So wonderful this video, where you go in depth with LUNA, but mainly your approach to plugins and mixing/mastering is fantastic. Pete really enjoyed this video. I appreciate how you shared your recording workflow with the LUNA DAW. It looks like a very nice graphic interface especially for guitarists. One of my biggest struggles as a singer/player is developing a DAW workflow that simplifies getting to that creative point. That point where you spend less time navigating software but instead just play and create.

The toontrack software makes it really simple to tap in a general idea of the feel you want and then it scans it's library for patterns similar to what you've played. You can grab any of those you want, edit them, mix and match. It's pretty easy unless your pattern idea is just a unique beast, which happens sometimes when you're trying to duplicate certain real drummer recordings.

It'll be interesting to watch how this develops - UA are being very clever by giving away a full DAW if you buy one of their interfaces, but does the user want to be locked in to the UA platform? It's a shame there's no Windows version, otherwise it would tempt me enough to go with UA when I next upgrade my interface just to experience Luna. I question whether the market needs, or will support, another DAW, as the ProTools/Logic/Cubase thing is so widespread, and "knowing" your DAW means speed of operation, which is valuable to a professional user. Great demo as always!

In case you don't get a response…he was on a UA video yesterday and said he started out with finding the beginning guitar sound through the Boss pedal and figured out what musical idea he wanted to develop, played a bit of that into the box, and then figured out what sort of beat would work. Once the drums were fleshed out a bit he re-recorded the main idea and filled in the parts. Obviously he wanted to show a different side to the pedal midway through, so he restarted the process with a different drum and bass sound. For a demo it works really well!

hello Love your video and I am currently trying to switch to luna and all UAD, apollo, plugins, Luna DAW. I was on windows, 10. What Mac Are you using to record all this? what CPU, GPU and RAm would you consider adequate to run something like this with superior drummer 3. given that the CPU power runs on the apollo hardware. Thank you

I still can't get away from an LA-3A on bass. Not for how it sounds to me. There is something is the low mids that is always just pleasing.

Great video. Pete, do you think a more basic UA Apollo Duo could handle all of that processing power with all those plugins and channel strips on at the same time? I feel like I would max out my resources immediately and honestly that’s keeping me from trying Luna a bit more extensively. Your recording sounds awesome by the way.

You might need an accelerator to do this session, with an Apollo Twin I got one awhile back for my Duo.
