Hey Rahul, I recently discovered your channel, and it's awesome! Anyway you could possibly do an Objet Petit A video which would make it intelligible to the lay man?

Thank you very much for the kind comment, my friend. I certainly would love to do such a thing, but I don't think I'm an expert on the matter yet. Having said that, I'm hoping to speak to Todd McGowan on the object a in detail, so expect a podcast on it soon. McGowan's Capitalism and Desire is also an excellent book on the matter. I've also written elementary on the concept here: theunhappyman.substack.com/p/the-metaphysical-case-for-love

@@RahulSam A joke, but also somewhat serious. You see, I am a widower. And a couple years after my wife died (at age 27; I was 29) I realized that even if we had both lived together for another 60 years, that eventually one of us would have to die first. So, with exception for couples who die at the exact same moment (automobile crashes, etc.), all “successful”relationships must inevitably end with one person either as Widow or Widower. And it’s probably worse when one is older, since elderly people generally have less close relationships to fall back onto, such as parents. That’s what I did. So the joke is that there’s necessarily a kind of calculation involved that one should consider before “choosing” to fall in love. Of course, even if this were possible- and I don’t believe that it is- practically nobody lives their life this way, for the reasons that are correctly described in your video.
