What makes the 33 Grand Crus of Burgundy Unique? | Best Bourgogne Wines Explained

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is part 5 of a 6-part video series where we look at everything you need to know about the wines from Burgundy. We have come quite a long way already in this series, and by now if you’ve followed along, you should start to have a good understanding of its various facets. But today I wanted to highlight the best of the very best wines in Burgundy, and focus on the 33 Grand Cru vineyards so you have a better understand of what they are, their names, and why they are at the top of the food-chain. So, let’s start with why these Grand Crus ‘matter’ more than the other. Let’s go…
Why Grand Cru Matters (so much) in Burgundy? - Chapter 1
What makes Grand Cru wines so unique? Chapter 2
What do Grand Crus taste like? Which are the 33 grand Crus of Burgundy - Chapter 3
List of the 33 Grand Cru Vineyards of Burgundy:
In Gevrey-Chambertin, you will find: Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Charmes-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin, Le Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, and Ruchottes-Chambertin. In Morey-St.Denis : Clos de la Roche, Clos de Tart, Clos des Lambrays, and Clos Saint Denis. In Chambolle-Musigny : Bonnes Mares and Le Musigny, in Vougeot well the Clos de Vougeot, in Flagey-Echézeaux is Echézeaux and Grands Echézeaux. Vosne-Romanée hosts La Grande Rue, La Romanée, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Conti and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. Now to the Côte de Beaune with Corton-Charlemagne and Le Corton which are on the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses, Ladoix-Serrigny and Aloxe-Corton. In Puligny-Montrachet are Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Le Montrachet while in Chassagne-Montrachet are Bâtard-Montrachet and Le Montrachet as well, but also Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet. Finally and that’s the 33d Grand Cru: Chablis Grand cru which counts as one grand cru with 7 different climats: Blanchot, Bougros, Les Clos, Grenouilles, Preuses, Valmur, and Vaudésir.
And I know all of this list by heart of course… Now, how many of those have YOU tasted personally? Let me know in the comments. I’m curious.
And I’ll leave it here for today. If you want to catch up on previous episodes of the Burgundy Fine & rare wine series, I’ll link to them at the end of the video or feel free to browse around the channel. With the next and last episode of the Burgundy series, coming up soon, we’ll look into some of the most iconic producers like Romanee-Conti and Leroy, so make sure to subscribe if you’re not already. And that’s it for me today. I will see you soon in the wonderful world of wine. Cheers.

Congratulations! Thanks for the precious informations, but I wish you could speak slower, or put subtitles because your English is very good, but some words is full of accent and it's a little difficult to catch. But thanks for the wonderful videos! 👍 😉 🥂

brewer-clifton, calera, pahlmeyer, clos jordanne bindi, tawse, meerlust, schubert, neudorf, giaconda to name just a few new world pinot noirs are 4,6% inferior but cost 9 times less; are ready in 3 years and often boast screwcaps. of course i love la tache or richbourgs, + 20 other big boys but for zillions of $ charged they are big raw deal unless you happen to be a snob or speculator cheers
