@@LittlestCrow17 probably a time thing. I'm just going off of theory because I'm not old enough to know, but I'd assume that 'back then' while people may of touched other people's cars they were more careful and the car owners were a lot more optimistic about it. But now with all the chaos of little kids and lunatics that don't understand common sense, car owners are afraid of these people damaging their cars or otherwise. I'm not really sure how to explain it exactly, but I think you get the idea.

The very first car show I went to was in LA and it wasn’t a pleasant time cause I came with my stock 2018 camaro ss, I came in a little late cause of traffic, I was trying to find a parking spot but all of the lots in the vicinity were all full, so I went back to the entrance and park right at the side of it for just a couple minutes cause I was on my phone trying to look for parking. As I continued to try and look for a place to park one of the host came up to me and ask what I was doing parking next to the entrance and I simply said “I was trying to look for parking on my phone cause all the lots close to here were full” and this host was the best host I coulda asked for he said that I had a nice looking car and asked me if I could be part of the event and park my car in the show lot and I was so ecstatic I immediately said “YES!!!”. He let me in and directed me to an open parking space, I parked and the host said have a great time and left me,now I didn’t intend to participate in this event cause one my camaro was all stock so I didn’t think it was worthy enough to be part of the show and two is cause I was there to look at other cars and ask the owners of these cars what parts they put into them so I can have a pretty good idea of what to install into my car, so with that said I had an idea of just standing there for like an hour and then proceed to walk around and look at other cars. During this hour I had the most douchiest guys come up to me and tell me that my car does not belong here and said it was “ugly” and “a pathetic excuse of a car” and those comments went on and on and on. I as a kind and honest individual I didn’t think much of it but as I kept thinking about it I had lost some of my excitement and enthusiasm cause of those comments, so I just walked around took couple pictures and left I didn’t even asked the owners anything cause of those dirt bags I was really looking forward into getting information on the parts they had but that didn’t happen I felt kinda crummy because of that. After that whole ordeal I was driving around and finding a place to gas my car for the drive home but luckily some of the people who attended the show left the event early, there were 4 of them and the cars that they had was an NSX, r35, a Dodge Challenger hellcat, and a GT mustang, they saw me putting gas in my 2018 camaro ss and walked up to me and said “were you at the event” and I said “yes” they then said “yeah I saw you standing next to your car for a little bit and then left”, I proceeded to tell them why. After I had told them they said the most spirit lifting words I have ever heard they said “don’t worry about what those guys think if you bought this car then you must love this car, doesn’t matter if it’s stock you bought cause you wanted it, take pride in it and don’t let anybody take that pride away from you” that really lifted my spirits and the really shocking thing was that they knew that my car was all stock, I mean they are car enthusiasts so I guess it makes sense that they could tell that it was all stock. After chatting with them for a little bit I asked them if I could take a look at their cars and they happily said “yes you may”. I looked at their cars and asked what kind of parts they put into them, they told me and then offered me they’re help to mod my car and I said “that would be great” we exchanged contact info and parted ways, those guys were the friendliest guys I have ever met 2 of them actually visited me and helped me out on installing the parts I bought for my car and ever since we became good friends, so I guess it wasn’t so bad I got something good out of it. So the moral here is if you want to go to a car show and show off you’re car don’t let other people discourage you just cause of how you’re car looks or what you put into you’re car take pride in it and show it off you spent you’re time and money into you’re car don’t let that go to waste just have fun and talk to other car enthusiasts I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

6:06 Yeah... I saw a (probably $20-25k) hand brushed paint job get RUUUIINED by a dog once. Dog got excited when he dropped the airbags and jumped up on the car, old low rider style Lincoln with airbrush murals on the hood and all the works. Owner was surprisingly cool about it he was initially pretty upset but he was understanding the owner literally had no idea the dog was about to freak out because of the air ride noise or whatever made the dog flip. All in all I think they exchanged info and there was some kind of payment but that guy stopped showing up to our shows shortly after, I never see the car around town so I think he may have moved.

Some years ago I went to a drive-in meet at a Bonnie Doon and some guy with a stock orange-on-orange (yes, it was an eyesore) Mustang with the hood up. Sign in the bay stated "This pony kicks, do not touch". There was a supercharged V10 chopped rat rod next to it that probably kicked even harder.

Ok junior? #2 if I’m outside I’m going to smoke. You brought your car outside to a public place. Deal with it. #3 if I show up early and feel like leaving early I will. I usually spend a few hours at them but I’m not going to stay in the Texas heat all day if I’m ready to leave just because the folks who got there late might not like that they got a bad parking spot.

What they should do if someone leaves a show early is invite nice cars from the parking lot into the show to take their place. You can take a photo of their car and have it on a large screen with an announcement or something. I often see very humble and amazing daily drivers in the lot that you can tell the owners take a lot of pride in. I usually always do at least a cruise around the parking lot or take the long way to the exit just to check it out.

Complete Buzz Kill. Munchkin tantrums at the car show. Think people. They can't hang very long walking around in the sun. Hot, Hungry, and Disinterested. That's what Grandmas are for. You'll owe her in the end but it's worth it.

In my opinion, one of the biggest things is to respect the venue. Especially something like Cars & Coffee, try to avoid throwing your trash on the ground, and avoid burning out or instigating parking lot rev battles.

I’d say leaving early depends on the size of the show & the hours. I usually see everything I want in 2-3hrs at a longer show. In CA a lot of our events have plenty of sanctioned parking so people leaving early or coming late isn’t really an issue.
