    Hey Ben, thanks for another great tutorial on making kiting safer and more fun. I love your explanations and footage. One thing I would like to add from a video by Steven Akkersdijk about vertical take-offs is to not send the kite too fast as it otherwise remains in front of you and will lead to jumps with a horizontal component. I have seen this many times when people try transitioning. Just a food for thought and I know, there is a combination of many techniques required for a perfect lift-off (edging, sending the kite, popping and pulling the bar in, all at the right timing). For me, sending the kite not too fast really helped me tremendously getting the other things lined up much better and launching more vertically. Cheers for your videos once more and all the best to you!

    Very helpful ! Thank you for these tips Ben ! 👌 I managed to send my first real kiteloops (last video on my channel) thanks in particular to your advices in your kiteloops tutos ! The later is the safer is a very good advice, it also allows you to check that you are well balanced before sending the kiteloop because sometimes, if you want to send a kiteloop too much, you can make the mistake to sending it while the edge and the beginning of the jump is not perfect, pulling the loop later can correct this problem. 🤙

    Nice video. I don‘t agree with „the later the safer“, you should definitely feel power vertical. If you miss the point of peek and you try a power loop while you are falling down, say goodby. Personally i think you have to feel enough power in the lines and the whole system bevor initiate the loop, to avoid slack in the lines, also realising the bar after the loop helps a lot, so looping a bit earlier than to too late works better for me (Kite is 9 Enduro with25m lines), because you got more pressure left. Another thing that helped me a lot is the positioning of the kite bevor initiate the loop, let me explain that, when your kite is directly above your head and you initiate the loop, the kite won‘t get that deep into power zone and catches you mutch more early. Whereas the kite will go deeper into the power zone and needs more time to catch you again, when you initiate the loop while the kite sits deeper in the power zone. … hope that makes sense.

    So good you explained the difference between flat and waves. 9 weeks ago I broke 7 bones in my foot (Lisfranc fracture) with a kiteloop from a wave in 20knts. With a good wave and enouch speed, you can screw up your edge/takeoff and still get decent hight. It went well 2 times, 3th time I screwt up my takeoff and it did not catch al all and I was stupid to land it on my board. Now im hoping that they dont have to lock the bones in my foot. I also think that the more wind, the saver you are. Kiteloops are super addictive, you have to be strikt to yourself to not loop in lower wind. Btw, I did not think the landing would be that hard, so in doubt, just crash it, dont try to land.

    Usually I would agree with "later the safer", but there is an exception to this rule. If you are under 20 feet (4-7 meter range), the later you loop the kite it will not have time to come around and catch you. You will land very hard and the kite will not even partially catch you, if you are looping in this lower range I think it is better to loop it early so you know the feeling of the power of the kite, and also you may have a chance of the kite coming back to 12 and catching you. Also I am not sure if you mentioned it, but a HUGE tip in my progression was to sheet out. Once you learn to sheet out when your kite comes back to 12, it will open up the kite and allow it more wind to catch you. I was eating shit time and time again, because I was afraid of not looping the kite all the way around I kept the bar sheeted in even after I had finished the loop and consequently the kite never caught me. Great video as always Ben, my back mobes are improving, will send you a clip of one soon.

    Nice video Ben, i see you sheeting out after the loop. Is this necessary after the loop to get the kite above you? Or only with smaller kites. My biggest fear is going in a rotation when pulling the loop. Any tips to avoid that? I’m comfortable with downloop landings on both sides, and jumping 10m+ regularly, so kiteloops have to happen now 😅

    Hey, thank you. If you depower the bar the kite will recover faster. I recommend you to start with very late kiteloop. Always make sure to power the bar completely and pull in one side as much as possible. Than do the loops a little earlier every time… 😊🙌

  • @BenBeholzVlogs

    @BenBeholzVlogs

    2 жыл бұрын

    About the ''butter landings'' it's good to know, they are easier to get on a 9m or a 10m. While the recovery of the kite itself works better on a 7m or a 8m. If a bigger kite recovers it will lift more during the landing...

    Can you confirm that you mean a vertical take is better than a take off that goes downwind toward the kite? If that is what you meant can you explain how a takeoff with a lot of forward movement (across the wind, not down wind) effects the kiteloop compared to a take off that does not have forward movement but is more like a transition jump (straight up only with no forward direction of travel)?

    @@BenBeholzVlogs There is one more thing that is difficult for me to understand. If I pull the bar fully the kite will tend to go into the power zone. But we know that the power zone is where the kite has the most power. So wouldn't it be better to just pull the bar halfway so the kite will stay more overhead? and so it will do more as a propeller to make me land softly and I will not be dragged forward .... In other words, wouldn't it be better, safer, to tilt (bend) the bar all to one side but pull it only halfway? Thank you

    I'd also add the info about kite sizes. As I noticed, the smaller kite the faster it recovers resulting in a safer kiteloop. I would not try to do a kiteloop in the air with a kite bigger than 10m unless it's some sort of a kite that's super fast.
