@@robertjensen1048 I see what you all are stating, but you know, civilians are civilians. No matter how bad things get during a war, thats always the case during any war dont ever forget that, and while it's true that wwII certainly stands out in those regards as one of the most cruel and crazy destructive wars of human history and XX century, civilians are always the last to know and the first to go. In the sense they just die without a sense or a cause or intrinsic fault, whereas soldiers at least are exerting a purpose, despite senseless and inhumane as it may be 🤷‍♂️ dont fucking joke on these things guys. As we're witnessing right now, these facts stand true in every situation, i dont think there could be any denying in that. Not to forget that we're just so worried and hit by this european war cause of course it happens to be you know kind of close to our lives (im european so), but dont be hypocrite in general, and dont forget, as i was saying, that before this russian ukrainian thing other wars in the middle east we all know about are just the same shit. Only difference is our european american asses didnt even flinch about that cause you know who cares, those country are of little regards at least as it may be of our every day life concern. But again the same old thing each time no matter the place: civilians dead, civilians losing everything, civilians migrating, and spreadwide misery and destabilisation. I'm sure the same guys on that ship were just making it up when they said the presser wave from the blast was enough to knock them back ten feet across the deck and rock the ship to one side. The Castle Bravo test wasn't your average firecracker, The fireball was a few thousand degrees in temp, nearly two miles across, and completely deleted the island where the bomb was detonated. The force of the blast was fifteen times that of Hiroshima (which leveled 90% of the city, and flash vaporized anyone within the first mile of the blast zone, and was with the point of detonation being a thousand feet up) For roughly thirty seconds The Castle Bravo explosion was three times hotter, and at least ten times brighter than the Sun. Modern testing of hydrogen bombs were done from hundreds of miles away from anyone that is to witness them, and even then they are protected by several feet of concrete with windows made of bullet proof glass nearly a foot thick.

Frankly, he probably wouldn't have invaded had Trump been re-elected(most of us booted him out vis a vis his countless anti-science and anti-secular humanist stances on the issues), but only because Trump was Putin's cat's paw as a method of soft power in order to sow division among NATO member states. Meanwhile in reality--where Putin invaded Ukraine to strongarm NATO into an ultimatum--Zelenskyy sure knows how to hide his way around a firefight. Probably teleconferencing from Lviv so its easier for him when the country inevitably gets torn to pieces. Unless NATO decides to push from Romania up and through Moldova, and to force their way into Transnistria to end their rigged, Stalin-esque, and pro-Kremlin demographics... Putin has nothing to worry about. Balkanization of Ukraine by the 2030s if all goes as well. Oh, and on the sanctions. The Russians don't want our worthless money. You can't just go and print practically all of a single currency at one time. Not good. This likely influenced their decision tree in the post-Covid era, which might explain for the hastened attacks and poor military command... and also why there were mumblings of an invasion/coup d'état in late-2021... it is practically a spur of the moment idea--never mind the 'territorial conflict' since 2014, that is just a typical local unrest seen all around the world (Myanmar, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, etc.) This isn't normal, but it isn't really our fault. Whom Can We Trust If No One Is Trustworthy? One of my favorite quips from Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is when Tom is defined as “a glittering hero…the pet of the old, the envy of the young,” and there were “some that believed that he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging.” With these few words, Twain captured the essence of leadership in our world. Those who get to the top are the fiercest, most determined, and most ruthless. Today, the latter quality has become so intense that we can no longer believe our leaders, and certainly not trust them to have our best interest in mind. I am not accusing any leader in particular, or even leaders as a whole. It is simply that in an egoistic world, where people vie to topple one another on their way to the top, the one at the top is clearly the one who trampled over and knocked down more people than anyone else. Concisely, to get to the top in an egoistic world you have to be the biggest egoist. So how do we know whom to trust? We don’t know and we cannot know. All we know is that we are in the dark. In a culture of unhinged selfishness, any conspiracy theory seems reasonable, while truth is nowhere to be found. When every person who says or writes something is trying to promote some hidden agenda, you have no way of knowing who is right, what really happened, or if anything happened at all. The only way to get some clarity in the news and goodwill from our leaders is to say “Enough!” to our current system and build something entirely independent. The guiding principle of such a system should be “information only,” no commentary. Commentary means that information has already been skewed. Information means saying only what happened, as much as possible, not why, and not who is to blame and who we should praise. Concurrently, we must begin a comprehensive process of self-teaching. We have to know not only what is happening, but why we skew and distort everything. In other words, we have to know about human nature and how it inherently presents matters according to its own subjective view, which caters to one’s own interest. To “clear” ourselves from that deformity, we must learn how to rise above our personal interest and develop an equally favorable attitude toward others. This is our only guarantee that our interpretation of things will be even and correct. Once we achieve such an attitude, we will discover that the bad things we see in our world reflect our own, internal wickedness. Our ill-will toward others creates a world where ill-will governs, and so the world is filled with wickedness and cruelty. Therefore, all we need in order to create positive leadership-and to generally eliminate ill-will from the world-is to generate goodwill within us. When we nurture goodwill toward others, we will fill the world with goodwill. As a result, the world will fill with kindness and compassion. By changing ourselves, we will create a world that is opposite from the world we have created through our desires to govern, patronize, and often destroy other people.

That dude needs to get his arse into some kind of cover if possible and stay there for the next 48 hours. If you survive the blast, the real threat is the fallout.

If you had been that close? You would be in big trouble lol... Good clip though.

Would everything be incinerated prior to a shockwave approaching? Also, would there be a tidal wave or would so much water get vaporized that the void would pull water inward?

I would think so. A low yield nuke aka tactical nuke of 1kt (kiloton) is the equivalent of 1000 tons of tnt being simultaneously detonated. One megaton is the equivalent of 1 million tons of tnt so yes depending on the yield and your distance from ground zero you would be incinerated immediately.

@@g-m-b6672 But this was a multi-megaton detonation, probably something like five to maybe fifteen megatons. (More likely the low end of that range than the high end.) I've watched a lot of film footage of above ground nuclear tests and this would have been a very large one.

Assuming the physics are correct, based upon the interval between the flash and the arrival of the shockwave (roughly 11 seconds,) the observer was less than three miles from ground zero.
