    Hi Matt. Once you have created a loop area in the orange header, how do you delete that loop section when it is not needed any longer. Also, is there a way in the timeline to rewind a little or fast forward rather than using the transport controls to just go to the beginning or end of the session.

  • @DistantSunStudios
    @DistantSunStudios12 күн бұрын

    @@albrat2870 great to hear from you and really good questions! I have to admit I haven’t been able to find the way of removing the unused orange highlight on the loop ruler once it isn’t needed anymore. Thank you for reminding me, I need to ask Drew about that one! There are a couple of ways to move around the timeline quickly. If you click on the three vertical lines to toggle on the mix workflow, which is located to the right hand side of the navigation play / stop buttons at the top - after the global and monitor headers. This will reveal the tracks in small horizontal lines and you can click to move the play head wherever you like. The other method is to create markers for the different sections of the song, and you can then jump from one marker using the shortcuts control option L or control option , You can just double click on a marker and that will take you there as well. I hope that helps and let me know if a video would be helpful and I’ll add it to the list! Thanks again and have a great day! Matt

    @@DistantSunStudios Thanks for the prompt reply Matt. Useful information on moving around the timeline. I have been testing the beta version for Windows for the past month and it is very well designed from a GUI standpoint as well as functional layout. I have been spoilt using Reaper for the past 4 years which is very customizable and lacks nothing from a user standpoint. While Luna for Windows is still in Beta and could be a lot more customizable, the main aim of a DAW is to get the best possible recording, mix and master and Luna excels in that area, so I think I will be moving across.

    Hey, this is great, thank you. LUNA is OK for Tracking I guess, and it's got so much going for it. For many people though, it's just not there yet and given the following is still nowhere to be seen after all these years, it's safe to assume they'll never get around to implementing these things and they just don't want to do it. You can't use your outboard hardware, as there are no time compensated hardware inserts, which makes it redundant and useless for anyone wanting to use outboard. No ARA2, no multi outs and the editing on midi is useless as there is no info regarding note details. I can't understand UAD for ignoring and not implementing these things, but I guess they're just marketing LUNA at beginners. I've heard them talking about switching between DAWs and LUNA to use the basic functionality that isn't there on LUNA, but who would do that? I don't have time to mess about doing that and I don't think I'm the only one.

    @athonygraham8353 - thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment - I really appreciate it! It would be so nice if UAD would give LUNA a different set of shortcuts on German (and other) international keyboard layouts. The most basic stuff works, but all the interesting stuff that would really accelerate my workflow is not practical or memorizable on any non-US keyboard. Unfortunately they have not listened to my feature request yet. So if you want to do me a favor, please let them know that this is needed badly for international users...!

  • @DistantSunStudios
    @DistantSunStudios16 күн бұрын

    Hi thanks so much for watching - that's a really interesting comment! Out of interest, are you able to easily use and remember the shortcuts form another DAW? It's not a loaded question - I just wondered if you could assign the shortcuts from another DAW inside Luna if this would help? Also, I must admit that I use a Stream Deck for most of shortcuts across the software that I use. You can really easily program any keyboard combination or macro - then save it for a one button press. It also saves me having to remember them all! Here's a link to a promo video if you haven't come across them: kzread.info/dash/bejne/goOolo9xkpPPgKg.html Thanks again & have greet weekend! Matt

  • @mennigmann
    @mennigmann16 күн бұрын

    @@DistantSunStudios Hey Matt, the problem is not the memorising process, the main problem is that the LUNA shortcuts are tailored for US-keyboards. On a German keyboard layout you need to be a finger acrobat to reach certain combinations, while other combinations are not even possible to reach. I use some SSL controllers to which I assigned some shortcuts, but as you know, when you get fluent with the shortcuts on your keyboard you are able to really accelerate your workflow. But if you only can use some of them and they are not layed out intuitively its more a pain in the neck....

  • @DistantSunStudios
    @DistantSunStudios16 күн бұрын

    @@mennigmann Ah - I understand now! Yes, I totally get that. Out of interest - is the German keyboard layout supported in other pro apps? I also have an SSL UF8 which I use for a few shortcuts. I would be maybe look at a Stream deck - they're relatively inexpensive and you can use them on any application. At least you wouldn't be dependent on the developers to incorporate the German keyboard layout for you in software. I Hope that's of some help and thanks again for watching! Matt

    @DistantSunStudios Hi Matt, I'm mainly producing music using midi. for example, i set my loop for 4 bars, then record midi. When I click anywhere on the timeline the 4 bar loop markers goes away. I then have to reselect the 4 bars again to make it loop. In studio one the loop markers stay no matter where I go in the timeline.

  • @tbonebeats6429
    @tbonebeats642921 күн бұрын

    @@DistantSunStudios I found the answer on uad site : To make the looped region stay when you click on the timeline in LUNA, you need to disable the Link Edit/Play Selections feature. Here’s how you can do it: 1. From the LUNA menus, choose Navigation > Link Edit/Play Selections. 2. Alternatively, click the Link Edit/Play Selection icon on the Bars and Beats ruler. This will allow the looped region to remain active even when you make selections on the timeline.

  • @DistantSunStudios
    @DistantSunStudios21 күн бұрын

    Hi @tbonebeats6429 - thats great! I did have a look at it just now, and the main things I noticed are: - if you drag to create a loop at the very top of the screen - actually on the loop section (above BAR | BEATS), this will create a yellow area for selected the loop. - To the right of snap button, if you enable the "link edit / play section" icon, you can now position the playhead to move around the session and playback away from the loop. But if you go back the loop that will still be highlighted yellow (that you created before) and click on it, the loop will come straight back. - On the actual loop, you can also adjust the in and out points by dragging at the start / end, and if you select the loop and then hold down the mouse - you can drag to loop to another position in the time line. I hope that all makes sense! Have a great week, Matt

    Hi Mike, thanks so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it. Yes, it really is a tough choice when getting a Matchless for the first time. If you have a favourite amp style, then that can be a good place to start. - The lightning and HC 30 are very chimey - similar to a Vox. - The Laurel Canyon is more of a take on a fender deluxe. - The independence can be more of a high gain option. The 3015 does seem to set on its own. It’s a really unique tone. Unfortunately I no longer have mine, but I can say having also owned a beautiful HC 30, the 30/15 is probably my personal favourite! Folks, make sure you’re taking advice from people who are actual experts and respected peers in the field they’re offering advice in, and not just some product rep or tech geek who doesn’t actually use the tools for a living as a professional. Too many people in the consumer music equipment business think they’re experts enough to give advice in areas they’re not actually experts or respected in. It’s an ego boost for them, and they usually have an ulterior motive. Heavy grain of salt here.
