The Slap was a little too harsh , especially across the face but i Don't think the child is autistic, I looked up on the show a while back and Hugo isn't autistic just a spoiled child whose parents were trying to do "Hands off Parenting ".. just a poorly disciplined kid. Either way its a very bad series

    *Slaps hand over face* I don't get why so many people are freaking out over slapping children in the comment section. You do know that some kids just wont stop until you do something right? And not yet yelling at them or putting them in the corner. As a 15 year old kid I had to go through abuse given to me by bitch girls who thought they were better than everyone else. They tortured me and did about everything to me until in 5th Grade I pushed another girl down three little steps and she finally let up on me. When we were dumb enough to torture the dog by pinching them or pulling on their ears my cousin would tug on their children's hair not hard enough to hurt them but hard enough to annoy them because they said they told them a million times not to do it. Why is it ok for a little kid to throw stones at animals or torture other children and only get off with a slap on the wrist? Because they're cute and it's instinctual for adults to see children as ONLY innocent when you're dead wrong. Because it took up until I was 10 to fully lash out at those girls to finally get them to see that they weren't all shit. And I openly told the parents maybe if they disciplined their children more they wouldn't act like little bitches.

  • @OveToranger

    @OveToranger

    Sometimes violence is the proper answer. But levelled accordingly. - your cousin seems to have done it right IMO. Your reaction...I'd rather have you slap that girl than pushing her down the stairs (because of potential consequences). But it worked out well for you - so, good ! Some people take "discipline" to a level they don't impose on themselves, only on others, ie. they're bullies. If you do something that is potentially life threatening to another kid and you get a smack on the bottom for it - I will not advocate hitting anyone in the head as there's too much crap that can go wrong there, hence, I'd have reacted harshly to this guy doing something like this to my kid, but then again - my kids are smarter than this (even at the age of the kid in the video) and wouldn't have done it ! My kids were told the consequences of what they were doing but allowed to do it (unless they could hurt someone else) as long as it was only painful and not dangerous. Then when they got the pain they got no comfort, but a "I told you so didn't I ?". Next time I explained consequences they listened closely. These days I'll ask them to tell me the potential consequences and add what they forget, if they forget anything. They haven't broken any bones yet. Other reaction is consequences - if they ruin something or hurt someone else - loss of privileges, no phone, no pad, not allowed to visit friends for a week, have to work it off (mow the neighbors garden, walk the dog) etc. etc. Generally I'd say there's a bigger need for some adults to get slapped around than kids. But parents HAVE to bring them up to think then ! And as I said above...slap in the face is potentially more dangerous than a smack on the bottom, especially if the adult is angry !

    It's partly the parents' fault because who taught this kid to kick someone that's older than them and swing a bat at other kids? Honestly, the kid needed that slap.

    I get that so many people think that hitting kids is ok for ‘discipline’ is ok. I disagree. If you have to hit your child to get them to behave you need parenting classes. Hugo needed discipline yes. He needed someone do tell him off and punish him but that doesn’t mean hitting. You can raise a child to be polite and respectful without laying your bands on them.

    Wow. A slap. That's like making a high five with someones face. It doesn't even hurt usually (unless you really want it to) Like the slaps I'm giving out are giving you stiff necks and headaches, because I don't usually slap people and if I do there really is a reason behind it. But a symbolic slap applied with medium force should be no problem. My russian piano teacher used to use a big fat hard pencil to slap my fingers when I made a mistake. (He still made sure not to apply to much force, but it still hurt my skinny 11-y-old fingers) THAT was certainly worse. (Because I can't even do something for just being bad).

    Because maybe the basic societies are different, maybe its just 'cause we (Americans) would be distracted by all the "foreign" accoutrements, rather that following the storyline. More than likely we would find it difficult to understand the Aussie accent! I know, subtitles. But i hate having them on the screen, I'd rather be watching the scene than reading what they're saying AS they say it. So annoying. FTR, I first started using subtitles when we watched The Sopranos. Yeah, they were speaking English, but I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD THEY SAID!!! Jersey English, LoL. ("New" Jersey, that is)... The Slap was one of the most beautifully filmed productions ever. Cinematic quality. The story was different from the usual fare, which is what got me to watch it. Not to even mention the acting, which was beyond excellent. I wish it was a series (like American Crime) that kept using the same actors in anthology series. I also wish American Crime would return!

    You weirdos need to stop talking about the show like it’s something to take seriously. It’s a ridiculous premise to milk a season out of, what is wrong with y’all? Who cares if the kid “deserved it or not”, it’s not about that. What’s actually crazy about the show is the simple fact that it even exists
