Hi Colin. Hapy New Year to you and all of your subscribers. Trust this year is awesome for everyone with huge amounts of productivity and creativity but above all fun!! Super excited about the community idea!! I have been longing for something like this for ages. Soooo often I want someone to rip out an amazing guitar or sax solo on a tune I'm working on to finish it off but I'm not a guitar or sax player. If this can lead to great collaborations, I will be a happy camper!! Sounds like an exciting year ahead and I am looking forward to meeting up with the Band Guide Community. Cheers Dave
Your garage band guide and especially the drum tutorial has been a game changer thank you!
Sweetwater is the spot. I love all the content Colin, happy New Year. I've learned more here than anywhere else by far. For me it would be great to see a video about kind of your workflow. How do you organize your recording sessions, how do you organize your tracks in a DAW, etc? These kinds of things are different for everyone but I'll bet you've found some best practices that could apply to many. Thanks man, looking forward to the Community.
So, I typed this before you said it: Colin, I’d love some in the studio videos one day. Similar to when we watched the recording of Broke Royals’s last album but technical behind the scenes stuff. I think it’d be cool to see a plugin chain in real life (…well, on YT anyway, but close enough lol) Congrats on the partnership Colin! I’m so happy for you and how far you’ve come with this channel! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Freakin stoked for the studio tour and build🙌🏻🙌🏻 Happy New Year!
Wishing you too a very happy and fruitful New Year. God be with you and bless all your labours.

Thank you, Dr. Somanna!
Thanks Colin, just found you one week ago and I’ve already mixed/mastered three songs. Will definitely purchase from your links moving forward. I already love Sweetwater so it’s the perfect combo. Congratulations 🔥
Happy New Year, Colin. Thank you for all your help in '23. Here's to a well balanced, nicely EQ'd, discreetly compressed '24.
Also, I’ve really learned a lot from all your GarageBand videos. Super appreciate it! Thank you!!! 🙏🏻
I love Sweetwater as well I am luck enough to live in Indiana so I can drive there if I want. My engineer is Zach and he’s amazing!
Great to see you again Colin I have really enjoyed your video and tutorials. Best wishes in 2024
Looks like an exciting year Colin. Best to you and the family from Scotland.
Happy New Year!!! Best of everything to you and your family in 2024 and beyond. A heartfelt thanks for the incredible amount of knowledge that I have soaked up from you and your amazing channel. Keep it flowing brother!!
happy New Year! Thanks for all the vids and tips. My most recent guitar and amp were bought at Sweetwater. I'm from Northwest Indiana and it's awesome that the warehouse is right there. You can go through their digital catalog of gear and if it's not in the showroom, they will grab it from the warehouse and you can test it out. The pedal wall is amazing in itself. I'm very interested where all of this is going. :)
Happy New Year also to you and your family, Colin🎉

Happy new year!
I am excited to see what you bring to us in the new year, Collin. I have signed up for the waitlist. Now, I'm going to ask for a video. As you might remember, I am only into using Garageband as my DAW for a couple years now. I have a small room studio, (an old bedroom now that I'm retired from "real" work). Aside from using the Garageband drummer, I do everything else on my songs. Recently, I bought a Carbon 49 Keyboard controller for my studio. I have very little idea on how best to use it. I can play some primative stuff on my piano. Although, I don't have a specific genre of music that I stick to in my songwriting, I do come out of a basic blues/rock 50's- 70's understanding of sound. Could you do a video on using a keyboard/controller with Garageband/Logic?
Sounds great! I would like to see an in-depth lesson on electric guitar sounds. One of my hardest tasks is making really good sounding guitars in Logic. I've seen your run-through of the virtual amps, virtual mic placement, etc,... but there has to be more. I would like to know more about that.
“Pair of strings” - haha! Love that you do not edit ✍️ things like that out. I have those exact headphones because of you! Love the studio focus! Would like to see you do something on GGD and Mixwave drum kits - especially as a drummer yourself.

The 'pair of strings' comment wasn't an error. Colin was obviously thinking of all the Erhu, Dotar, and Ravanahatha players out there. That's how comprehensive this channel is.
Hi Colin. First off love your channel! You’ve taught me so much. Thank you! How about some videos on Logic for Ipad?
Happy new year Colin, hope you had a nice break and that is was extra special with your new arrival.

Thank, John! Hope you and the family did, as well!
Congrats on your success! This is my go-to channel and you deserve every bit of praise for the great content and tutorials. Love it! When you're doing the studio tours, one of my favorite things is to see the engineer do some real life mixing. Like for instance that guy Chris Baseford who has mixed Nickelback amongst others, to see him do "regular" work and to see his approach to mixing is really interesting. Maybe you could do some of that. Best wishes for a great 2024! 👍👍

Agreed
I’ve really been enjoying full mix session videos. Probably very time intensive to make a 6-7 hour video, but what I love about this channel is the accessibility (GarageBand is great as a free DAW; you tell us about great free plugins). But watching a full mix (or master) session with your engineer and teacher hats on would be a great resource, I think. Defo interested in the community as well. I can only get so much from solo projects and reading the big recommended audio engineering books. Maybe there could be a group mix or something where everyone on a call has inputs. Or mixing circles where we all pass around raw project files to have more practice opportunities than by ourselves or cold calling on forums. Could be great genre and instrument diversity (like someone who only uses midi drums on their own getting to mix and process a live kit). Could be a great tool. Can only get your own hands so dirty in your own 2-3 month projects one at a time.
Congrats on the Sweetwater deal! I, too, grew up in Muncie (Burris and the old Northside HS). I guess it’s time to switch from GarageBand to Logic Pro?

CRAZY, Stu! I went to Burris! 2nd-12th. Such a unique experience. Only if you need to and are ready! Have you seen my video on "Should you Switch from GB to Logic?" kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6CNxbikpdOzidI.html

I have seen that. I will review. I think I’m at the right place to switch. I’ve only done one complete (published on DistroKid) recording in GarageBand, so I’m not in too deep yet.
MIX & MASTER 🤓🆒❤️🦾🤖
Have you done a video on the multipressor yet Colin, might be an interesting one.

Great call, John- I have not! I'm hoping that's a plugin that gets a refresh this year...
Happy New Year, and wow, congrats on the Sweetwater deal! They really are a great company to deal with. I'm not sure if you've already done a video where you've discussed this, but what are your thoughts on recording dry vs. recording with effects?...
@TheBandGuide

Happy New Year! Depends on the situation- I typically record guitars with the effects that I want (but might also add some after- especially stereo reverb/delay). For other sources, I typically prefer to record dry.

I agree Sweetwater is a Top-Notch company. I have used them many times in the past and will in the In the future. I do have a question if I can ask it here. I'm working with Garage band right now but should I change and go to Logic Pro??? what do you think?
Anyone having issues with GarageBand not opening with the latest software update?
YOURE FROM INDIANA?!! BRO I BEEN LEARNING FROM AN INDIANA MAN THIS WHOLE TIME?! IM DOWN IN MARTINSVILLE 😂 LETS LINK UP COLLIN!
