    When you said it was “end play” I realized how immature I am. I’m 36 and was legit giggling. As an American it sounded like a British euphemism. Thank you so much for this video it’s helping me as I have this issue with my new mountain bike and I’m on sure why it happened. Going to attempt to fix it today on my own before going to a bike shop

    Many thanks for the vid! This was exactly the cause of my rear wheel movement too, your vid helped me along with the fix, thanks! Just a quick question though - my cassette side drop-out nut (the one that slips into the drop-out when you put rear wheel in the frame) was a reverse thread to tighten it - is that normal?

    Just cleaned and replaced the springs in my pro 4 hub and it’s nice and noisy again so walkers can hear me coming 👌 Always good to keep on top of hubs cos if they go wrong on the trail it’s usually game over, e bikes are especially prone to giving them some hammer

    thank you for sharing your knowledge to all of us! youre really good at what you do. Just to add some question, Is this kind of issue may also be the reason why rear axle come loose after ride? i keep having it and still having loose rear axle. Thanks

  • @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic

    @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Matt, thanks for watching. there are a couple of reasons why the axle can work loose, first is that the thread has worn so the axle is not holding in the frame. the other which is that the bearings or end caps are worn/seizing causing friction which grips the axle causing it to turn.

  • @dawbool9552

    Thanks so much for your comprehensive and educational video. While cleaning my mtb (a canyon Yellowstone 29 series) I removed the rear wheel, which is held by a quick release between the dropouts (width 135 mm) from the bike frame. I was appalled to see that I could move the sprockets (the whole cassette) back anf forth laterally without much effort by roughly 1 cm. I was fearing the worst until I found your video, for which I'm very thankful! I had until now no notion of endcaps and what the are good for. I understand now that they serve as adapters thru-axle to quick release. Yet I would like to know how you tighten and untighten the endcap on the drive-side. My endcap on this side is circular on the outer part. Is there any special tool to seize and unscrew the endcap? And later tighten it back with the required torque? I also have the impression that the endcap on the rotor side , which according to me is loose, is not threaded onto the axle, but tightened by some other means (latching mechanism or friction?). My wheel is a Mavic Cross Ride Disc. I would be very grateful for some further advice!

    So to tighten the end cap (in case the wheel wobbles) I do not need to disassemble the cassette and the rotor, right? And I'm a little confused about the torque of the end cap.

  • @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic

    Hi Felix, there are a few different reasons why the wheel might wobble, one of them is that the axle and caps are loose.
