The Local Authorities have NO reason to make the demand to leave. I agree completely with what is said we have human rights and authority should only be necessary when there is cause to use it !!!

This isn't what planning policy should be concerned about. How about stopping developers burying our countryside in identical boring, square box, housing estate homes instead? Leave em' be, they aren't doing anyone any harm!

You can't pick and choose who planning laws apply to. The fact is, ALL planning legislation should be scrapped, since it infers that if people need 'permission' to do things to their own property, then people don't own their own property, and that it somehow belongs to the government.... You wouldn't need to worry about big developers at all. If they were allowed to do whatever they wanted, there would be many more homes, and due to supply and demand, there would be far less incentive to build. It's a self organising system that shouldn't be interfered with. The main thing driving up housing prices is restrictions made by the government on what can be built. The main incentive to build is high housing prices.

It's purely because big developers have money to pay people everything is about how much money they government can get from it, hopefully in this case the government decide they can't be bothered to spend money on moving these people and they just get left alone

I agree with you its bloody ridiculous we cant have a home on our own land.. Ive been through similar and stood my ground with a log chalet.. I had letters telling me to remove it from the site .. Im here in it years later .. don't move and don't answer their letters hopefully they will soon go away :) I pray for you to have peace to live your lives without being beaten up by bullies

My dad went through an incredibly long and challenging process to build his own home in the UK. He built a round house from locally sourced materials which took him about 7 years and two high court visits to get permission for. In the meantime you can build a multi story concrete eye-sore where ever you like - even on flood plains. The reason the government don't like what these people are doing is that they can't profit from it. It's really terrible.

Well, government is there with building codes to protect the health & safety of citizens. Government wants you to insure the roof won't collapse on you or your guests or after a big rain or windstorm. Working sanitary sewer and potable water source into your building, heating systems

Back in the 1970's many of my friends moved to the woods of British Columbia to homestead, & to Arkansas woods but none stayed for more than a few years. They became sick, babies died of illness, fights broke out, and all returned to civilization.

I love your simplicity of life you are so right their is far to. Is there an update? I hope you are still living there in peace with your neighbors. I just saw your video for the first time. 2022. You know what? - Society is made up of bullies now. Children as bullies grew up and became adult bullies. We have so many bullies who enjoy their meanness. Im 62. I live in the States in the state of Maryland. I bought a “ tear down” 75 year old wood bungalow. I surprised everyone- I moved right in. Still here. My home isn’t beautiful or trendy or artistic or anything….. but it’s my quiet little nest. I applaud a person’s efforts to challenge the bully. 💗🌻🌿💗

I'm very jealous - I think I would be a lot happier and healthier too in your position. The world has gone mad. If you've bought the land you should (in my opinion) live how you want. People can build these types of personal organic homes but still cooperate w/codes for health&safety. Materials are readily available that are non off-gasing, healthy,& safe but meet structural & health reqmnts.

The wood isn't seasoned. There shouldn't be any smoke.

Yes, Salomediscs, one should endeavour to only burn seasoned wood but all woods smoke, to lesser or greater extents, even if seasoned for centuries ( I am have been a carpenter for over 30 years and, having worked on the conservation of a number of historic buildings, have been blessed with some very well seasoned, ancient off-cuts to burn) . There are many factors, as well as seasoning and specie, that affect how much burning wood smokes - on an open fire even the level of atmospheric humidity can make a difference and in this instance, when the film was made the conditions were clearly very humid and therefore more smoke would be produced than during a spell of very dry weather.

It is more than time that people started looking to more low impact ways of living in these times. Everyone should have the option to live out side of the system if they choose to. No one should legally be bound to live in a capitalist system and every one has a right to shelter and put food in there mouth.

Lovely , but I don't understand the negativity towards some sector ?? Have the council objected to you? Or have locals objected ? I just don't understand that bit. Yes you should be able to live on your own land as you wish. This is a real earthly existence , looks soo cosy too. Would there be a problem with rodents, especially in winter ??

Kate and Alan do but me the film maker does not. I would argue though that many vegan lifestyles are more damaging to the earth than many land dwellers. Would you discredit a native American or aboriginal Australian because they kill animals?
