NHS - 4 months for a doctor's appointment in the UK is not good. Personally I love South Africa. The freedom, the space, the food, the cost of living, the people, the energy, the service at the shops are genuinely friendly and kind - SA is so so much better. I say this as someone that left the UK. .The help, helpers- chefs, maids, gardeners, drivers, tailors, etc is all so reasonable and accessible. Yes you need private Healthcare (which is world leading! - not world class, it is also cost effective, relative to private healthcare in the UK and the service is way better), most people have inverters and generators. Once that's sorted, life down here is really fabulous! Best part of living in SA is that you dont have to deal with the two- faced nasty cut-throat british culture and horrible people, shit weather, red tape and crap food. The issues in SA are easily fixable within your control. The issues of the UK are out of your control. We have wine farms, dairy farms, farms of everykind, game reserves, invredible nature, stunning weather, amazing sense of space and freedom, and lovely people in abundance. That enough for me, to know i can raise a family here. If you are upper middle class in South Africa, the quality of life here cannot be compared to anything, anywhere in the world! Ps, enjoy your holidays in Aus and NZ, I've lived in Aus previously as well and still chose to come back to SA.

I wake up to sunshine every day and thank Jesus I'm back in South Africa, after being in England for two decades. I started working for the best realty company in the world and every day feels like a holiday. Many in Jo'burg are selling their houses and are either emigrating or going to the Cape (The Cape isn't a bad idea). I feel for those going to the UK. I'm selling an R8 million ($330 000) mansion with 32 rooms (730 sqm) and with that money they won't even be able to afford a two bedroom terraced house that is made out of ticky tacky and it all looks just the same. How can you compare the two different lifestyles!!! There's no comparison, going to monotonous cold weather with gray clouds that just hang day after day. Every morning I look outside my bedroom window and see the suns rays shimmering over the pool, I take a dip and think despite all the crap the ANC dish up, I'm in Africa and it's great to be back. Anyway maybe people need to do a stint in Europe before they appreciate what they have here.

I am living in Gordon's Bay Western Cape and can not remember we have last loadshedding. Checkers and Pick and Pay both have grocery delivery systems, doing it in a maximum of 60min. Takealot is also working to a 24-hour delivery services. Western Cape government has appointed more city police and they also bought drones to patrol the problem areas. Lots of changes comming for the Western Cape, more security and big improvements for public transport.

Got Lucky, retired young, We left a middle class life in Sussex 18 years ago and headed for the South African Winelands. Living the dream 30 mins out of Cape Town. The UK is rotting to the core, most of my family and friends have also gone and moved oversea's. The Government are weak, the police are corrupt and favour ethic minority's over their own. Imigration is out of control. You cant park anywhere in town. Knife crime is rampant, Healthcare is dreadful, if you can get it at all, The NHS is exhausted and GP's put you on a 4 week waiting list. The CHAV culture emerging from the second generation benefit's society has taken over. ( Council House and violent = CHAV ) Here in S.A. people live outdoor lives, they are polite, have manners and are respectful. We have 2 beautiful homes, motorbikes, a Land Rover Defender with a roof tent, a Raptor for expeditions across the Cape. For me, a musician and a photographer I cant relate to you. In my experience, the South African friends that go to the UK get there and realise what a terrible mistake they've made and always return with their tail's between their legs.

This is the bleak end of views. Myself and friends who emigrated to uk, usa, Canada, Australia have all done very well with no intention of returning. Africa is how you describe but your uk description is far from the reality for those who have made their way. We have a lovely home and big garden a short commute from London and have a high quality lifestyle, despite Europe going through a bit of a silly phase.

I'm from SA and have been living in the UK for 15 years now. I want to leave here almost every day and go back but can't because of personal reasons. The UK is an awful place to live, and for anyone thinking the grass is greener in the UK, it's really not in any way, take my word for it

I couldn`t agree more, I`ve been here since 2017 and absolutely hate it! The people are dumber than mud, the food is crap and way too expensive and you just can`t get anywhere because the cost of living and salaries are so far apart that they`ll never ever get close to each other again...crime is rising and rising and more and more Nigerians, Afghans, Turks and Chinese are appearing in all of the small towns and turning the place into the 3rd world... I am African born in bread in South Africa. Love this country to bits. Weather wise such an extraordinary place on the planet. The people are truly a rainbow nation. Crime and corruption is part and parcel, but their are most definitely men and women who are putting their lives on the line to make South Africa a land of trust and friendship. The grass is never greener on the other side no matter where you chose to go. I have a duaghter born in Scotland and Ancestral Visa seems the only way through, though Africa beats its drums in my inner spirit and heart too.

All my kids immigrated to Australia. I visit 3 months twice a year. Even though I enjoy my grandbabies i miss my south africa when i am there. I miss my friendly good looking people, our food, our weather, the beauty of our country😢

I miss SA terribly too, every second of every day and we constantly dream of going back. In the meantime...Portugal beckons.

As South Africans who entered Europe in 2000 this is painful to watch. We experienced amazing opportunities in Europe and beyond. 2 yrs UK, 7 yrs France another 3 yrs UK (my Afrikaans wife hates the population) and 12yrs Asia. Now to retire to Western Cape, financially secure. That fundamentally, is the key to security back in SA. External earnings. The people who cry about the drudgery of living in other countries always seem to gloss over this fundamental fact. If you are smart and hard working you will do well anywhere in the world. Saffers rule/.

I am British and my wife is French. We are international school teachers and i have some family in Johannesburg and we have South African friends/colleagues. After visiting them a few times, we decided to buy a beautiful retirement/holiday house in South Africa. We absolutely love South Africa and our aim is to retire there when we finish our teaching career.

I have a problem with this guy saying anybody that leaves that got a opportunity has been running away. That’s just not the case. I was given an opportunity and grabbed it to better my life in America. Been here 30 years and build up a hell of a nice farm after flipping hard situations and hard work. Still miss South Africa every day. Safety and crime is a very valid point to consider. 😂

Growing your own food is by far the best. Outdoor cooking sounds great. I would suggest most white people would run a mile. Which village are you in? SA being so vast ….. When I lived in South Africa and travelled around for work , I remember one time spending a week in Venda visiting my suppliers . It was so remote and so beautiful. I did not want to leave . That was a very long time ago . I have been in the UK now for 26 years ….. I’d be too afraid to come back and start again .

I lived in London for six years, many years back... The first two years was like "a magical mystical toor". The Art the music it was all good but i was dying inside. Been back in S.A 20ish years, a business owner earning Rands and a single mom. Things is not harder just much slower and slower means more time with my boy. African time is a real thing... The pace took a whole while to get use too and the stairing we all look each other in the eye, in our day to day passing. In London i did the eye looking out of habit thing and some chavs sitting on a wall, got rowdy asking " you looking at me like you know me" hahaha i know your mother. Nice channel... this was such a flashback, thank you. O yes, I was born and bred in Mpumalanga

Youll probably suffer from what if and when we symptoms for a decade .It's an immigrant thing. My Swedish mother suffered them in the Uk. Everything back home was more real better run etc. I later met a Scandinavian soc full of people with the same issues. When I emigrated to SA I met fellow Brits with exactly the same thing and me too. Had i done the right thing and whats best for the kids and could we should we were like earworms . But children helped ground us here. Best way forward is to get fully involved right where you are. The future is opaque everywhere . You just have to make the best of things. I really feel your pain but learn to wear the gum boots and love the rain in your face. And head north and west for wilder places

The comments under this video got me. I am a Jamaican who lives in Jamaica and is searching for somewhere to vacation for a month in the next 12 months. South Africa and Namibia are at the top of my list as I enjoy photography when am not working. YT algorithms pushed me this video and the comments are out of this world. The same minuses about SA exist for JAM, and to a large extent, the same pluses. Everyone who can afford to want to vacation in Jamaica but many are also afraid of the crime while the locals who are not highly skilled or with money leave to the US, UK if they can get a visa. Mankind will continue to be migratory and constantly in search of what they believe is best for themselves or family. In the meanwhile, there needs to be a space to enjoy some of what life has to offer if you can afford to or choose to afford to. I will one day visit SA to soak up the amazing culture, geography, and of course visit some of the rough places where visitors avoid. Keep the comments coming!

And Take a Lot and some shops have always had online shopping, I know because I've always preferred online shopping. The only thing that one might say is new is the same day or next day deliveries. Even though I remember getting same day delivery with Superbalist before it was popular.

Grew up in Queenstown but family farmed at Cathcart, Thomas River, Whittlesea etc. my dad went to st Andrew’s in GHT and my grandparents retired to Kenton on Sea. I’m glad that coastal road from PA to EL is fixed. It was ghastly for soooooo long. I’ve been in London for 28 years now- longer than I lived in SA.

Why are still complaining about living in beautiful sunny South Africa while staying or living in the UK? You can also buy groceries on line, no load for about two months now. I left SA in 1996 for London for 2 years and am still here. I could never move back to SA - I’ve gone back once a year, sometimes twice but now my parents have passed away , I feel like the ties are not as strong. Yes I miss the weather but there is more to life than weather. I like being able to park my Jeep on the street outside my home and not have a single burglar bar. The UK has been very good to me, I bought my own home in Greater London 22 years ago, love my allotment, garden, cats, neighbours , church and community spirit. As well as the lovely long summer days.

New subbie , we now have take a lot , pick n pay deliveries and 60 /60

I was in UK last month and felt so vulnerable and out of place. The majority of the people are cold and uncaring, especially in London. I can't speak for anyone else. I was so happy to be back home.🇿🇦

We can shop for food online, renew vehicle lisence online and buy stuff online and have it all delivered to our homes in SA. Obviously if you’re gonna live on a farm u wont have that luxury.

I personally would hate to live my life indoors, ordering everything online never getting out. I'm also under the impression that Europe has a major illegal immigration problem that's being caused by the political establishment. I'll take my chances in SA.

Please do a comparison for salaries vs cost of living. It is difficult to judge when people say they get paid more or the quality of life is better, but then they can't afford the same things I.e. house with a yard, having a nanny, going to a medical specialist on the same day you need them.

If both parents work, or if a one parent family, a nanny is nice to have, especially while children are young and pre-schoolers.

I rotate living in the UK and SA every six months. If you are one of the many South Africans thinking it is so terrible in SA and are thinking of moving (or just dreaming about it even), Dale here is telling you not even half the story. I can tell it to you from the other side. He is leaving out a mile long list of things that you as a South African will dislike (even despise) about the UK, things that wouldn't even occur to you since you probably take them for granted every day. Safety and security really is the one and only thing that is worse in SA. The government issue is complicated, since despite the infrastructure issues and service delivery problems in SA, what you instead have in the UK is an almost complete lack of freedom in return, comparatively speaking, due to overreach in legislation. NHS? Yes, it used to be good, many years ago. It is terrible now. You are far more likely to get the treatment you need in SA in a public healthcare facility, both in terms of quality and time. I know, you think this can't possibly be true, right? Dale spoke of 4 months for an appointment; he left out the part where you have to wait 9 -14 months for treatment after that. If you are lucky. Or when after your consultation, the doctor sends you a letter to tell you what ails you, eight MONTHS later. In some areas, you are unable to get an appointment at all, for some rather basic medical care like dentistry. About those sweet pounds you think you will be earning. I get the thing about delivery drivers and unskilled labour, but he is only partly right about that. There is no way on Earth someone earning minimum wage in the UK is able to afford housing and living costs unless they get government assistance (triply so in London). No way. It really is no different in that regard to South Africa. Yes, you earn a lot more money IF you convert it back to rand but it is a mistake to think this way, since in rand terms things in the UK also cost FAR more. You would be shocked if you found out how expensive basic grocery shopping is here. All things being equal, and accounting for all the normal sorts of things a person needs to live, it really is on a par whether you live in the UK earning pounds and paying in pounds or whether you live in SA earning rands and paying in rands. I could go on and on and on, but just trust me on this, it really isn't as greener over here as you would imagine it is and no matter how much you want to complain about things in SA, it is nowhere near as bad as you imagine it is. (PS. Living among British people will be a culture shock that you won't ever get over. Never met a South African that doesn't complain daily about how rude, unfriendly and standoffish Brits are).

Correct, am a Namibian living in uk now for nearly three years but everyday I contemplate about going back with my kids because I just realised how home is best, I’m scared of the idea of living here for many many years and working back to back with an excuse of allowing my kids to finish school because my kids a really young. I agree with the nhs service very stagnant I’m on a dermatologist waiting list for a year now, nothing here apart from feeling a bit safe to walk in the streets at night is different. Everytime I go for basic grocery shopping I spend 40£ or more which is a lot it may sound little to those in ZA, I’m also thinking it’ll take me ages to be able to save money enough to buy/build a house back home, and I don’t think I want to be here all that long, my brother and also my best friend is getting married this June end but unfortunately I can’t travel home because I have no one to leave my kids with plus I also don’t have leave at work so that means I’m missing those two weddings of two important people in my life. I am just tired!

Of all things African could adopt from the West i think we only focused on taking the ones that really wont help eg religion. South Africa has problems to name a few crime n corruption and some people believe we must “pray”. African wake up!

We also have Amazon now ( granted this vid was made a year ago ) . . . licenses can also be done online no problem. Same for shopping groceries. Lived in the UK from 2000-2008 and now back for 16 yrs already - shees !. I do miss it some days.

To give you an idea of how much better the weather is in SA , Bournemouth has an average of 90 sunshine days a year( best in uk) Durban has an average of 320 sunshine days a year(worst place in SA) A sunshine day consist of any day with more than 8 hrs of sunshine.

I cant believe its a year either bro, I miss the good times before you headed back.

@@DaleReubin getting on better now, the new job has been so busy that I have had little chance for anything else, but loving it. Sounds like you had a busier year than I thought last year but its really good to see you thinking about releasing some new videos, its nice to see how things are going through the vids.

I say this multiple times to my son. You can give yourself each day 15 minutes of meltdown then you gotta go gangsta. Life is not easy and everybody are going through tough times. You got to choose your battles.

Yeah sure! I’ve used MyCarImport.co.uk and they’re great. It’s expensive but very difficult to do without help. Give them a call or email.

I have quite a few friends in the UK. Some like it but most dont. They moved to get away from the horrible things in SA and yet now things in the UK is worse in some respects.

I left Zambia 49 years ago for the UK. Studied in the Eastern Cape then went back to Zambia for 3 years. Couldn't settle. I settled, married a local UK girl, have 2 children. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever & don't miss the 🐂💩of Africa. I found the people here to be interested in me as a person, most are friendly & sociable if one makes an effort to integrate and not dwell on what was. New country new life chapter. The UK/Europe is/are not africa. Different lifestyles, work ethics etc. i wish you and your family well.

Thanks for your post. Every country has its downsides. People leave for whatever reason then some end up coming back. COL very high hete now. No load shedding in the pipeline. Im going to stick it out. Grass is never greener.........

Well Done Dale 👋..I left SA in 2001, 23 years ago. I was a independent Financial Adviser there. After doing a GAP year of all sorts of jobs, I saw an add at the back of a bus..Become a Bus Driver ( Never in SA). I passed the test & now 23 years later am part-time 2 day's a week. I certainly know the Journey you are on. Not an easy one. I will say the Global Economic picture is unstable at the moment, and the future unpredictable. I think SA is naturally morphing towards AFRICANISATION, and Anti-White. I would encourage you to stay in the UK & Travel a few times a year to get the Sun & Scenery.😀.

Africans don't hate white people on S.A. If we were, we should have done what Mugabe did. I am black and I have so many white friends. Only certain policians are painting us with the same brush. I learned a lot from one of my white friend. Since then I flourished.

Amazon ? In SA we have a lot more than in UK. Delivery is efficient and in 24 hrs but not more than a day > JBG ❤❤❤

I'm stressed out here in South Africa no work for my family members and friends it's always difficult just to get through a day...the strongest win at the end it would be better if everyone can get a job and live again but this will not be true for most of as.. guess just to die at the green river...but I just need to hold on for my family members

I moved to the UK 34 years ago with a wife and 3 kids. Loved SA but did not want to get stuck too old in Africa if things went wrong. Much of the analysis is broadly about right. Having said that, the uk has been so good to us, and we have a wonderful lifestyle in a beautiful part of Surrey and a second home in the Lake District. So easy to travel which we have and do extensively. 4 kids now grown up, married, and doing well. We visit Africa regularly but don't see even a temporary residency return due to the Titanic view expressed in the clip. Seems a great shame that the present ANC and its voters, by acquiescence, seem to be hell bent on squishing out the amazing place and potential of SA. Looking back i would say that moving to the uk is a long term decision which you have to guts out for a few years. If you're well qualified and 'make it' then you can escape the tougher aspects of living there and really enjoy it.

Will be having a cold Winter this year.. Compared to previous years... Research Sun ....!!!!

I went with my cuzzi yesterday to apply for a new passport. Could not get an appointment with home affairs for two months but managed to get one up in Pietermaritzburg. Got there early only to find out the home affairs had been off line since the day before. So had to come back home.🙈🙈😡

Cost of living can’t be compared. In Pta/Jhb you can get R750k two bed townhouse in secure complex or rent it R7500. Eating out at good restaurants, good meat, local travel are easily attainable to the middle class.

Hi Stephen, I don't really post on YT about my photography. I used to post to Instagram quite a bit but I lost interest after not being able to grow on that platform. I have a website but it's under construction at the moment. I don't get work from posting on social media so I've not seen a need to have that extra pressure.

I love living here in South Africa ( Cape Town) but I do worry about young people like yourself and younger - will they have a future here? Any change will be very, very slow.

When we kick out the WHO and WEF in SA, things will improve.
