When you look back on what Jurgen has achieved in his time at Liverpool you can’t help but feel grateful to have witnessed it all. Knowing we had something some fanbases will never experience is humbling and really the only way to be at peace with his departure

Listening to this podcast has helped heal the disappointment a bit. That he learned from his Dortmund days and sought to leave Liverpool in a far better state, shows how much he cares for our club. Of course, if he changed his mind, I’d be overjoyed but I understand. He delivered on his promises and made us happy. Liverpool FC is a much better place as a result of him being our manager.

He goes out on a high, how rare is that in football? I'd imagine Wenger would've preferred to leave on his terms than be ushered out. Klopp, very smartly, goes whilst his heart is very much still in the job and not a minute later.

Fantastic job by The Athletic here. I’ve listened to a lot of (Klopp exit) ‘takes’ and this was by far the best informed and comprehensive. @johnmichaelwilson As I see it, Ferguson planned to go in 2012 with the team at its peak. City won it, so he hung on for a year to win again. Buying Van Persie was a risk and short-term thinking, but it got them the title. That year should have been a rebuild, but he kept the team together. Then he scarpered. Nobody could have succeeded with what Moyes inherited. It's like Liverpool 2022-2023 - too many players who were just knackered. Anyway, whatever happens, we back Liverpool FC. YNWA Alex

I think we all know why he decided to leave before his contract runs out. He's tired, he's running out of energy, and so far he's told us the truth. But why is he tired, why is he running out of energy? Because he isn't getting the backing he deserves by the owners. Klopp isn't the manager to go down on his knees and beg the owners to show some ambitions in the transfer market. Klopp isn't going to say anything at all, he'll just observe the situation, nod his head and plot his exit in silence. So there's FSG, and then you have City with Pepe Guardiola. Klopp's biggest rival. This might be the last chance Klopp has to get one up on Pep before his contract is over, so instead of staying 1-2 more seasons and perhaps win no more trophies he wants to leave with a trophy in his hand without giving Pep the change to get revenge. It's a bit cowardly if you ask me, but that's what's going on. It's the lack of initiative and ambition from FSG and worry of leaving Liverpool while watching Pep lift yet another trophy

  • @chrisconnor8086

Postecoglu has the least risk, he would hold the city and the squad united and at their best. Xabi, highest chance of a decade long success, tactical mind to take on arteta and guardiola If FSG want to go in a whole new direction for the next decade, they could get the best sporting director possible (dont know who) and nagelsmann as coach. He might lose faith with klopp era players but could build a machine in the long term. Largest risk of the three options

im a lifelong liverpool fan and i totally appreciate and love Jurgen - but we have to also be pragmatic and say that at times, i expected us to do better down the stretch - we lost two leagues by a point or two and out of three champions league finals only won 1 of them... 4 cups in nearly 9 years isnt good enough really BUT thats not the proper story of it i know that! I feel like his words are hollow after only last year saying it was "his club" and hes "where he wants to be" - 12 months later hes throwing the towel in and fckning off and all the backroom staff are going with him. I hope the club doesnt make the same mistake and revert back to that whole "transfer committee" when Brendan Rodgers was in charge, they absolutely shafted him - sold his best players and the transfer committee overruled him on who he wanted to signed and replaced Luis Suarez with Balotelli ffs! Some of the best stuff iv seen us play even now has been during the Rodgers era - he also signed some brilliant players for us which people forget... Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino all came under Rodgers, let the next manager come in and do it his way and support them the way we have Klopp!
