The sideways blanket always happens to me. As a kid when this would happen, I’d just be happy with it going longways again. But my dad had to make sure if the blanket had a design it was going the right way. Otherwise I’d have “upside down dreams” :)

At least you could spin yours. I remember we (me and my family) had a small square blanket by the living room sofa for when we wanted to warm up during winter. Problem was that it never covered your whole body, and you always tried to spin it, thinking it would get longer, after forgetting that the blanket was square. The trick to never having the sideways blanket paradox is to buy a circular blanket so there is no correct orientation. Bonus points if it's identical on both sides.

yes whenever he’d “wake me up” with ONLY small noises but never loud ones for taking back the blanket) i’d get mad in my sleep. we call it “evil sofia” because it doesn’t sound like anything i’d do consciously lol! i get so petty in my sleep, i usually roll onto his side of the bed but when i’m sleep mad i completely avoid him and move away from him when he tries to hug me. so weird!
I heard a story where a couple said that they slept in different bedrooms and they actually liked that because whenever they would actually hang out together in the same bedroom it was more fun because it wasn't normal.
