    Thank you so much for this and all your videos regarding becoming a Physician Assistant. I have a BS in Medical Technology, and from what it looks like, the classes I've taken pretty much fill in the prerequisites for some of these schools! I guess my only concern after this will be attaining direct patient contact hours since my current career deals with specimens from the patients and not the patients themselves. I'm still questioning whether becoming a PA is right for me, so I guess we'll just see what the future holds. Thanks again for sharing this information, and good luck on your own journey through PA school!

    I did psychology but I only had a major because the rest of classes were needed for required sciences. It was a b.s. so we did research so i know how to write papers and do research. I was actually close to a biology minor and if I would have thought about it early enough i would have had my major in psychology and minor in biology. The only class I didn’t take In undergrad that I went to do last fall actually was orgo 2 because back when I started applying that was not required but a lot of the new schools I applied to, they wanted that. So I took orgo 2 7 years after taking orgo 1. I did get an a :)

    Hi Adanna, I'm not even sure if you willl see this being that this video is over 2 years old, but I figured I'd share my circumstances. I'm 23 and technically a senior in college, but I'm not close to having my degree yet. I spent the first year of college slacking off and partying, the second year I got sick and had to withdraw from school, and third year I got back on my feet, but had a mental break down about what I wanted to do. My whole life my parents have pressured me to go above and beyond and do things they found pleasing. I thought i wanted to be and MD, but found pre-med alone to be difficult. I figured I'd try PA because it was similar to MD, but took a little less time...I took organic chemistry and failed it and I gave up. I then decided I wanted to do nursing come my 4th year, but now I've given up on nursing because of my mediocre GPA and not having a true passion for it. I'm now considering a bachelors Respiratory Therapy, but I'm not sure it's something I could do long term. Ontop of that, the program is 2 years and my parents keep beating me down about how old I am without a bachelors degree and reminding me that I'll be 25/26 by the time I actually get one which is "pitiful" in their eyes. I just started to reconsider pursing PA after my bachelors, but honestly at this point, I'm just sodisouraged from everything and I feel ashamed of my self. I'm questioning if everything I say i want to do is actually what i want to do. /:

    Since majoring in nursing would be mad expensive could you just major in surgical tech for your associates and then biology for your bachelors? The associates would be covering the healthcare prerequisite and the biology would cover the bachelors and science pre req? Does this sound right? Can someone comment on whether or not this sounds smart?

    I am going into college and I have chosen the major Healthcare Studies. Is this a good agree/major I should be doing for the PA track? I heard the Healthcare Studies major isn't that great in the long run but I know it is good for all the prerequisites that I need. I was thinking on changing my major to Psychology and minoring in Healthcare Studies instead if anything or just majoring in Psychology. Is this the right way to go?

    Hi, so I’m currently enrolled in a community college and I am majoring in nursing. I was wondering if I have to go through all the nursing requirements like getting LPN or BSN to get my bachelor’s degree in a university? Because, as far as I know, you have to have health care experience before you even apply to PA school, so I’m considering becoming an RN for an experience and then apply to PA program afterwards. I’m just not sure if I’m doing it right or wrong

  • @tayebaa.8215

    @tayebaa.8215

    4 жыл бұрын

    kim berly I feel like it would be practical bc almost all the prereqs for PA fall into a bio degree so that way you don’t have to take classes outside of your degree and pretty much the classes will count toward ur degree as well as ur prereqs. So I feel like it is practical but I don’t want to make that decision for you. But i think bio and public health do go pretty well together especially going into health care those two things are very prevalent. I chose public health as my major mainly to just have a backup plan Incase I change my mind about healthcare later on and decide not to apply. And I did a bio minor so I can do the prereqs and also get a minor out of it. But no matter what major and minor you choose, as long as u get the prereqs done and you know why you want to go into PA school, you should be all set.

    Raven, it's honestly up to you again to be a PA student you just need to have a bachelor's degree and then the prerequisite courses and healthcare experience, so if your Health information management degree is going to afford you the opportunity to get all of those requirements and then stick with it. If not then, go ahead and go to Kinesiology if that's what you want to have a foundation in because it is helpful to have a good Healthcare Foundation prior to PA School

    Im so confused why in the hell would someone go into nursing school and then go to PA school like I understand getting the healthcare experience part BUT its way cheaper to just get your bachelors degree and then apply to PA school instead of getting an associates and then applying to 4 years of Nursing school which is going to cost a shit ton PLUS the entire time you’re in nursing school you’ll be taught the nursing model of training and not the medical model so the switch from nursing school to PA school would be very....odd?? Can someone explain like why go to nursing school just to get the healthcare experience but you just spent a BRICK for a whole specialty at a school just for nursing? Like just get an undergrad degree and then apply to PA?

    More than likely you'll be ok the take the two GPAs and average them. To be completely sure on where you would lie with your GPA, you need to take all three GPAs average, but you have to put the classes in separately you can't just say oh 3.75+ 3.75 + a 3.0 and take the average of that you have to put all of your classes in separately with their different credits and hours and then get your GPA for all of the classes you've ever taken with your Masters and Associates as well as your undergrad.

    I feel many people do that if anything it's better because you have your foot in the door with healthcare any of the requirements to get into PA school need experience in healthcare such as emt, nurse, etc. I'm actually thinking of doing that myself, be a nurse then if I really like it become an NP if I don't like the nursing model then go straight to PA. But you need your BA in nursing to get into a masters PA program. I'd wait from a reply from Adanna to be sure because I'm kind of just researching myself. 23 and still not knowing what to do with myself all I know is I want to help people and be family oriented and flexible
