    Eh I think not really... We always think "more bokeh = more cinematic" but when you look at most movies and series usually the background is not as blurry as we want it to be. Take a look at the miniseries on youtube from a channel called "Paralight WorX", it looks really cinematic and they record everything using a gh5 and olympus 25mm f1.2. If the background was much blurry it probably wouldn't look so cinematic

    I can see how the 85mm could be really useful for a dream sequence. Could convey that they are running but not moving, like how we feel while running away from a Finnish serial killer....

    Hey Matti - thanks for putting this together. Love the 85 mm results with the gimbal. Due to the compression - I notice that the world becomes a much larger element in the story (relative to the subject). Contrast with the 24 mm, where the subject towers over the background. Thanks!

    Matti i always use this 2 focal-length for make movies so i can show both angles in motion with same direction so viewers also can understand things which u teach in previous video if u go left so 2nd shot of motion is also wamted to be left so u can use this 2 lense on gimble for same movement same distance so u can show to world details and main subject woth background in same motion ...thanx man❤❤❤❤

  • @finnillson4808
    @finnillson48085 жыл бұрын

    My take is always mix them up but wide is almost always better for leading shots. However the 85mm follow shot can be used in very dramatic ways when the background element (the scene the subject is looking at) is important in some way or you want it to have an emotional connection with the subject. This is in part because the longer focal lengths bring the background and foreground elements closer together in the shot.

    I usually use wider lenses like 24mm or 16mm when my subject is not much close to my camera cause I don't like the wide lens distortion on a subject face and also it depends on how much movement I want, but usually, I prefer 70mm or 85mm for portraits and also when i want to make background or foreground really out of focus, thanks man for your great content
