This is a great question, I actually asked Arnaud to answer it in this video - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5p418miZMvZoJs.html because I was curious if dust would affect the clock's operation. Turns out dust is too insubstantial to be an issue and you can just use a blower to clean it off.
