What's inside Richard Hammond's secret tower?
Ойын-сауық
Richard Hammond has a dream home, nestled in the rolling fields of Herefordshire. And there is a specific part of his property that has always been a mystery to us - the white tower adjacent to his house. So what's inside? Richard takes us for a tour!

Hammond opens the door after 10 years and finds James sitting there...."Hello."
It's strange to think that we all had something we loved, but then one day we put it down for the last time. Often without even knowing it.

Amazing right?
What I find most interesting about this is that Hammond has to duck to enter the doorways. Was this originally built for children to work in, collecting eggs and doves for meat. I feel like Clarkson would get stuck trying to get through the doorway, and then a terrorist would come and do things to him.

The one where he tried to attach a fish drying rack on a motorcycle, helped Clarkson nick an ice machine, and James put half the Indian Ocean in his car and subsequently almost drowned in it?
Richard Hammond is possibly, one of the most well loved celebrities in the world. Anything he does is heartfelt and great to watch.

109th the telescope tower idea, I don’t know what the budget is for the tower but a sky window, decent telescope and a thermos to keep the cocoa warm is probably in the range of someone who works for Amazon.
People really like these fast forwarded pressure washing and renovating videos. I suggest first of all a total cleaning and outside paintwork. After that rip the inside all out to make a blank canvas. This also lets you inspect the state of the building construction more closely. After that this would make a great shed or a simple summer time sitting area. Include Mr May and his totally pedantic ways of explaining different tools and sheds.
The relentless march of time, devouring us then slowly withering us into dry leaves. The talk about watching the kids grow up? You nearly brought a tear to my eye there Richard Hammond! But take heart, at least all your endeavours amounted to something. At least you made something of yourself and can look back on your life with pride. Few of us are really so lucky. Most of us are merely dust in the wind, forgotten no sooner than we're gone, our accomplishments forgotten even sooner. :(

Terry Pratchett (RIP) had a small observatory in his back garden. It actually looked like an observatory though, and probably for a reason. If you were to convert this "tower" into an observatory, the first step would surely be to knock it all down and start over fresh. I like the idea someone else had about a smokehouse for meats though. That could probably work with the building more or less intact.

Get it fitted as and fully licensed as the smallest pub in the UK. It's surely small enough to fit the title. And there's space above for some small kegs and some storage, with a small cookplate for some pub grub. Dovecote Inn, perhaps.

I really do hope that Richard still has some of his Matchbox cars stashed away somewhere. Perhaps he can transform it into some kind of museum with all kinds of memorabilia dating from his childhood years spanning his entire career on television. Or, we could get Mike to narrate to us automotive stories from days of old with stunning visuals, from Motor Racing to the Cannonball run, & from People being liberated from East Berlin in a tiny Isetta to God's Rambo & the Ghost Camaro. Also including other less known stories like the Bosnian Phantom to the Japanese Midnight Run. Either way... Richard & Mike have the best story-telling and their content in that loft would be a joy to watch!
Coolest garden office conversion with balcony I think
Hammond have quite a beautiful home !
“Now on ‘What Next’, Hammond Kits Up to Explore a Wendy House”. Hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣 Love the play kitchen. I had something similar as a child. ❤️ My suggestion? Clean it up, paint it out and save it for the grand kids❣️ It’s such a great place for imaginative play - a Wendy House, a Pirate Ship - whatever! It’d be magic for them and you would be the Best Granddad in The World!

@@233Deadman Tarantula? Perhaps not, but most European countries do have their own choices of big, fat, eight-legged beasts (or maybe not that fat). England's seems to be the Cardinal spider, which can have a leg-span up to 12 cm. Sure, it's mostly legs, but tell that to someone who has even the slightest inclination towards arachnophobia.
Didn't expect this video to make me so nostalgic when Richard was talking about the remnants of childhood... I'll admit I may have cried a little :') Unfortunately I don't have any stuff left from my childhood, most of it's been given away - but I remember I had a whole array of stuffed farm animals, and whenever I lost them I'd just say they'd 'gone on holiday' haha I remember watching Richard Hammond's Blast Lab as a kid, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that I'm still watching him now. Top Gear + The Grand Tour has helped me through some low points in my life and I'll always have a special place for them in my heart - especially Hammond.

I have the same flashlight as the Hamster! My life is complete!
we built houses in the hedge rows at my grandparents house and we used to be in there all day, I dug up my brick that was the entrance to my "house" the other year. hard to believe its been so long

It's too small. However, animals would love it. Just like the tower from the "Goat Simulator". Really, a fun little building with lots of potential
I reckon Richard should build (although I'm not sure this would fit in the tower) a scale replica of either the Top Gear studios or the Grand Tour tent! Love these videos and the Drivetribe channel!
I’ve got two girls (8 and 5), and they have a dedicated play room in the house, and this video made me sad for the future of them getting older and forgetting the toys and room they both love so much now.
I smell a new restoration series...Hammond & May: Property Blokes. Hammond provides the sentimental and artistic vision and May gets to nerd out with tools and precision work 😁. Would watch!
I have seen this tower on his shows before and always wondered what it might be. Love when RH shares his memories with us. Obviously they are precious for him. 💜 I feel exactly the same way when I look at my daughter's childhood toys and dolls.. 🥺 And since they love having animals on their land, maybe it can be used again for animals... Thank you so much, lovely video... 🍃💕

Setup a stargazing platform/telescope if you are away from city lights. Downstairs would be a great snack bar/drinks bar with tables and chairs in the garden

Amazing
I think mrs Hammond can feel a Pinot Grigio cellar coming on or a G&T tower
I've also had toys from my childhood that I remember and treasured so much. Sadly, before we moved abroad, I had to sell them all :( . However, I wish that whoever gets them will have a happy time playing with said toys, as much as I did in my younger days 😊.
When i was Younger my Parents didnt Always Had Time so i spent my Day watching TopGear and Drawing. And Because of that Richard Hammond you Are My Childhood. Btw maybe a cool Dog House or An Artwork at the Outside.
Make a sancuary with items from old top gear, and things you're daughter's and wife keep close to their memories..and keep it classic❤️big love..
Not from my early childhood but my early teen years. Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks. I love them dearly. They were an escape from a childhood that was...not the best. Where I could pretend to be someone else who's only immediate problem was crossing a chasm or facing off against a pair of orcs.
I have an old stuffed toad, I got it from my mom before I can remember, it has a tin inside with probably a wodden ball, the tin has corrugated sides, so when you move the toad around it makes a kind of forg like sound. It still lives on the chest of drawers next to my bed together with my stuffed rabbit, elefant, horse and polar bear. Even at 34 I would seriously consider running into a burning building after my stuffed toad, it doesn't have a name sadly, but I cherish it dearly. There is one more thing I would consider running in and grabbing if the building was on fire, my computer, simply because I have soo many photos and personal things on it, but the toad would come first.

I don't know if they came about in the 90s but when I was a kid I had these fantastic little cars that had these platforms with two or three batteries in them which charged the cars up and they shot off when you put them on the ground. As for the tower, a writing room maybe? It's a lovely structure
Looks like the perfect place to park the lawnmower, or a shed for the gardening tools.
Fill it with broken mechanical things to attract James Mays to roost.
If the girls give a permission to renovate their kitchen, open it up on the inside, clean it out from all the spiders, mold and such, empty it as much as possible and then turn it to a power station with a small wind turbine on top. A vertical-axis wind turbine to be exact so that it doesn't take so much space on top of the tower and doesn't look like a ridiculous pinwheel. Wire it up to the house and you'll have a potential year-round small power source. Bonus points if you put a home battery in the tower to run the essential things like fridges and freezers if the power goes out. And once the battery is full, sell the excess energy to the local power grid.
Time to clean it up just in case for future grandchildren.
You should make it into a dovecot again, it's an important part of history and it should be preserved. And yes they were used both as sources of food and for messenger pigeons.
I like it as a miniature light house. Ditch the exterior stairwell. Spiral stairwell inside the structure complete with platform.
The best thing you could do; turn it back into a dove tower. 👍
Ok "what's next" keep it up,its great! Also, do food and cars..
You could rebuild it into a bird watching tower. perfect for a garden

You have to turn it into a play house ready for them kids and I did notice it’s got power so maybe a playhouse the kids can stay in overnight with radio coms. You could also rent it out alongside a static home for parents to stay close.
It would make a charming clock tower. Maybe just one chime at 6am, noon and 6pm so as not to be annoying.
Open it all the way up to upper ceiling and turn it into a place to relax and smoke a cigar and have a nice relaxing drink.
I love the Hamster! Lol
Distillery.... it's actually not in a bad shape, luckily, as we all now from previous episodes of any kind, Richard is not even a bit afraid of bugs, spiders and such stuff.Glad to see nothing was "squeeking on you". Nevertheless, cool tower, would love to have one of those
Oh for the love of. It’s called a broom.
Turn it into giant smokehouse. It has perfect setup. Fire on ground floor, food smoking on upper level.
What a great place for children
I suggest for a mini observatory
Well first thing should be making it safer to use and definitely replace that floor but beyond that I haven't the foggiest
Hammond, those girls are adults and you might be a Grandpa in the future... a restoration for your daughters and granddaughters or grandsons into the playhouse of their dreams using their old toys and ribbons, your old matchbox cars, , etc, would be pretty special to them I bet....
Richard Hammond and the spider adventures
Clean it up & give it to Mindy! She is so practical, look what she did with her Merc.
We have those in Spain as well but ours are round. Never seen or heard of a square one!!!!!
Cool maybe next we can see Clarkson's outhouse
Completely restore it. Something that cool in your yard should be renovated. I'd suggest inserting a spiral staircase to enable you to reach the very top for the views.
