Modern gamers happened, Duke Nukem Forever tried to pander to them and failed and us gamers wanting a classic 90's fps just went else where, at least we got a figure by Neca and a premium format statue of Nuke so win win. But come on no mention of Ion Maiden that's basically the closes where getting to a Duke games, also no mention of the fact gearbox shut down the development of Duke Nukem 3d Reloaded wow research much.

They made a mistake if you have noticed other games have failed to capture the badassery of first person shooters. Duke Nukem will have an awesome sequel one of these days like Wolfenstein or Doom. And it will stick to its old school guns and be kickass.

what about duke nukem 20th anniversary

20th anniversary is still 2d and just a polished version of Duke nukem world tour

Maybe they could sell Duke Nukem to the people that made Doom and Wolfenstein or atleast learn from those titles
