That was a cool video. Several years ago I visited the Hoover dam and was able to go into the generator room but not down to the floor. If anyone hasn't been there they are truly missing one of the MOST amazing structures ever made by man. It will blow your mind how big that room is. Just think of the imagination, design skill, engineering and pure manpower it took to create the dam.

You basically went on the exact same tour the general public went on back in the late 1960’s, and yes, we could look out the vents about halfway back up. Back then they called it Boulder Dam, the other buildings on top besides the two elevator towers, are 2 two story public restrooms. If memory serves, there is a great view from the upper level. This brought back great memories for me.

I am amazed by the network of tunnels and all of the massive machinery inside. The thing is when you see footage of the dam being constructed it looks very much like it is solid from base to top? Obviously the amount of planning and thought all of the way through the project was immense. Would love to see some of the finer detail like that and the way they went about it. Thankyou guys for the insight to this engineering marvel.

This is really interesting, thanks for doing this video and sharing it with us! A number of years ago, I got to spend a night on Alcatraz, and with my group I got to go on an awesome tour of the island and the prison, covering the normal areas but we also went to a bunch of other places that most people don't get to see like the gun galleries (elevated walkways where the guards could watch the prisoners), the guard recreation room, the lighthouse, and other places. It would be really cool if you guys could arrange to do a video there!

awesome tour! We took the powerhouse tour, just to the generator room.............. My interest in that tour was because I worked on the Oroville Dam in 1967 as a welder and welded their penstock components together underneath those generators which is called a squirrel cage. Looking forward for your next video.

Oh snap. I was just at the Hoover Dam last Saturday with my wife, and dang, to think that there is so much more to do than what we can see from the surface is truly mind boggling. You guys truly had an awesome experience in being able to explore so much more than others do. I can imagine it gave a much deeper respect for the dam and all of the work that went into building it, and what all it does.

3:59 The exposed generator is nearly identical to your common house fan. Ironic, that the giant generator which supplies electricity to your appliances with motors such as a hair dryer, blender, kitchen mixer, heating/cooling fan is mostly identical except for its size. The thing that makes electricity is just like the thing that uses the electricity.
