Wallie B: Update -- Bridgeville is starting to become "Abandonedville" once again! Not only did the Taco Bell & the K-Mart recently close, but within the last month or so Pizza Hut closed, Peace Love & Little Donuts closed, The Bridge Gastropub/Rumfish Grille closed, & the Sonic is "temporarily" closed due to a kitchen fire!!!!

I stopped by an old Kmart on Thursday in Greenville TX it turned into atwoods really neat.

Appreciate this video, I worked at that Kmart before it closed with some of the best co-workers I could ask for. Good to see the building’s being put to use. Weird that it’s a big lots however since there’s one right up the road...

Love seeing this. My local Kmart has become an Ollies, and is opening in a few weeks. This is better than seeing these stores sitting and decaying.

An hour away from me, a Big Kmart also became a Big Lots (and an At Home) and the Big Lots in my city was a 80s/90s Kmart before it moved to a Super Kmart down the road in 1994 where it would last until Kmart first filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Well at least the building isn't going to sit and rot. It's cool it's going to be a big lots !!! I live in the Niagara falls n.y area Kmart there closed in Feb. A few weeks ago the buliding had a fence put around it Maybe it's getting torn down

Fantastic video Wallie! It seems like K-Mart left Bridgeville just yesterday. I just can't believe it's been over a year since K-Mart left Bridgeville after more than 42 years. Thank you for showing us the Sears Outlet store. It was Children's Palace in the '80s. The store's arches can be seen inside of its windows, but you have to look very carefully.

big lots rented the space when they remodeled the store up the street, they had no plans to move into that store. its back to being empty again.

@@WallieB26 they are now remodeling the mcdonalds behind the abandoned dairy queen on nobelston road in greentree, so that retro store is gone, but the dq still sits empty

That is going to be a massive Big Lots. I work at one of the biggest stores in terms of square footage in our district and that store is probably twice the size. With Big Lots they are redoing all the stores with new fixtures, displays, and adding a bigger focus on furniture. They are calling them stores of the future. It will be interesting to see how this store turns out.

I actually found out what the former Kmart in Bridgeville was being used for. Turns out it will NOT become a Big Lots. Big Lots was renting the space while they remodeled their present location up the street in the Great Southern Shopping Center.

I think big lots should buy all the abandon kmarts I mean the stores are similar in a way

My city’s Big Lots is a former Kmart (Kmart moved to a Supercenter just down the road in 1994 and that ended up closing in 2000)

There is a Big Lots being opened in one section of a former Kmart in Okemos Michigan. This particular store closed long before the original bankruptcy and long before Kmart and Sears merged. There is a Best Buy in the center section and they recently opened a Office Max in the former Caesarland which was Little Caesars version of Chuck E. Cheese. Big Lots will be in the former Garden Shop and despite this Kmart being gone now for at least 25 years, you can still tell what the building originally was. Caesarland was still open up until around 10 years ago when corporate sold the Lansing stores to a franchisee who didn't want the liability of that location.

Ah! Yes, I remember Children's Palace the toy store. I used to go there when I was a kid I went to the one in Saginaw, Michigan (my birthplace) which is now a Best Buy store, Thanks for bringing it up Wallie, I love Children's Palace toy store when I was a kid and thanks for showing us the one that is now a Sears Outlet for us ;)

Big Lots is only taking a portion of the building. The unused portion of the building would still be available to be leased out.

At 9:03: That building behind the K-Mart is a Phoenix Cinemas, which used to be a Destinta Theater....Back in the day, that building was a Warehouse Club, the precursor to Sam's Club & Costco.

I live in Bridgeville. It used to be the epicenter of abandoned retail stores, closed restaurants, deserted plants, etc -- but there is a ton of redevelopment going on in the area. The Big Lots that will be moving in here is currently in the Great Southern Shopping Cernter, which is right up the hill past that Sears Outlet. It occupies a space of a former Phar-Mor.

So awesome you are able to come back and film this place. Even more exciting that Kayla is helping you explore these places. She's absolutely beautiful and will come out of her shyness on her terms. Love how you tell a story about these places and add your own take on things. I can hear thousands of people cheering you on your commentary. Big Lots is a good store and I'm glad this building is being repurposed. BUT WHY CLOSE A KMART THAT'S MAKING MONEY??? if something works leave it alone! I'll never get Fast Eddie's logic outside making $$$$ for selling properties. Maybe the for lease sign is still up because he's shocked they found a viable tenant so fast. ' Will watch my notifications and can't wait for you to return to this KMart and film it, even though it is a Big Lots.

This was only used by Big Lots for storage while they remodeled other stores. But as of thie month April 2021 there is a new chain link fence around it. They are either tearing it down or something really is going in this time.

Have you heard, now Eddie "Lamprey" Lampert is in talks to buy Sears Hometown and Outlet. Not content with dragging down the original Sears and Roebuck, he wants to drag the _spinoff_ as well. Edit: you have. Either way, Eddie Lamprey should keep his grubby mitts off of Sears H&O.

there's also a Little Ceaser's in the West Lebanon, NH one; after Irene hit...they closed for almost a year and re-did the front of the store and changed the checkout layout... :(

It does not matter if Kmart stores are profitable or not. They closed hundreds of profitable stores under Eddie Lamberts watch. What matters is if they own the land or not. This does not sound consistent for a business wishing to stay in business. Basically the remaining stores the land and building is owned by the company. Just recently under the new company the Kmart here in WI was purchased by Lamberts new company. The store manager said the new plan is inventories at remaining stores will be cut by about 1/3 and they will be open to subleasing some space inside the stores and that the Store within a Store concept is on the table which would mean mini Sears in Kmarts, and mini Kmarts in Sears. Just out of bankruptcy I got tweet from Sears about the Grand Opening of 3 new Sears stores built from the ground up and opening in May. Corporate executives received $25 million in bonuses for doing a bad job and store employees of closing stores were told there was no money for severance pay. I worked for Kmart in the 1980's and they were getting rid of full time employees back then to save on benefit packages. So Kmart has a long time hidden history of treating their employees badly. Pretty much since Lambert combined the two companies there were wage freezes so needless to say the people being hired were there till they could find something better and the customer suffered and decided to go elsewhere.

We have a Big Lots by where I live as well and it used to be the Ames that I used to go to as a Kid. Also Ames and Big Lots and even K-Mart are similar kind of stores. There was a K-Mart that my brother frequent quite a bit in Lower Burrel and it closed down.

UPDATE: K-Mart has now been replaced by a Burlington -- They didn't completely demolish the K-Mart shell, but they gutted the building & added a new roof & facade. And the Sears Outlet is now an American Freight

Back in the 80s this Kmart had a sit down food court in the back of the store.I used to get my car serviced there.Crazy memories!!

My 2 local Kmarts in Dalton, Georgia, one in Walnut Ave. It is now a shopping center. The 2nd Kmart in Glenwood Rd. was abandoned for one year and the lights are on. Do a video about them. From Brian.

WOW Big Lots taking over discount of Big Kmart with the Big Fonts on Both but different Colors.

They could've just left the word "Big" up on the store, and install the "Lots" sign next to it. It wouldn't look like the actual logo but, meh.

Our Big Lots should move in the the old Kmart here. Its much bigger and just across the street sitting empty since October 2018 when Kmart closed after 40 years. Our Sears outlet closed over 20 years ago.

I had a bunch of K Marts in driving distance.One turned into a Rural King, one turned into a At Home.Another one is sitting empty.

The former Kmart in my town in Ohio is now a Goodwill, but it's only half of what the store used to be. The other half of it isn't being used for anything, but at least half of it is. The aesthetics of it are pretty unique. The building is made of brick.

The leasing sign is still out as the building may be subdivided. It will be interesting to see how much space Big Lots is going to use at this location.

You're going to love big lots. We have one in Madisonville Kentucky.

Awesome video!!!! The last K-Mart that closed in Rockford Illinois where I live is being turned into a U-Haul rental dealer also it sadly caused the KFC / Long John Silvers in front of the K Mart Parking lot to also close on East State St. :( =^.^=

There is a BIG Car Wash nearby where I live and that “BIG” has the same font as in BIG Kmart! And it has the same color too!

That's gonna be one big lot of a store Lol. Our Big Lots is in the old Kroger, the old mall anchor Kroger. They just remolded it too, so now it no longer has the old Kroger facade :(
