What an intense, emotional tribute to his parents: his father who passed away too soon and his mother who sacrificed to raise him. He hardly moved during the song but his stage presence was so compelling regardless. Less was more. Thank you for the reaction.

From the start of this song, the piano and even the simple singing style is actually very reminiscent of the Korean folk songs my dad loved, he played me guitar and sang just like this. So this performance ensnared my heart. Another thing is the words he chose to tenderly elongate or say softly or shout, and the choice of words and timing of respectful language vs informal "home" language, it all strikes so close to the heart. When he cried "uri umma! (mom!)" I cried so hard, you can hear every child's voice coming from grown man. His storytelling and sincerity is immaculate and moving. It is extremely interesting to hear your specialist analysis of every other part of this performance, that I could never have known. It made me appreciate this singer even more. Many vocal analysis reviews do not come close to touching on the depth of your discuss. Thank you very much for your video.

Since the day i've heard this song the first time in 2014 it may be my favourite song of all time. It's a life story, a lesson, something very intimate he's telling us and shares with us in a raw and (to me) perfect way. Sad, heartbreaking but also a reminder to try to be a good person and be nice to others as long as we're here and we can. Like the mother of one of the show's participants said: This song should NOT be judged. His performances of "Saldaga" which was very dark and "My love by my side" are similar. Master pieces of life and sadly ... death ... to me.

I have so much respect for Kim Jinho. The fact he very rarely makes appearances but when he does it's so worth it. He wrote this himself. Plus I believe this was his first time to release it. So to have the whole room be moved like that is absolutely amazing.

The song actually is released in 2013, February 14th, it's one of tracks of his 1st solo album, but since he didn't really promote it and the song itself it's not the title track, it was not that popular until he performed this song on Immortal Song (2014, May 24th) , the song immediately becomes huge hit until now, he even released the 2020 version of the song, the arrangement is quite similar with the one he did for Immortal Song (the 2013 ver/original ver sounds more simple) And indeed, due to his own preference, he rarely appeared on TV broadcasts, but once he did, he never failed to move people even set an ocean of tears, he's one of the greatest singer I've ever seen!

@@SweetSori I might be mistaken, but was this Jin-ho's first live performance (except for some private mini concerts) after SG Wannabe band member Chae Dong Ha's passing in 2011 ? From what I remember he took a break from public appearance, and this 2014 was also his solo comeback ?

@@GungFuIsGungFu hello... No, this is not his first TV performance after that tragic event... Actually in late 2011 SG Wannabe still appeared on a year end event or an award ceremony if I'm not mistaken, eventhough we can see Kim Jin Ho looked do gloomy by looking at his face, then finally debuted as solo singer in 2013 by releasing his first solo album, and it made him appeared several times on TV for the album promotion... But still, we can say his TV appearance isn't counted as significant, since he preferred more to sing at some busking events... The performance in this video is his second appearance for the show, the first one was aired in October 2013, it was such a huge appearance too, he became a winner and his name appeared on some trending topics, news articles and he made some SG Wannabe re-entered the music chart

Beautiful singing and beautiful analysis thereof. I don't understand the words, but I sure as hell understand the feelings. I've had them before. And still have the same sadness and regret, and sometimes the brief joy of remembrance, happy moments. I was not before aware of this particular Jinho, but i surely am now and will search for more of him.

Hi~ i frequently left comments about this song on some videos ^^ By the way, i just want to say that this song is actually released in February, 2013, as one of tracks of Kim Jin Ho's first solo album. Family Picture is not the title track of that album, so the song wasn't really known by public at that time, but eventhough it's not the title track, he sang that song a lot more than other songs on some events. Then in May, 2014, he got chance to sing his own song on Immortal Song, and surprisingly the public's response was really amazing, and that's how the song become legendary song until now ^^

If you haven't seen it aready I highly recommend his performance of Saldaga, also on Immortal Songs. It's tremendously emotional as he sings with a recording of his friend and former SG Wannabe member Chae Dong Ha who sadly commited suicide. Not a dry eye in the house.

This song should not be analyzed. It sounds strange, but the pitch, the voice, the vibrato, it doesn't matter at all in this song. You have to savor and feel the lyrics. However, English only expresses Korean about 10%.

why can.t you people appreciate his body workout as well? not just sitting there eating burgers and analyzing his voice haha

Hahahah... Yes he has a really good shape He likes sport since childhood and works out a lot, he said he actually wanted to be an athlete, but because he got leg injury during school, he couldn't make it

Dissecting this song don't make it feel right. You go from the mind as soon as you talk about it but when the song plays it goes right back to the heart. Then you start dissecting with words....this is wierd. This song is about getting into the song and the meaning of feelings coming out of this performance.
