In 2007 Seattle Transit opened a new slogan “Ride the South Lake Union Transit” They reduced that to acronyms…nobody noticed till the morning of the big rollout! Men and women had worked on this for months. South Lake Union Transit is still called the S.L.*.T (without the asterisk) among the locals. Talk about a bomb of a promotional!

The Mooninite Panic. For those who don't remember, in 2007, Adult Swim promoted a new season of Aqua Teen Hunger Force by having a bunch of signs made with battery-powered LEDs depicting the mooninites, characters from the show, and placed in random locations throughout Boston, MA. The thing is, there was no overt indication this was a viral ad for a TV cartoon. Unless you watched ATHF already, you'd never recognize the characters. It led to people calling in the signs to the police, thinking they might be bombs. Adult Swim and the street artists commissioned to make the signs had to make a public apology about it.

In 2022, in Monterrey, Mexico, the city suffered a massive drought that went as far as taking their public water supply. What did state governor Samuel García and his wife do? Flexing his own water supply and his own private pool on social media, that's what. Right now it's electoral year in Mexico, and after securing an easy win with Samuel García, his party Movimiento Ciudadano is now struggling to keep up with PRI, PAN, PRD and MORENA in voting intent; all they have to do is saying "unlike Samuel García, we don't flex our private water supply, we will instead bring it to you :^)".

With the WWE/WWF: I legit thought That Owen Hart was going to be mentioned. He tragically lost his life at the May 23rd 1999 PPV called Over The Edge; his match was to be the sixth match of the nght. Hart's entrance was to be him descending from the rafters with a harness, but the harness way too early, causing him to fall into the ring from a height of 71 feet. After being rushed to hospital and medical tests; hart passed away at twelve minutes pasts eight in th evening. The live camera panned to the crowd; meaning that anyone at home didn't see what happened. That PPV has never been released on VHS and DVD. The PR disatser followed almost immediately; after a fifteen minute break; Jim Ross, who was the play-by-play commentator for the event, announced to those watching at home that Owen Hart had passed away. The show went on. Vincent Kennedy Mcmahon and other officials decided to carry on with the show. Also, the live audience didn't hear anything on the night .

Gerald Rattner. To explain, in a 1991 speech, he... 1. Said his products costed less than a Marks and Spencer prawn sandwich, which at the time was a prestigious brand in the UK 2.Said his produts were total crap This would have been fine if it was behind closed doors in a meeting at his company, he could laugh it off and say I was making a joke and it didn't land well, though Rattners had a reputation for being tacky but very very popular. He royally fucked up by having the comments taped and run on the front pages of the next day's papers. He still, to this day blames the media for blowing the speech out of proportion, but that was not an isolated incident. He went on Wogan to explain himself and did not do a good job with it. Every time he tried to explain it over the following days, he managed to somehow make it worse. Also the Osbourne computer is another one. Sell computer. Announce second computer and rely on sales from existing computer to fund making of second computer. Demand dries up and company goes under

That Osbourne scenario reminds me of Holy Ground Tiny Homes. They're somehow still in business despite being sued left right up and down by customers, for doing exactly that same thing. Using the money from one sale to build the next customer's house. They're consistently behind, because at no point do they have enough money to get caught up. And the thing is that since they are providing a product, it's not technically a Ponzi scheme or scam, so they can't go down for that. And since they're a religious organization, they're exempt from a whole bunch of other things. So they can basically screw people like my mother out of tens of thousands of dollars in the name of christ and nothing can stop them.

Close. It was a Pepsi points program, collect points and trade them for stuff. In the ad they had an AV-8B Harrier for an outrageous number of points. Obvious joke. Unfortunately for them, a smart kid realized you could buy points. So he created a business plan and got a bunch of companies to pledge money to buy the points to get the jet. He got enough and called Pepsi. Thankfully he never got one and they settled out of court IIRC. Pretty funny story looking back.

A businessman who figured out that using Pepsi points to buy the jet was cheaper than buying the jet with actual money. he got the money together, mailed a cheque to Pepsi for the points needed to buy the jet, and requested it. Pepsi sent an apology stating that the jet was never on the table, and that it was never meant to be an actual prize. The businessman took Pepsi to court, and the judge ruled that no sane person would believe that Pepsi was actually raffling off a jet. Pepsi pulled their original ad and re-aired it with a new price for the Harrier, 700M instead of 7M. kzread.info/dash/bejne/m2Sk0dSRitG7lKw.html

15:20 I decided to watch the kitchen nightmares episode mentioned here. the problem is that the woman is a delusional narcisist. She would constantly think that everyone was out to get or bully her. She was the only one cooking any food, choosing to have all other employees do basic tasks like waiting tables or even just pouring water. it was revealed that she had fired almost 100 people in the past year as of the episode being recorded. It didn't help that her husband working there would often pretend that the orders she was giving to people were better then they actually were, and enable her behavior towards both the customers and other staff. I have only been learning psychology for the past year and a half and counting, but even I know that this was certainly a dysfunctional work environment caused by extreme levels of delusional narcissism. The point at the end where gordeon ramsey was angry but yet calm at the same time was so surreal because it was clear that he wasn't overreacting to sell the show anymore. The two people running the buisnuess were so problematic that he was just showing disappointment with them, and that's much more powerful then any of the instances of rage Ramsey was so well known for in kitchen nightmares and any other TV program. It's truly unfortunate that other people like Amy and Sammy exist to begin with.

Still remember the Pepsi 349. For a period a promotion called Pepsi Number Fever ran where each bottlecap of a Pepsi product had a 3 digit number printed underneath and a number was drawed and revealed (forgot if daily or weekly but results were printed on major newspapers). Chaos erupted when the number 349 was drawn as a LOT of people had bottlecaps of the same number. Aside the death-threats received, one of the winners also died from a heartattack. There was even a TV hearing to address this issue. (IIRC the largest i got was 20 pesos which is about US$ 1. Although a relative got around P400 ~ P500 ($25ish).

1st story reminds me of a story from the 90s. Pepsi started a promotion where you buy their soda...get points, use said points for merchandise you'd normally get a catalog with a company sponsor. jacket, bags, cheap watches, etc. they had a commercial where to highlight this they should a teen using several products you could get with pepsi points and even how many pts they were. commercial ends with the teen flying his fighter jet to school with something like 700mil points. this of course was not an actual prize but pepsi failed to put a disclaimer on the screen stating a jet was not a possible prize. They thought...no way someone would save up 700mil pepsi points as that is a lot of soda....and also...no one would take it seriously. someone did take it seriously...and managed to save up that many points and wanted the jet. his plan was to rent it out or have it flown at airshows, etc. Pepsi refused, they sued. pepsi did end up editing the commercial to include a disclaimer, as a "it was always there". shouldve been an open and shut case. pepsi basically made a promise and didnt fall through on it. but court ruled in favor of pepsi basically stating....even though didnt give a disclaimer there was no prize for a jet.....it was too crazy to be true so pepsi was in the clear and didnt have to give it away. there is a documentary show on netflix about it called "Pepsi, where's my jet"

But several weeks after the Zoom meeting was leaked, and BL never came out and say “her statements do not reflect Anheisuer’s values, and we apologize to any Bud Light drinkers if they took offense to what she’d said.”

Two hydrogen, one oxygen, also known as H2O, aka water.

The Hoover PR story is not 100% correct. The first round where they gave away two tickets to limited destinations in Europe was successful, because they made it really difficult to redeem the offer. It was when they doubled down on the offer to flights to the US is where they come undone because people were willing to anything to redeem the tickets.

Yeah... got ripped to pieces by extremists who wanted to keep justice from taking place. Super sad to see but hey, you can only do so much with nut jobs who want to take over the country and drive us into the 16th century
