We get the justification for the race. What people have problem with is the extremely high cost to participate. That is what defeats the "level playing field" claim. Only very affluent families people can afford to participate. Thats what drives people nuts about it.

Do you mind explaining more, in what way could they make it cheaper in the grand scheme? It takes a week to do practice and 3 motos for all those classes no way around that, a bike cost what it cost that has nothing to do with the combs family that’s manufactures prices for a bike. They have a stock class if you can’t afford to invest in performance parts and suspension and all that. The race is in Tennessee, maybe not perfectly central in the country but fairly centrally located for a large portion of the country. Do entry fees cost money, yes of course they do but you gotta pay flaggers, paramedics to be on stand by 24/7 for a week, security, officials, maintenance workers for the machinery, and the list goes on. The area and regional qualifiers are necessary to make it the even playing field he referred to and so that when you get to Loretta’s your guaranteed a practice and 3 motos no more qualifying necessary. So please explain how the combs family specifically is suppose to make it cheaper for you?

Loretta’s is great! However there is a problem with the races leading up to it and it should be addressed. 1. Local tracks hosting an area qualifier should not be hosting local district racing and dropping gates with guys trying to qualify. Keep it separate. 2. Regional should only be accepting 42 riders. 70-80 per class bogging down the whole day with 2 divisions and 10 LCQS. 3. You’re only allowed to race and qualify in one region. Not running all over the country using it to race and take out riders in that region.

I agree with 1 and 3 as well. I think #2 would eliminate itself if 1 and 3 were made a rule. But yeah there are people who just hop in a motorhome and go to every single region until they finally qualify in one, which I find to be in fairly poor taste. Gotta keep some dignity in this life, and that seems to lack a bit of dignity in my opinion.

Sad that a lot of younger ewer fans don’t know what people who are passionate about this sport look like. Its been built by people likely Davey and of the privateers and former MX’ers who paid to race hard. Rich history this sport offers

How are you saying the track is new every year? I have been going there for years and is 95% the same every year. Now it really does need switched up every year because there are so many people that have the resources that just train on replica tracks every year because it hasn’t changed. Therefore, for those that don’t it really isn’t an equal playing field as stated. It's also truly not the 42 best riders because the road to get there is so incredibly expensive that many don't go because of the resource constraints. When I say expensive I'm talking 10,000 just for the week from the West coast/ The cost associated with getting there and while there is absolutely insane. They don't even support individual ticket sales. I go multiple days to watch every year and pay $50 a day because the only price they offer is by the car.

That track is torn down and removed within a few weeks of everyone leaving after Loretta's ends. If you go to Loretta's property any month other than August, which I have multiple times there is no track there. Which means the track has to be built in July every year to be ready for the first week of August, that is TECHNICALLY a new track every year. If it wasn't a new track then their wouldn't be a track to REBUILD. You and a few others have a very petty argument. If you think you personally can make a more affordable amateur national with over 50 years of history, then why don't you show us all how it's done? As far as you saying the track doesn't change, your missing the entire point. That's what makes Loretta's special is things you can identify with such as the "10 commandments" its part of the experience, just as much as the creek is, just as much as it being on Loretta's property is, if that race was ever moved off of Loretta's property it would no longer be "Loretta Lynns Amateur National".... When I hear a lot of you complain it just shows you miss the entire point of it all, that week at that Ranch is life changing I have been 3 times the first time in 2004 and I am 34 years old now and still think about that week frequently all these years later, it was amazing one of the coolest experiences. Whatever the number is $10,000, $15,000 it doesn't matter you cant put a price tag on memories that have stood this strong over the past 20 years in my mind. Id gladly pay that price again to wake up and see all those RV's, generators running, families depending on each other and supporting each other to have a good moto that day and try to achieve a goal and a dream together, all the kids and families in the creek, all the factory rigs, the smell of race fuel, the sounds and people, the golf carts and pit bikes everywhere, the green trees, and nothing but motorcycles for a week. You cant put a price tag on that, learn to appreciate the small things in life, money comes and goes you will always make more I promise you.

@@Nick-xw3dk LOL no it's not. I've been there numerous times after the races through the year. Sure, it's not maintained but it sits as the same general track and when it is reconstructed it's the same track. The only time this really didn't happen is when the flood hit and washed most of it away. Even after that it was built back to 95% of the original track. Moron, I'm not talking about refreshing the same track as being a new track LOL. The race is in July this year by the way. Sure, you would pay the price again but the price doesn't get the best riders there. Sure the creek is part of the experience LOL I'm talking about the track. Davey said it was an equal playing field and that is 100% not true now days with the the fortunate riding replica tracks. I'm not talking about sentimental memories, what makes things special or anything else.

Many people raced Loretta's for years and just didn't win. Mike Alessi is tied for most Loretta's championships in history, more than Carmichael and many others. On paper he should of went on to be one of the greatest pro riders to ever live, instead he never won a championship in the 450 class. Dungey did poorly there overall and look at the pro career he had. People often miss the point of Loretta's, success doesn't often correlate to professional success, same thing for Jason Lawrence he often dominated there. Getting noticed there I would say is exactly what it's for, just do a good job and you will get noticed, that doesn't mean you even have to win. But more importantly people should go there with the intention of having a great week with their family and friends, its a special place.

@@FallenTimber I agree with you, everything on earth doesn't have to evolve for it to be enjoyed or to "grow". In helmet communication and all that other nonsense go completely out the window once JS and Ricky are battling the way they did in 2006 or 2007. That is truly what people want to see, the issue with the "evolving the sport" talk is where does it stop. You give them an inch and they take a mile. First its in helmet communication, next thing its well "we think" (suit and tie wearing fellas) the motorcycles need to levitate over the ground and not actually ride on the track. It never ends when you start going down this road. All we hear all the time is 450's are so developed now that they're actually too fast. So we are already evolving past the point of what's even needed to where they're trying to dial the bikes back. I think production does need to be more clear, better shots, maybe a netflix type behind the scenes type thing, and a more desirable network other than peacock which a lot of people dont even know exist.
