The nuts are cashews! theyre very good just roasted with salt, in spices or honey roasted. They also grow very strangely under the fruit their tree makes.

Army rations are designed to last years. My Dad left the British Army in about 1981 with some and my Mum and I were still eating the tinned ones in the mid 1990's! They were genuinely still fresh and tasted good. Spotted Dick is, apparently, indestructible! 🤣 There's not much of these I could eat, but of the ones you've shown this has got to be the most appetising, even to me! The great British mash without the meat would do me and the porridge looked nice too, thanks Scotland! I look forward to the next lot!

01:10 - I'm wondering if the drill was on hammer action, that causes issues when drilling wood. As for food that stays well for so long, it is packed in areas where there is no oxygen, as oxygen oxides/spoils food. Food packing areas use nitrogen and that is how food stays good for years.

alot of the poducts are packed with a gas that when sealed it can last for years, once you open it or let air in, it will spoil fast, depending on what it is ofc

You can make a rocket stove out of pieces of laminated iron and cement, which is very effective, but this torso works also. 👍

Even a few short lengths of 100mm/~4in box steel, cut & welded, makes a good rocket stove and some cases you can make a collapsible one to negate the need for welding, but need guides to ensure the lengths of pipe sit well together. Add some feet and a pan stand and dump your twigs in and get cooking. Not all off us can be chain sawing a tree down and saying 'It's to cook my dinner!' as you walk away leaving the rest of the sawed down tree where it stood. 😂👍

Reminds me of 1994 when Jacob Haugaard (danish comedian) was elected into parlament. Among his election promises were nutella in danish field rations, which was one of the things he actually got implemented (sadly, his promise of tailwind on al danish biking lanes ran into some trouble). I knew that danish field rations were good, but not this good!

Wheres all the Danes at? We usually love ourselves some foreign love. Also, I think the powder is what we call "Saftevand", its usually a sweet syrup like liquid (Though not quite, its not syrup, usually its just fruit extract with sugar), that you blend with water in a ratio of 1 part syrup, 9 parts water. Its like lemonade, except we do all the fruits.

Well its a sportsdrink .. a lot sweeter then saftevand and with dextrose (druesukker ) in it for energy its more like a gatorade then Saftevand 🙂

We give our soldiers beef jerky‘s and chicken jerky‘s sometimes as well!

Every time we went to the shooting Range our Sargent always snacked on these rations while we were shooting😅 Kida mad he didn't bring any for us😑 but we really can't complain about the food in the danish military, especialy in the navy, where i myself am. Our Cook even once made zebra for us on the ship, quite exotic😋

Haha never had cashews? 😂 They are some of the best snacking nuts in my opinion atleast i enjoy them over peanuts, hazel nut spread reminds you of Nutella 😂

In India this type of nut called Kaju

Old soldier here...the ration looks good in terms of ammount and variety, but seems very dependent on having plentiful potable water and a way to heat it...a draw back to freeze dried and dessicated rations. The plus side is they are easier to carry, being lighter. I wouldn't mind having this.
