@@major7004 We usually have 3 meals during the day. You start with Breakfast early in the morning (usually 5-8am before school/work), then you have dinner(biggest meal of the day, usually around 2-4pm) and supper, light meal before you go to bed (in region of Poland I am coming from you usually eat sandwich or sausage and drink tea for supper, usually around 6-9pm)

All of it tastes great and is healthy. Polish breakfast was always the biggest meal giving you energy for the day (cause you never know when you'll eat next), then dinner around 3-4pm and supper is only a small meal in the eve. Healthy.. is here the key.

Poland MRE is nice.

This is very interesting to watch after having seen the “Band of Brothers” miniseries, particularly the episode about the Battle of the Bulge. They had so little nutritious food for so many soldiers and the quality was so poor... what a luxurious feast these meals would have been for them. Yeah, yeah, some of the stuff here looked kind of... well, a little unappetizing for the pampered, spoiled, picky First World civilian, but I imagine if you’re hungry 24/7 for weeks in a stressful, traumatizing situation these meals would have been like Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners all rolled into one.

MhaZG no, I don’t know where they got plutonium from, the chemical name calcium carbide denotes that is is made up of calcium and carbon atoms. I don’t know if it is actually calcium carbide though, I’ve heard it’s mainly magnesium along with a few other things.

In Poland it's not breakfast, lunch and dinner but breakfast, dinner and supper, i.e. the middle meal of the day is the biggest and the last one before going to sleep is small. This is how everyone in Poland is being raised and Polish soldiers are used to it. For the very same reason Polish soldiers eating US Army MREs complain about not being able to fall sleep unless they eat US dinner before US lunch.

"Hmmm, everything is packed and I'm ready for tomorrow." "Oh wait I forgot the microwave! I couldn't have cooked the porridge without it!"

The Polish MRE is not the military version, but civilian. The main meals and side dishes are more or less the same as in the military. Ukraine has another, bigger military MRE with flameless ration heater included

However, I read that recent Polish MREs contain also few Nescafé 3in1 sachets... so maybe these candies didn't fulfill their role.

The fat is important. It provides a lot of calories. Soldiers are going to need those extra calories. Unless you have a very physical job or you work out a lot you don’t need all those calories the fat provides.
