I watched the new Mulan with my wife who is of Chinese descent. She was genuinely pissed and said she would never watch it again. The straw that broke the camel’s back for her was how Mulan only truly became a strong warrior by removing her armor, letting her hair down, and embraced being a woman. She said it was a total insult to the story of Mulan which was about a humble woman who was able to blend in with her peers despite being a woman, not a super powerful woman who would best all of her peers because she was a woman.

There were two huge problems with that movie 1) Mulan went from being a capable, smart and strong woman to just having super powers for no reason. Making her wins unearned and impossible 2) Adding a random female antagonist, who last minute turned good in an attempt to show that she was only evil because men made her that way? It was non-sensical and a clear attempt to just vilify the ‘patriarchy’

I LOVE the original Mulan and that was the big disservice to the original and I was disgusted with the remake there was no heart no magic no warmth. The original had all of that and more….i still get chills when all those people bow in respect to Mulan after she saves China. I felt nothing for the remake and would never revisit for fun or anything….

Well, they certainly produced quantity. Whether that had to mean sacrificing quality (considering the resources Disney has) is a separate thing. Plus, it ties into Iger's narrative that the problem with _The Marvels_ is that the diversity hire director they placed at the helm didn't get enough supervision. Questions about why, if she needed more supervision than they had available to direct the movie, she was chosen for the job are quite unwelcome.

When I was a kid, every Wednesday evening Disney had a movie on TV. That’s 52 good family movies a year. What are they doing now ? Even my dad laughed out loud at Charlie the Lonesome Cougar. They had Escape from Witch Mountain, the Parent Trap. . . That was the only reason I briefly thought about subscribing to Disney+ , then I heard they weren’t putting their old catalog of shows on it. Then I thought about subscribing again to watch the Mandalorian, then they fired Gina Carrano .

Even the Disneyland park has gone downhill in regards to the cast members they hire. Got back from a Disney vacation this past week. I saw long hair on men, piercings of all kinds, tattoos, extra long beards- it was so crazy. I worked there for 7 years back in the day- late 90s early 2000s and those things were strictly forbidden as they “took away from the magic” and “distracted” the guests. Not only that, most of these “cast members” 0:01 were curt and rude. Not a good look OR vibe. I can literally say we were taught to go OUT of our way to answer questions and please the guests when they came into the park. Not anymore. It’s so sad.

My old VHS of Sleeping Beauty had a little behind the scenes clip after the film’s credits. It showed off the background painters working on the forest scenes from the movie. Sleeping Beauty’s art was always so beautiful to me, especially the painted landscapes. Watching the painter delicately add leaves to a single tree one brush stroke at a time was so captivating to watch; it’s how I fell in love with painting as a kid. I don’t believe that level of care and love and passion exists at Disney anymore. Nothing they’ve done recently feels inspired. It’s such a shame.

I watched a 90s documentary of how Snow White was made featuring Angela Lansbury narrating. It, too, was nothing short of amazing. When I spoke to my coworker about how they would act certain scenes out for the artists to recreate through animation, he called it "motion capture" long before there was such a thing. And therein lies the problem. Stories told are too easily made. A good story takes time and a significant amount of rewrites and cuts before we get a final version.

It’s not just the content they’re producing; the parks suck now too. I went to DisneyWorld in 2016 during my birthday and I remember not a single employee passed by me and didn’t smile wishing me a happy birthday after seeing my pin. I went there again in 2023 for my birthday: I spent a full day at Hollywood Studios and only ONE cast member bothered wishing me a happy birthday. That feel-good vibe that was so present at the parks is now gone, it feels like they’re only interested in milking your last cents. After the park visit was over we went to Red Lobster. I got more smiles and happy birthdays wishes during a 2 hour meal at a small Red Lobster than during 10 hours at a Disney Park

Man.....I went to Disney in 2019 and you're so right. In 2007 I worked in MGM, the last year it was called that, in the Disney college work-study program (custodian). I was a shy kid, but was forced to come out of my shell and be more assertive because that was the job. you had to smile at everyone, greet people, and if you see people standing around looking confused, you introduce yourself and offer them directions or suggestions. When I went back in 2019 it was like a whole different experience. Now when you would make eye contact with an employee, they would quickly look away, like "why is this weirdo looking at me?". I was thrown off by all the employees having beards, while if I came in with light stubble, I was forced by management to shave with a single blade plastic razor, in a sink that had only cold water. At the time I knew they were upholding a standard, and then in 2019 I figured maybe standards and society just changed. But the employees now are also dismissive and borderline rude sometimes. When I worked there, I would visit the parks on my days off, and guests would just know that I was an employee by how friendly and open I was. Several times while I was just in normal street clothing, random people would walk up to me like "hey, sorry to interrupt, do you know how to get to (place)?". And I would say oh yeah of course no problem, you just go this way and this way blah blah blah. Even on your day off, out of uniform, it's like the guests could smell it on you. When I was having a bad day, going above and beyond for a guest and seeing their joy would make it feel sort of worthwhile. Now, it doesn't feel like you're a guest. It feels like you're a customer at best, and a nuisance at worst. It's actually pretty damn depressing. Sorry for the novel.

At his creative demise I posted a reaction on Facebook, and was bombarded by an onslaught of diatribe on Lasseter from an animator friend. It all boiled down to this: Lasseter hugged people, got drunk, and several women had complained. Nobody seemed to care that he made damned great animated films. Especially my animator friend, which was particularly chilling, as he's a teacher in the industry.

Not for long! It's NOT over for Disney! Not by a long shot! Disney is NOT going to die anytime soon! You asked the question: "Can the company that brought us the greatest animation classics be saved?" The answer is a solid YES! Yes, it can! Disney CAN be saved! Once I get to work at Disney as a storyboard artist, I'm going to put my creativity to good use! I'm going to create new animated Disney films with good stories that will NEVER flop! And I also plan to destroy the woke agenda once and for all! It will be ABOLISHED! Gone! Finito! No more DEI! In its place will be Walt's original ideology of how Disney movies should be made! Family entertainment WILL return to Disney, and Disney will earn back the parents' trust! I'm going to make sure that it will! It may be a risky gamble, but I'm going to do whatever I can to succeed in my goal to save Disney! #BringBackTheMagic #SaveDisney

That is the crispest summation of the tragedy that I've heard in awhile. Can I tell you how we Australian kids lived for Disney content on all the mediums? How we sang the songs, lived the dreams, and went as adults to the theatres as adults to watch "kids movies"? How terribly sad to see them destroy Star Wars, Indiana Jones...and the cartoon characters of our youth-all killed off...its all hopeless. They destroyed hope.

Diversity over talent is happening right NOW in the US military, crucial government departments, including the FBI and ICE, as well as the EPA, the NHTSA, the National Forest Service, and many other gov beaucracies and academic and private institutions. Wake up, America! (Not talking about, "White privilege" here!) Just hiring the best person for the job! And why is it that Asian Americans are not included in the catch-all, "People of Color"?

Our first trip together was to Disneyland, we got engaged at Disneyland Paris, and had our honeymoon at Walt Disney World. And we still love the things we have loved about Disney, and the memories we made, and how Beauty and the Beast is still her favourite movie and Fantasia is mine. But we also haven't gone back to a Disney park in almost ten years (considering that in the ten years before that we went to a Disney park somewhere in the world almost every year) and derive more entertainment out of the company's collapse than anything the company makes presently.

Here’s a slight positive thought: The history of the Disney company has shown multiple times of drastic decline from money hungry executives to then the these magical saviours redeeming the company. First, Disney created a hit cartoon series based on his first character Oswald the Rabbit where the series became a hit. Then Disney was fired from his own project. Disney created Mickey Mouse, created another fantastic cartoon series, and eventually Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Eventually, some of the fresh animators demanded higher pay and for the company to be unionized. Therefor, the company, despite Walt’s wishes, became a union and wasn’t as warm as before. Disney then launched Disneyland, started Disney world, and kept working on movies. Then Disney passed away from lung cancer. Disney World launched and was successful, but the movie quality started to decline. In 1989, Howard Ashman came into the scene and launched the Disney Renaissance. Also, Pixar released their first movie, Toy Story, in 1995 which also launched the Pixar era. Things were great. Then Michael Isner reduced budgets for everything, so the movies declined and the parks declined. Then we got Bob Iger… Maybe Elon Musk or George Lucas will become the new saviours. History will eventually repeat itself.

How some of the characters themselves would feel about how Woke Disney's gotten. I grew up with Disney and clearly they killed its spirit. Mickey Mouse: Why did you do this to us, Iger? My Father would not approve of this garbage. Would He? NO!! You shamed my father, Bob Iger. My Wife wouldn't be happy of this either. (Being the mascot of Disney for 100+ years, he knows what his dad does with the company.) Pongo: The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Many of us in the studio have looked up to your founder as he created us and cared about our values and repayed him with our hearts, AND YOU TAKE A GIANT S**T ON IT!!! (GROWLS) Mike Wasowski: He's right, your selfishness and your DEI practices as well as all this political mumbo jumbo is the real reason the company is burning in the process. How you're abusing the minds of these children is beyond sickening then how Randall took screams by force. (Monster's Inc being a company Wasowski how a company works and clearly what Iger does isn't working for the fans and himself) Scrooge McDuck: I may enjoy my money, but I would never betray my family for more. Besides, think of the children and their families. (He may be the richest duck in the world, but he loves his family more than his money and he wants to use his businesses to help everyone Duckburg.) Mufasa (Spirit): To all those who tried to fight for Walt's Honor and Dignity, Remember what the company was before. Don't let Iger destroy your lives, your children, or your family. (He's a king and a family lion, so he clearly knows how the woke propaganda affects family, not to mention he knows who killed him and knows what evil is and how to combat it) Adam/Beast: You will not destroy more of our stories, Iger. It will be a matter of time before this company falls and it'll be all your fault. We wanted to bring joy and happiness to people all over the world. Joe Gardner: I don't care if Soul bombed at the Box Office, I still agree that your company should've created better stories that made people smiles. I tried to help 22 and I never gave up. Also, while Walter is definitely ready to run Walt Disney Pictures from the Begining , but being lied to most of your life, you Bob Iger are just not ready to run as CEO. (Joe's got some wisdom after what happened in his movie, and it's true. Iger is just not ready.) Luke Skywalker: You should've just left me and my friends alone, Iger. Instead, you made us look morally weak in your companies stupid agenda. Jiminy Cricket: Robert, You've been a very naughty boy, yet you never learn your lesson and just continue to see Disney's company crashing to the ground. (Being a physical representation of someone's conscience from Pinochio, he knows right from wrong) Woody: Granted, Lassater shouldn't have acted like such a terrible jerk towards people in the company but it ain't worth ruining his creations and stories. At least all those therapy sessions and rescripting helped me shaped the first movie to being much better than in the early script on that Black Friday reel. Plus, I even had a best friend for a long time. Still, you're not treating the people who disagrees with your political views with respect and being aggressive at the same time while shoving unwanted political stuff in your content is gonna get people to hate you. Just saying, you should've thinked clearly than being such a woke whippersnapper. (He used to be a jerk and a jealous toy in the early scripts of the movie, but he learned from his jealousy and became a better toy in his future adventures and helped friends new and old.) Hopper: First Rule of Leader: Everything is YOUR fault. I mean it, Everything is your fault, Iger and of course, someone got hurt because of you. All you do with your business practices is take advantage of those who don't like what you're doing to their movies. Do us all a favor and leave, nobody wants all this DEI crap to be here. (Granted, Hopper's a Villian, but from what I wrote I wanna say that by that logic, Hopper's got a point. Everything Iger does is HIS own fault) Robin the Frog (Kermit's Nephew) We were gonna be happy working with Disney but I never realized you played us all for fools, Mr. Iger. My uncle Kermit's already so mad seeing his creator's work burning to the ground and how you destroyed. Getting us involved in your stupid Propaganda. Also, I'm happy that you're leaving Mr. Bear and his friends and Woodland Valley alone. We don't need a reboot for that show, it's fine the way it is. Let Luna's voice rest. (He may be just a child but even a child can have wisdom by listening to the right people) Luna the Moon: My voice actor may be dead, but the voice that she created for me will live on, I'm quite disappointed in you, Iger. Millions of children all over the world loved what Walt Disney did for his creations and Mickey. He had a legacy and you're tarnishing it for something that most people don't want. What have you done? That's all I can put because I don't wanna put too many characters in.

IMO this shouldn't be seen as short term greed or executives doing this for money. I think that these people genuinely believe these things. Ideas like white guilt and toxic masculinity and privilege and social justice are very persuasive to these people it lets them feel like a concerned champagne socialist while not having to pay high taxes. Also, for these top executives and uber-rich people social credit (looking good) within their circle is as or more important than money. They are also very prone to embracing ideologies that make them feel above the rest of the populous (think the people from the capital in hunger games). If it was just about money then these people would not have let their own children be influenced with these woke ideas, instead we see them proudly say things like "My CHILD is a pan-sexual" as one Disney exec. was seen saying.

To them, the lost $$ is merely the cost of doing business. That business is to tear down the old culture for Ma Kzism. Either we like the replacement, or the iconic IP is then tainted and destroyed. Dynasties don’t last forever. Sadly, your star players cannot stay in the game indefinitely. Disney had a good run, coming out of a 2 decade slump in the 90s. If Iger does not completely destroy the brand, and with new management that acquires real talent through merit based hiring, I’m sure Disney will be at the top once more.
