What’s Happening In The FISH ROOM!!! Heaps Of RAMS!!!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

G’day everyone!
Thanks for tuning in to this week’s video!
This week we show you guys the tail end of the projects still kicking off in the fish room shed.
There are very productive black celestial spawns and very promising signs of already an even more superior characteristic outcome for our most recent out crosses.
Hope you all enjoy the video!
Happy fish keeping!

Great video. Thank you for always sharing awesome content. You said you breeders are laying eggs every week or week and a half. What do you do to trigger a spawn so frequently? What do you feed the breeders? I have a colony of Electric Blue Rams and the stopped spawning.

Hey Justin, another great video. Just a few questions…so, any advice on how long I should feed the free swimming blue ram fry the egg yoke mixture ? And when I should start to introduce the newly hatched bbs food ? Any advice would be appreciated…thanks 👍

  • @JustinsFishRoom

Awesome!! You should feed the egg yolk once free swimming for their first 3-5 days depending on how quickly they grow. You can then start introducing BBS when they are big enough to eat it 🙂👍

Hey mate! I'll make it simple for you and say that I just use tap water because that's what I do:) This video coming up tonight will show you how my municipal water can sometimes be a bit all over the place. But just use a combination of tap and RO if you are trying to achieve a specific parameter. If there is nothing really wrong with your tap water then there's no worries.

I have a GBR that just spawned for the first time last weekend. It was unexpected as I didn't think she was into him, lol. Anyway the eggs lasted 2-3 days and then I woke up yesterday and they were gone, so I will put a loose flat rock on top of the one they just did their spawn on so I can remove it easily next time (he's already chasing her around again). How long should I wait? Should I remove it asap into my 5 gal. quarantine tank, or something smaller?

I would keep the eggs in the water 1 hour after they have finished fertilising and laying. This would be ideal!

hi justin, first of all you make great videos! I currently have 8 black rams that I would like to breed. in this video you tell them that you don't grow them pure and so cross them with a different color for better genes. I thought that your offspring would be blacker if you only breed the black ones even if they don't breed pure. I look forward to your answer and future videos!

Hi there Sofie!! This is a great question! To an extent this is correct. But not for long. The gene pool is a lot more important than colour selection. If you outcross with another colour morph, you are directly improving the genes by increasing randomisation and variability in the genome rather than honing in on that trait and making the resulting progeny bottle necked (low variability). I have just experienced that the quality and even colour is 10 fold better in a cross. Hope this helps clarify 🙂👍

Hi there Richard! It depends on the type of fish. But Rams don’t turn on their offspring at all. They just get a bit territorial🙂👍
