The problem now for many hybrid cyclists is that bike manufacturers will supply a bike with a freewheel and often with a freewheel that is 14teeth on the highest gear...when most cyclist would like the option of a 12 or 11 teeth to go faster....But almost all the freewheel manufacturers are only making freewheels with a 14teeth high gear. So bike manufacturers should stop supplying freewheel rear wheels or freewheel manufacturers... Shimano, Suntour, Sunrace, SRAM etc should start supplying better gear options on their freewheels... Quite ridiculous that no manufacturers are supplying fast freewheels! I don't see that it would be a problem for them to manufacture these. Another major issue is hybrid bike manufacturers supplying Chainsets with riveted chainrings rather than bolted ones so you can change worn chainrings or change the gearing to higher or lower... And chainset manufacturers for hybrids and maybe MTBs at the cheaper end don't seem to manufacture hardly any bolted triple chainsets. Again, I don't see that it would be a problem for them. Unrelated, but also annoying that 90%+ of hybrids and MTBs are now disc brakes....when at least half of cyclists, at least in the hybrid and road cycling sector prefer rim brakes as they are cheaper, lighter and more importantly, much less hassle to fix and maintain.
