What It Is Like to Live at Buckingham Palace

Ойын-сауық

What is life like in Buckingham Palace? That continues to be a bit of a mystery. As a royal residence and an official state building, Buckingham Palace operates in both private and public spheres. Buckingham Palace on the inside contains rooms designated for official purposes, with private apartments nearby for the queen and members of her family.
Living and working in Buckingham Palace comes with a variety of perks - staff enjoy everything from medical services to exercise facilities. Some of the challenges of the aging structure, including a leaking roof and falling detritus, may not seem like the ideal living situation, but as part of Buckingham Palace's history, these defects could just be considered part of the building's charm. The size and grandeur of Buckingham Palace exceeds general knowledge, and maybe even expectation, giving individuals living in Buckingham Palace access to much more than meets the eye.

It’s the Monarchs house - The Crown. And the renovation money is Crown money, not tax money. A monarchy works very differently than more modern governments. The Crown has a lot of income which usually goes to public goods, but Buckingham Palace needs a gut reno, it’s almost four centuries old and the heat doesn’t work.

No one is spouting nonsense with regard to said topic... In fact I believe I watched another video on a similar channel to this that chronicled the daily life of an employee of the royal family. They stated that the Queen enjoys a drink, and credits it greatly with helping maintain her health. I can certainly see the logic in that

Possible, she is known to enjoy a drink or two, and is known to have a champagne with her lunch and G&T with dinner. Excessive amounts that we're talking about here that would impair your ability to maintain composure at state functions and events or administrative duties however I would rule out. That would more likely be attributable to her mother, or sister, who was known to be quite the party animal. KInda makes sense when you consider as immediate family to the monarch, they wouldn't have much else to do, but have the means to live lavishly.. I doubt many people would choose to abstain from enjoying themselves when placed in the same situation .

I married a Brit as a student there in the late 80s. I was employed as a marble mason’s assistant. We got a job rehabbing a government building across the road from Buckingham Palace. We could look over the wall into the back garden where the queen would often hold events. Saw the changing of the guard often and witnessed a few military parades to escort dignitaries from Victoria Station. Saw the Queen herself, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles, and Princess Diana while working there. It was quite the experience for an American.

Though they are keeping it the same, as you mention it is being renovated at an amazing cost which are rightly picked up by the government. As you mentioned the queen does not own it, the royal family gave the crown estate to the government. I should point out the money the government makes from renting out the crown estate properties far exceeds the money given to the queen and the renovation costs combined.

The text is typed; and auto generated narration is “reading” aloud. It will “read” the Roman numerals as letters. A “text to voice” generator is common for those who make videos. In other words, it’s not a real human voice you are hearing. There are many different auto voices to choose from; male, female, with different accents too. What the creator should have done was type “..the second,” and not II. ☺️ hope that helps☺️

H.M. The Queen is well known not to favour Buckingham Palace as a residence, referring to it as "The Office" whilst Windsor Castle remains her preferred residence close to London. What is interesting to note however is that like so many of these palaces and even large country houses, the chief occupants in fact now live in comparatively small apartments compared to the overall size of the buildings. Apparently even at the Palace of Versailles, the last Royal occupants Louis XVl and his family actually lived in about 12 rooms..!!
