"Click this link to get 20% off the Kano Computer Kit 2017 online or in stores, from 10/27-11/10: getkano.co/2zPGOMt"
So incredible to see how tech has evolved over the past 36 years. This IBM 5150 is iconic.
The Computer Kit is the first computer anyone can make and
code. First, you put the pieces together, like LEGO. Then you power on
your computer and learn to code by making games, music, apps and art. Step by step for beginners of all ages.

It's nice to see your interest in vintage tech. It is terrible to see a perfectly working vintage monitor destroyed by intentionally smashing it. These monitors are increasingly hard to find in great shape and working condition.

i dont think thats how you open up a MS-DOS Compatible Personal Computer. JUST, unscreew the screews. THEN you'll find lots of old pcb. You'll probably find a Sound Blaster 16/2.0/2.0 pro, a 4.77 MHz CPU, some Random Acces Memory (512 KB). The old Personal Computer is really similar to modern-day PCs.

Yes, I do agree, but that is true. The only way to get Microsoft Disk Operating System (or MS-DOS) on it is if you use an older version and a lower capacity version onto a floppy disk drive. If you are not able to do that, you may need to use the boot disk. IBM DOS is similar to MS DOS. Microsoft Disk Operating System is Microsoft's version of DOS. It is less optimized for common IBM hardware, but more compatible with more unique PCs. IBM Disk Operating System is IBM's version of DOS. It is (obviously) optimized for common IBM hardware, but not really much for more unique PCs. You could (possibly, but I very much doubt it) get Windows 1.0 running. I seriously doubt that though.

This was not the first Personal Computer, in fact it wasn't IBM's first personal computer. It was their 5th personal computer, depending how you count. It actually doesn't matter, as being first was never why the IBM PC had such a large industry influence, nor was it part of its legendary status, it's just worth pointing out for the misinformed. The reason why it was so critical for the industry is that while almost every other computer company lost their stranglehold on the market, withered into debt, and died, the PC just kept evolving and becoming more powerful.

For those who are mad that they destroy the pc, The ibm 5150 is not that rare, it sold for 7 years before it stop making them, you can buy one on ebay for 600$, not cheap for a computer that old, but still nothing rare. it's also not the first pc made, it was only the the first PC to gain widespread adoption by industry. The first pc was made in 1975, the MITS Altair 8800, which doesn't have a screen, it doesn't run apple of window, you need to program your own software, that was the first pc and sad if one gets destroyed.

theoretically may be in some very special cases but in practice, they don't hold charge capacitors can hold the charge and that could be dangerous in a CRT monitor like this because of the high voltage and high capacitance of the capacitors. BTW this barbaric approach and not knowing about the stuff that's inside, say it all.
