When you started talking about how riot could change Hecarim, how they should move his body back. All I could think about was the monster Nuckelavee. I think it's from Scotland? Not 100% about that. But I think turning Hec into a Nuckelavee with his new lore would be sweet!

Honestly, I actually really enjoy his current design. I enjoy the over-the-top “I’m a spiky ghost centaur” deal he has going on, but you made some fair points. I don’t really think he *needs* a redesign or rework, but I’ll agree that he could probably benefit from one. There are definitely more Champions who need it more though.

Hearing how old Hecarim is reminded me that he was the first champion that got me into playing the game and now I too feel very old

Personally I wouldn't have made him a centaur either. It makes him look too much like a Power Rangers villain. Like you say, I'd make him a Nuckelavee, a demon from Scottish mythology. A horse and rider fused into one malevolent entity is something actually terrifying, and also serves Hecarim's backstory of human knight that has degenerated into a creature with no memory of human life that exists only to kill.

Alex Mercer technically the Nucklavee is a faye but demon is way more accurate to that monstrosity. Also I agree wholeheartedly with you. Nucklavee is my favourite mythological nightmare fuel and needs more love.

That monstrous centaur idea was perfectly realised by Bloodborne

You should look up Hecarim picture from universe, there is one like a year old (you can find it on the regions, shadow isles oage) which looks kinda similar to what you described here.

12:00 Sure, it's clearly the bad-guy outfit and I fully agree with that, but do keep in mind what such kind of armor would do back in the days. Bring fear. And that was all it would need to do. Make so the enemy fears too much to even go to war with someone who wears such armor. This armor might as well had been for the same purpose from before the curse, before the mist. Of course, if it was, I would had loved if they showed that in his story, which as far as I can see, they doesn't. So I can see why it makes you think like this and dislike it. More likely than not, it's just that they didn't want to bother changing his design and didn't think of explaining why he would wear such armor.

Something more monsterous and wrong... Do a reverse centaur, with Hecarim as the lower body and the horse as the upper one >:))

The more I think about it, the more I think the Ruined King was never a "good: King. I think alot of people assume when reading these stories that he was , but I have this nagging feeling that he was a horrible person , and the death of his wife just made it more apparent.

You really need to made an analysis series of Bloodborne bosses after you finish Dark Souls. There is some character designs that might interest you. Especially the horse and rider fusion thing.

Skyne just wondering was that nod to Egyptian mythology? Where Ma’at weighs a person heart against the feather of truth (also known as the feather of Ma’at)? If so that was brilliant and I love it. Great job!

I personaly like that he is a Ghost centaur, i wouldnt turn him into Nuckelavee, it Just isnt Hecarim anymore, i would give him an Ezreal style update were his Model and visouals are better, he has more voice lines, and make TINY changes to signify that he is an amalgamation of a horse and a man, you could make that human torso part a bit taller and give it an down area were you can see the horse's head being stuck underneath his chestplate, and these skulls on his hips i would make them look more like terrified faces and Add a helmet texture to indicate that these guys are the iron order that spawns when he ults, and then his helmet, i would make it a bit more practical like something that a real person would wear, and then make his skullface be burried underneath his helmet and make it skull thats fused with the helmet, and then i would fix his hands, because really his hands look really dump, how can these things be half fingered gauntlets when 50% of his hands is spectral Ghost energy and 10% gauntlets?

I kinda like this idea, and it goes along with what i said and you replied to - this'd be one nice way to make his power fantasy still desirable but also making him more coherent and make more sense.

My only problem with your idea is it kinda alienates those who want to play as a cool edgy larger than life centaur, which is a more desirable power fantasy.

i know he is over the top but DAMN THATS WHAT I LIKE ABOUT HECARIM! he is metal as fuck! but yeah i do think he should look less clean, more deformed, maybe some parts of his armor missing with just the ghost form inside making it, maybe even making his spear be fused with one of his arms.

You said you would make Hecarim more monstrous. Instead of the headless horse and human torso comin out of it's back I would simply extend his torso to look like he is attached to the horse's neck. And cuz he would be so long he would proboably constantly flail around as he runs and swings his spear, making him look like some silent hill monster. I dunno that's just my take on the idea.

Im a bit divided here, although the idea of turning Hecarim into a Nuckelavee sound cool and all, i would lost something in that process, you see, i really like Hecarim and his playstyle, but also loves the fact that his a centaur, as a sagittarian i really liked the representation of my zodiac sign in the game, even if it's not the most common variant of the archer, i still really liked that i could see myself into the game, even for a little bit... I wished they made a archer centaur

i mean if he's a man/horse fusion with an animal crest/head/skull for a breastplate, they could always turn that into a horse skull/headgear :/ also even if edgy metal man x horsepower is the fantasy hecarim players want, spikes and hellfire for are okay but pretty basic ways to get there. sure judas priest/slipknot hell aesthetics get the job done, but so do early black sabbath industrial simplicity and nordic metal warrior vibes (which would work if the ruined king and his nation had an ancient warrior culture vibe).

Look up the Magic card Lone Rider that transforms into It That Rides as One. That such a cool horror aethestic for that archetype.

Go to the League of Legends World Map, click on the [Shadow Isles], click [The Fallen], then scroll down to the 9th picture. You'll see what Hecarim is supposed to look like in the updated state of the LoL-verse. You might like it a lot better.

Idea: you can keep the mouth at his torso BUT change it into a tear to the armor that looks like jagged teeth.

Hecarim's real look is shown in the Universe. Go to the map and check the stock art for the Shadow Isles. The developers just did not update the model yet.

Oh, I know about it. But that's just a piece of concept art, if or when Hecarim is updated, I would be VERY surprised if they use that as the basis for a new design.

@@TBSkyen It has some aspects that you have described, such as a translucent soul-fire inside a more realistic set of armor for a medieval soldier, along with a less goofy head. Anyway, nice video!

if they pushed the torso back a bit, they could invoke a bit more of the nukalave mythology, and incorporate that into the design aswell.

For a more monstrous fusion, implying the work of corrupting, foul, magic - Seemingly random horse and human parts. A human face on a horse's neck, one of the rear hind legs is a human foot, a part of the horse's torso is now human, maybe one of the front hooves is a hand. Not sure how you'd do that in a way that can still logically hold weapons, however, which is an issue.

although hecarim _does_ look like a cartoon, i really like his goofiness and over-the-top edginess. most of league's visual and total reworks are taking away any ugliness (like with sion and urgot) or bizarre elements. i understand that it would be better if hecarim looked scary rather than comic, due to his lore, but i would really miss his position as "old video game horse boss character" in LoL. i mean, there's veigar, but his whole thing is that he _wants_ to be evil, but everyone sees him as good, even though he's extremely powerful. i want a champ that's evil and powerful but has 0 fashion sense! i want a champ that looks like they just feel into a pile of hot topic clothes, yknow? really, just the classic cartoon character with the evil laughter and wonky design, because they're really fun to play with. but im scared that league want to be seen as a serious game will erase all of these characters in sake of making a "serious story"

Plenty of champions need model/art updates that aren’t on riots champion roadmap list.

I honestly prefer his Arcade skin over his base design even though it completely clashes with their original intentions with his design.

Okay but now that Viego exists if anyone was to look at skulls and spikes and skulls and spikes and skulls on official armour and go "yeah we look like the good guys, print" it would be the emo dumbass brat king.

I wonder if they didn't use a horse but some other multi legged animal. Like canine, beetle, centipede, or something but instead of using the bits of that animal they use human bits to make the shape of that animal. Like having 4 very human legs but placed in an animal way and the body is human but stretched and place in an other animal position and configuration. That would have done it for me. :3
