This might be a weird request, but can you tell me how to open it? I had it open the other day, loving it as much as you do, even though i had just started getting into it, not sure why i have not been digging through it daily, anyway, my laptop crashed and now i had to backup as much as i could and so it wasn't in the "open recent" tab of the preview anymore and now when i click on the file it opens in hundreds of windows with thousands of tabs and just looks so weird compared to the compact, great looking manual it was before. I am sorry to bother you with this, i am still a stoneage ooga ooga man when it comes to computers, haha, truly awful, if it were up to me i'd have a console, tape machine and some sweet outboard, but here i am, broke with a broken laptop, hehe, i would really appreciate me if you could show me in the right direction, so i can enjoy that brilliant manual again in the future, thank you!

I thjnk Luna is the most exciting DAW to come out in a long time and has a ton of potential. There are still things that need to be added such as hardware support, better MIDI funtionally etc, but I love Luna. It seems like UA has not spent a lot of time focuing on LUNA as their YT videos and live streams stopped a year ago and U?A has gone silent. Hope they continue to develop Luna.

@@DistantSunStudios Thanks for your reply Matt. It is appreciated. I'm already into a number of days using LUNA. I simply love it thus far. That too is an understatement. I have no doubt that LUNA can easily become the forerunner in the near future. Please continue working on its Windows version with full confidence. Making records in the present day with LUNA will certainly preserve the analogue philosophy. But it will also ignite an interest in the younger and newer gen of musicmakers to be instrumental in its preservation in the realisation that great records have a very distinct sound. Therefore LUNA. All the best.

Yes! That's what I thought 28:30, the analog summing emulation in Luna is more than just plugins. A UAD representative wrote somewhere that the op-amps in the summing circuits have been simulated in Luna. I don't know if it's still digital linear addition in the final summing in Luna but at least not just plugins.

Luna for windows is trying to become a combination of Harrison's Mixbus GUI with Apple's Logic Pro features and functions. But still I prefer Logic Pro for Music Production & Audio Pre-production and Mixbus for Audio Post-production. I do use UAD plugins during Audio Production that I have purchased. But I am not using Luna because it lacks many features that Logic Pro and Mixbus have and the ease of working with it (not user friendly as compared to Logic Pro and Mixbus). I tried Luna to produce my music but it need to include more features and functions to attract more Windows users.

Hi, thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍 It’s great to hear that like myself, you an early adopter of Luna! Yes, the auto save in Luna is different to other DAW’s. If I want to save a particular stage of a recording or mix - then I tend to use the bookmark function. However, if I want to create an alternative mix, then I’ll save a new version. It is different to other, but you can also in the settings decide where you would like the session folder to be saved. In a roundabout way you get there! I run an audient asp800 adat into an apollo twin and have console set up a very specific way that allows me to have all my keyboards, amps etc. plugged in and ready to go to either monitor or record. But LUNA wants to take over console not matter what I do, and I have tried EVERYTHING people have recommended on the forums, and what UAD talks about in terms of isolating channels and console tracking mode. I think LUNA is good for someone who has a very simple set-up.

Hi, thanks so much for watching and leaving me a comment. I really appreciate it man. The two main features that Luna lacks at the moment hardware inserts (with delay compensation) and multi outputs for VST instruments. If these are not deal breakers for you, then I think Luna would actually be a great fit for your style of music. The extension integration and summing would really add incredible character to your tracks. When driven the Neve swimming in particular really add weight and punch the Max in a way that I’ve been unable to re-create in any other d.a.w. It’s free and I’m pretty sure you can trial all the extensions for 30 days. Give it a go hardly to know how you get on. 👍 Matt

@@snubdawg1386 thanks so much for coming back to me - I’m sure you’re not going deaf! It’s the culmination effect of the extensions across all the tracks, and the effortless integration that I like in Luna. I’m also a big fan of softtube, and have their console one MK3. I was mixing on it only this morning and absolutely love it. However, if I’m entirely reliant on using the drive and tape on individual tracks - although in solo things can sound great, the overall mix usually ends up slightly muddy, and I have to go back to clean things up. This is why Luna is different for me, it reminds me of when I used to mix through a console to tape. The extensions are built into the software and have been modelled on a console as a unit if that makes sense?. You can just switch them on and it just works. Everyone will have their own preference for working, and I’m certainly not saying that I’m right! Definitely use whatever works well for you and gets you there quickly. I use it for summing. What I want is for UA to partner with a console maker (API or Neve or SSL or whoever) and create a control surface that is essentially a full sized console that runs on LUNA / UAD on the back end. The idea of a “generic” control surface where you have to map generic physical knobs to virtual knobs seems so boring to me. The software is there. Now marry it to the hardware and take all of our money.

I nearly screamed my head off. I purchased the Sound City Studio emulation which is awesome. But I really didn't need 16 gigs of a demo dump. And for that stunt? Of course Luna is hype. It's a daw ...and not even an especially good daw because it lacks too many features that have been standard on other daws for years. I think the original intent, when Luna was prematurely released early in the pandemic, was to catch Luna up quickly because UA saw the development of proprietary plugins for Luna as a new revenue stream. But along come those M1 Macs with their ridiculous amounts of processing power and suddenly UA's DSP scheme (which was a wonderful thing for many users with computers too underpowered for their projects) is looking very long in the tooth almost instantly. So the people who were going to work on catching Luna up with the industry, now have to work to move plugins over to native processing because UA loses too many customers. And years later, UA hasn't done either thing very well. Luna is still lagging behind just about every other daw and UA's native rollout is, at best, like a faucet with a slow drip. That neither move has produced desired revenues is evident as UA is now reneging on a statement they made in response to a pissed off customer base when they first started rolling out native versions of plugins. They told customers that if you owned a dsp version of a native plugin, the native plugin would be free. And that was true... for a while. They would roll out a native plugin and the license would be added to your account if you owned the dsp version. That has now changed. As it sits today, the customer has to use a coupon placed in their cart to add the license to their system. And if you don't do it within 30 days, you'll have to pay $3 for it. They're opening the door to charging us twice for the very thing they said they would not charge us for. A quick glance at the UA forum, as well as threads on various music forums and within Facebook groups, makes it clear no small number of customers are unhappy with this move. But these are problems of UA's own making. That sat on their reputation for far too long. It's true that they once sat atop the plugin mountain, clearly the best of the lot and by some distance. However, the competition has caught up and there are great plugin alternatives to UA. In addition, the dsp chips UA uses are no more powerful today than they were more than fifteen years ago when UAD-2 was first introduced. In tech time, fifteen years is an eternity.

Many times Luna crashes for no reason and I lose hours of work. My client, who just recorded the best guitar solo of his life, went to hit me. No auditioned unlimited undo works in these cases. Luna doesn't even have basic functionality like ARA or hardware insert after all these years. Often the sound is digitized for no reason. I have problems with delay compression for the CUE bus click in a full project Signal routing when multiple Apollo cards are involved is unnecessarily complicated. When reamping I have to switch the monitoring from the main 16x Apollo card to the silver Apollo if I want it to work. I still like LUNA but please work more precisely.

Luna is kind of an odd endeavour full of contradictions. It won't let you use VST3 but they obviously could if they wanted to. After all, Softube Console One works perfectly well in Luna as VST3 as do all the SSL channel strips. You can't purchase the Neve summing strip to go with the API one unless you have an UAD audio interface, however in the trial version of Luna Pro, the Neve summing works just fine without an Apollo interface. WTF are they on? And lastly, to claim how far they have come in a comparatively short time compared to other daws is just bullcrap. Luna is riding on the backs of every other daw that paved the way for the last 30 odd years.

You get coupons you dont have, they give away plugins and take them back and this is all within the last couple years. Again, they make great products but their own marketing department shoots the whole company in the foot. That and their ADD style product releases. 400 dollar guitar pedals coming out left and right while their DAW, plugins and hardware needs attention. Leave pedals to BOSS, keep innovating great studio gear.

For now it’s really not a professional DAW. It’s lacking too many features to mention.

Tried Luna for Windows, since im fed up with Apples money grabbing policy and moved to PC. It cant hold a candle to Pro Tools or any other pro DAW in an unforeseeable future. It keeps crashing on even the most basic setup with UADs own hardware (x8) and defaults to ASIO. It has problems running above 48kHz and crashes consistently. It keeps crashing when using 3rd party virtual Instrument plugins like East West and cannot separate Virtual instruments in sub-tracks, something that is a dealbreaker when using orchestra and drums. Its a banana product at this stage and a vehicle to sell UADs plugin and totally unworthy of a pros time and effort. If I am to participate in software development then dear Universal Audio pay me or do a better job!

Hi Scooby Doo! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Yes, I’m sure there is a lot to do before the beta version becomes stable and it officially released for Windows. Some of the features that you’ve mentioned, I’ve been highly requested and I’m sure will come to Luna in time. Until then, it will need to be more established DAW for you but it’s great that you’ve given Luna a try.👍 Thanks again for watching, all the best, Matt

Luna for Windows? What for? Windows will NEVER EVER have a big user community within the professional music production world and that is due to the fact that Windows itself is not stable not reliable and not flexible and fast enough for music production. I’d propose a iPad LUNA would make much more sense as iOS is coming fast - it is the most modern and lean operating system today. Also, I would integrate MIDI MPE as fast as possible into Luna.

PLEASE let us: Make folders (And folders within folders), and change shorctuts, to be able to transision from other DAWS, for now, it looks beautiful but it's 100% unusable, unless it's your first DAW and you don't mind looking at ALL your tracks at once. (Yes, I already sent feedback through the app many times)
