I love checking out abandonded stores/businesses. My BF always makes fun of me about it; but when these places were open, it was a happier time. It reminds me of family traditions with family members that have past on. 😥

Love seeing the intro. The writer in me says the water in the back of the store is the tears of all the Kmart employees who lost their jobs thanks to Fast Eddie. Yes that Kmart looked creepy, but is providing housing for the pigeons. Keep those awesome videos coming!

I used to shop there with my family until it closed down. It was really nice and stuff was decently priced. The room in the back was either the dressing room of the lay way if I can remember.

I was quite worried about this store being abandoned for a long while. Now it is a Uhaul storage place. This building is a relic and I hope it never gets torn down. I even remember when that family farm and home was an IGA!

This is the Kmart I worked at until the closing day, and seeing it and driving past it always makes me sad. I really loved working here, and I remember watching a few coworkers scrape the paint to write down RIP Kmart on the last time I was there. They gathered all the employees for a final group dinner to just see each other one last time. Wish that binder didn't get destroyed. I'd love to have a piece of the service desk. Lol.

That Garden Shop sign is indeed original it was used always up until 1990.

Could you possibly check out the abandoned hobby lobby in Boardman? They moved closer to 680. Or you could possibly try looking at the Joann's when they eventually close and move out.

That Kmart store is mid thru late 60s design just like the first store NW of Detroit,Michigan when the transition from older and smaller SS Kresges dime stores had begun.Your correct Wallie the garden center sign and car park street lighting is the standard original 60s design.To put it this way🌛 Ohio's Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon when that store was still pretty new.Definitely vintage original flat back entrance over front doors for big Red&White Neon Kmart first generation signage which I always liked best to match big red Neon ZAYRES signs from competitor Zayres at the time.I see the pigeons are missing the snack bar popcorn people would leave in the car park for them to eat.🌽🐦

I've worked for Kmart from 1985 until 1996. The Kmart Store #4145 was located at 50 N.Groesbeck, M-97 and Cass in Mt.Clemens, Michigan. The Kmart building opened in 1967. The Kmart closed permanently on Sunday May 8, 1996. I remember when Kmart was owned by S.S.Kresge Company, when I hired in. I remember the red K and the turquoise mart. The former Mt.Clemens Kmart is a Planet Fitness Gym in the Kmart building and the Garden Shop is a Subway Submarine Shop and there was a Kmart Foods that became Wrigley's, Great Scott!and Kroger. The Kroger part of the building is a Dollar Tree 🌳.

U-Haul is taking over it now. I used to go to this Kmart. This is one of the Kmart stores I really miss the most. By the way, the Family Farm & Home next to it is like a Tractor Supply.

Come to California plenty of abandoned Sears and Kmarts. 3 Kmarts and a Sears in Bakersfield alone

My nearest Kmart in Charleston, WV (Kanawha City), built in 1972 & is still open, is this style of building. It was remodeled in 1991, painted gray, all the front windows covered, & the front entrance was moved over. Inside, the pharmacy was moved from one side of the store to another, the registers were moved to the opposite side of the new entrance, the cafeteria in back of the store was taken out, & the deli in front was taken out. A new store sign with the 1990 logo was added to the front & a new new road sign was added to the posts already there. In about 1998, Kmart added a grand facade to it when they turned it into a Big Kmart. Inside, it was still the same Kmart, though. Besides adding the food pantry & changing the departments around, not much changed. The parking lot lights & the road sign posts were the same at the Kanawha City, WV location I'm speaking of as the location in this video. As another commenter mentioned, this other store connected to the location in the video could have been a Kmart Food Store. My location had one, which was an A&P after Kmart Food Store, then later a regional grocer name Fas Chek, until Kmart knocked the wall down & expanded the Kmart, adding a pharmacy in the mid 70's.

We have an abandoned Kmart in Bluefield, WV. Right before it closed everyone was complaining about the black mold building up where the Little Caesar’s was. I recently drove by and checked it out. They had put paper up in the windows to keep people from looking in. Where there’s water leakage the papers have peeled off. It’d be awesome to check out. It was a newer building because my mom worked at the old one down the road from the newer one.

My X wife and I used to live right behind this Big Kmart, used to shop here, Purchased a blue 26" Schwinn Windwood Beach Cruiser, was on sale $99.95 , it was February 2013, Was very nice inside, WOW, now it really IS CREEPY! I The North Versailles Kmart, on Lincoln Highway U.S. (30) Is very similar and Now creepy after it too just recently closed

I believe this building was used as a prototype for the Super Kmart stores.

Today's the big day. The end of the final Super K in the US and my local store which I seen on Friday. Edit: The ohio card is what they call the Buckeye EBT card.

This photo of the old K-Mart in Ohio looks almost identical to the one once going in Prattville, Alabama. That town is about ten miles northwest of Montgomery, in a separate county. I remember those two K-Marts in Montgomery itself, now all long gone. I shopped at the Prattville location a lot after I got my driver license in 1980, Walmart wasn’t even around in those days. I bought the 8-track tape of the first album Toto released; it was in the summer of 1979, and it was self-titled Toto, with the sword and shield on the album cover. It had “Hold The Line”. K-Mart was cool, it had most of what you needed, minus the bullshit insane crowds of today’s Walmart. Adequate parking space, yet this was at a shopping center.

It's actually not abandoned. It was in the process of being bought by U-Haul which now they own it and there is now a U-Haul storage center along with U-Haul vehicles there

Austintown floods. Was built in swamp area. Lots of homes flood during heavy rains after melting snow. Heard my basement flooded.

they didn't, so they leased out the space to others who could. Either way it was technically still part of Kmart since it was using their building- similar to those Kodak developing centers that did those 1 hour photos.

That store does give off a creepy vibe... like it's been abandoned for YEARS not months... it must have been an old store. Also the Rotterdam Square Mall Kmart seems to have an original Garden sign... it's in that light blue, and I'm really wondering just how long that Kmart has been operating for. The inside looks like it could have been an older pre Big K store, because some of it just screams 70's, but I have no idea.
