This reminds me of how much of a nightmare is was for me to fix the charging port on one of these for a customer. 5 freaking hours of trying to solder. Finally got it though.

Yes eventho they arent expensive fixing is more ethical

Still have mine it lasted 4-5yrs until recently, I had issues after it paired 15-20 mins later it would disconnect it did that for about a month and each time the play time would be cut shorter. So i went out and replaced it with the life jacket 4, these are truly made to last i took mine to work for 3 yrs straight, on walks, hikes, to the park and beach pretty much anywhere i gave the poor thing a good beating i know she still good the battery is strong speakers are loud its just the losing the connection after a while, its worth cracking her open and taking a look, ggod video

There’s this weird black rubber/adhesive in front of my screws. It’s probably some kind of water proofing but the charging port fell inside the speaker so I was gonna throw it away anyways. Any advice on how to get that out of the speaker? Edit: ok I can’t fix that. The charging port has fallen off the circuit board and i would need steady af hands and a really small soldering iron to fix it. Oh well, now I have a couple 3 watt speakers and a lithium battery I can use for projects in the future...

I had same problem too. But i fixed it.

I originally bought an Altec baby boom. I.loved it. It finally died after Night after night I kept it hooked to the charger so I could watch movies. I killed the battery. Soooo I went and bought 2 more Altec speakers..the hydro link(?) With all the STUPID DISCO LIGHTS. I think they soldered in the lights back arse wards or something backwards because I have to click through every light setting to get to normal speaker mode. NORMAL SHOYLD BE THE 1ST SETTING. Thats why Im here..I want to know if I can open it up and snip the LED lights. I hate these things.

You should see my video on the jacket h2O 4 speaker. It is quite different inside and has 5-watt speakers! (Instead of 3-watt) probably giving it more power!

Anybody got the specs on the speakers? Mine are shorted out and clipping. I was thinking of replacing it but I was wondering if I should stick with some similar to it or upgrade the speakers?

USB housing breaks easily, unless you know how to fix..your screwed!

Any time i try to use mine the music cuts in and out.

Mine doesnt have the four screws, it has like a plastic screw that i cant take, what can i do, is the same model than this

i think it's the glue, cause it was in my case.

How did you get the USB housing out so easily? I've removed the two screws, but it won't budge. Tried using the hair dryer to soften glue, but still won't budge. Any tips are appreciated!

Okay, answering my own question for anyone else that runs into this. After removing the screws and having tried heat with the hair dryer, it still wouldn't budge. So I got a large pair of channel lock pliers and carefully wiggled it loose. It was glued in, so needed a little sideways force to convince it to come out.

Yes, it wasn't easy to get out the USB housing for the first time because it was glued , so i applied force to get it out.

well that is one of the wire of 3.5mm audio IN jack. I rarely use the jack, so not a problem for me. If you use the jack then it should be soldered right next to the black wire

My speaker wont turn on anymore but it will charge and reset. Any idea?

cause i have opened it many times for repairing purpose. For the first time it was very hard to open cause of the waterproof glue.

I unscrewed all 4 but i can't seem to pull it apart. It's still stuck

Yeah its because of adhesive. I used hair dryer and screw driver to pull it apart.

Does this make it not waterproof anymore?

jose miguel rojas vivas maybe, but only if it is pretty much perfect. There’s no guarantee it’ll be fine.

there can be many reasons like battery could be dead, amplifier IC could be damaged or may be any other reasons. You can tell by diagnosing the circuit board.

It's glued. Try hot air and screw driver to separate them.
