There's a reason why Yuzu is so universally beloved by both his peers, the figure skating world and the wider world every 4 years. He's got a strong work ethic, a deep respect for his craft, his competitors and those around him, and yet is so humble about his own standing. Always pushing toward some goal off in the distance. He wants the entire sport to be elevated and he does so much to promote it. He's not only the complete package in terms of skill and artistry, but a once in a lifetime individual talent that one can't help but be compelled by. Yuzuru Hanyu is and will always be the king of the ice.

He's loved in the wider world everyday not just every four years. But he does gather new fans during the Olympics who become his Fanyus for life. I have welcomed more new fans than I can count and set them on the path of discovery of the magic that is Yuzuru Hanyu. His global popularity is mind blowing and unprecedented and I have no doubt that even when he's not competing he will still have his legions of Fanyu and media following every move he makes. We're hoping for many, many years of Yuzu performances.

@@moonshadow--1207 Yes I've been a Fanyu for many years and seeing him perform always gives me so much joy. When I said 'every four years' I meant that most people only become invested in skating during the Olympics and that's when he receives the most mainstream coverage. But yes even in the time between Olympic Games he's still by far one of the most popular skaters around and has hoards of fans around the world. I'm just happy to see him out on the ice doing what he loves and I also hope we have many more years of him on the ice! To see him perform in person one day would be a dream come true

@@LauraBundin Did the Gala Finale seem a bit ununified to you. I don't know how to put it. It didn't look like many people were enjoying themselves or maybe it was just me. There didn't seem to be the usual comradery. Maybe it's because this time Yuzu wasn't the host of the party.

ojalá fuera verdad que han roto sus récords, lo único que hicieron fue quitar las barreras para que un japonés que no se rindió lo tuviese los RG que por su arduo trabajo consiguió. Para mí después de tantos robos descarados no existe nada atractivo ni legal en el FS dirigido por las Federaciones y la isu corruptas.

I love it that he is always motivated to go one step higher than what he has achieved yesterday. He is an inspiration to the world.

Honestly he'll always be remembered as greatest of all time...I rem when I first saw him in 2018 winter olympics I'll never be able to describe that feeling and I just knew that I had to continue looking at him skate...he's just different and on another level Thank you Yuzuru Hanyu for going so far and pushing yourself beyond boundaries

I watched Sochi for Kim Yuna (still fking pissed that she went Silver. She should've won the Gold). I used to just watch the men's for a while and never really stayed until the very end. i decided to watch Sochi 2014 Men's Figureskating for the heck of it and I would've regretted my decision if I didn't. He gave me an unexplainable emotions no skater had ever made me feel, since then until now, FANYU FOR LIFE.

I'm crying 😭 Yuzuru is the legend, Prince of ice, the best 💙

Yuzu made me love figure skating even I'm from a tropical country. I am not a very athletic person, but yuzu inspired me to try sports. I love his influence on me.

We called him "The Greatest of all Time" for a reason.

I’ve never been into figure skating at all but 2 years ago I saw a performance by yuzuru and I’ve been hooked ever since. I just couldn’t take my eyes off the screen because his performance was beyond beautiful. I’ve watched every performance of him so far which can be found on the internet and I was never once disappointed. I would have goosebumps all over my body, yuzus ability to move people just by his performance is a true gift and talent. My heart really broke when he cried and said that he thought he put enough effort and training for this years olympics but his results didn’t satisfy him. He may not won a medal this year but the fact that Yuzuru Hanyu is the prince of ice and a true icon will never change. I hope he can feel how proud the whole world is of him.

I never talk about it but his dance and work ethic were one of the major things to help me out of a 7 years long depression 💖👑 Not sure what it is but something about him touches my soul deeply ⭐⭐⭐

i love how he just keeps pushing himself to achieve his goals. he does not give up easily and that’s one of the many things that is so admirable about him. he’s so humble and amazing and loves figure skating so much and he shows it in every single skate he does. the way he takes care of everybody such as the younger Japanese figure skaters (such as Uno Shoma) and is friends with so many other figure skaters such as Jin Boyang from China shows just how many people admire him and how humble he is. he is full of passion, drive, respect, gracefulness and beauty in every skate he does and you just can’t help but be mesmerised by him. YUZURU HANYU, the icon and the goat, the ice prince. the ice KING. nobody can take that title away from him. he is, and he will always be the prince, the KING of ice. he is absolutely amazing. Yuzuru Hanyu, you are, and forever will be the icon of figure skating. ⛸💙

This Olympics I really got the feeling that he wasn't there to even try and win gold, because he's already proven well enough that he could do that. He was there to perform and to advance the sport by debuting a 4A in the Olympics. It was really cool and showed how it doesn't always need to be about winning for winning's sake.

He shows his passion in figure skating with his graceful and elegant moves like he was telling a story and communicating to his audiences. He's really the G.O.A.T

He is an icon. We will always love you Yuruzu :)

He really loves what he does and it shows in his performance

It's too bad he struggled in Beijing, but at the same time it made me respect him more. Push those boundaries! Athletes who push themselves to raise the bar in their fields are what keep sports alive and evolving. One day he'll land it, and the next generation of skaters will have a new challenge to aspire to. He's elegant. He's innovative. He's humble. He's a great example both on and off the ice.

Me, too. Only for him. But wasn't his interaction with Boyang at the Gala adorable. I guess Shoma and Yuma feel like they're above Yuzu now and don't need to show him any respect.

Yuzu is one of the biggest reasons I have started figure skating again despite feeling like it's too late for me. I'm 22, stopped at 11, life hasn't been easy on me hence why I quit, but when my blades touch the ice I feel like I'm finally somebody again. Yuzuru Hanyu is, and will always be, one of if not the best men's figure skaters of my lifetime. and I can't believe I got to see him make it to Beijing. 4A is just his history waiting to be made. no doubts at all in him. he loves a sport that can drain the love out of you but I see the passion in his eyes still. I love you Hanyu! 🤍⛸️

For me, it’s not necessarily just about his skills. Watching him skate, you can really see and feel his love and passion for the sport, which is why I think so many people are drawn to him.

True I can't pass on without seeing his performance. And whenever I do, I feel this energy to do better and better everytime.

At the end, when Meryl said that Yuzuru isn't satisfied, I disagree with that statement. Yuzuru Hanyu is by far the greatest figure skater of all time. He is satisfied, he just hasn't met his goals yet: Yuzuru Hanyu wishes to become the first ever person to successfully land a quadruple axel, and when the time comes, he will land that quad axel. I know that, because look at how far Yuzuru has come: he has won two Olympic gold medals back to back, a four-time Grand Prix world champion, and a six-time Japanese national champion. Nobody will ever be able to compare to Yuzuru's achievements, because Yuzuru Hanyu is Yuzuru Hanyu; and that, is what makes him the greatest of all time.

I feel that once he retires, the sport is going to lose its fame.
