How doable would something like this be for a total beginner? Someone who's never done this sort of stitching before? I've done hand embroidery and cross stitch for years (along with quilting and hand applique) but have never touched this sort of sewing. I'd love to try it, but I don't know if my previous experience will translate if that makes sense.
