What It Is Like to Live at Buckingham Palace
Ойын-сауық
What is life like in Buckingham Palace? That continues to be a bit of a mystery. As a royal residence and an official state building, Buckingham Palace operates in both private and public spheres. Buckingham Palace on the inside contains rooms designated for official purposes, with private apartments nearby for the queen and members of her family.
Living and working in Buckingham Palace comes with a variety of perks - staff enjoy everything from medical services to exercise facilities. Some of the challenges of the aging structure, including a leaking roof and falling detritus, may not seem like the ideal living situation, but as part of Buckingham Palace's history, these defects could just be considered part of the building's charm. The size and grandeur of Buckingham Palace exceeds general knowledge, and maybe even expectation, giving individuals living in Buckingham Palace access to much more than meets the eye.

It’s the Monarchs house - The Crown. And the renovation money is Crown money, not tax money. A monarchy works very differently than more modern governments. The Crown has a lot of income which usually goes to public goods, but Buckingham Palace needs a gut reno, it’s almost four centuries old and the heat doesn’t work.

@@vbee3571 The Queen is known to drink at both lunch (champagne) and dinner (G&T). These are apparently her favourite drinks. It's been documented, and is fact. No one is spouting nonsense with regard to said topic... In fact I believe I watched another video on a similar channel to this that chronicled the daily life of an employee of the royal family. They stated that the Queen enjoys a drink, and credits it greatly with helping maintain her health. I can certainly see the logic in that
@J3diMindTrix

Possible, she is known to enjoy a drink or two, and is known to have a champagne with her lunch and G&T with dinner. Excessive amounts that we're talking about here that would impair your ability to maintain composure at state functions and events or administrative duties however I would rule out. That would more likely be attributable to her mother, or sister, who was known to be quite the party animal. KInda makes sense when you consider as immediate family to the monarch, they wouldn't have much else to do, but have the means to live lavishly.. I doubt many people would choose to abstain from enjoying themselves when placed in the same situation .
@2:52 - I met Princess Anne once in Lexington, KY, USA at a horse show event called "Rolex KY Three-Day Event." What a wonderful woman. She was so down to earth and just loved people. She didn't flaunt her royalty status. She acted and wanted to be treated just like everyone else.

Saw the changing of the guard often and witnessed a few military parades to escort dignitaries from Victoria Station. Saw the Queen herself, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles, and Princess Diana while working there. It was quite the experience for an American.

H.M. The Queen is well known not to favour Buckingham Palace as a residence, referring to it as "The Office" whilst Windsor Castle remains her preferred residence close to London. What is interesting to note however is that like so many of these palaces and even large country houses, the chief occupants in fact now live in comparatively small apartments compared to the overall size of the buildings. Apparently even at the Palace of Versailles, the last Royal occupants Louis XVl and his family actually lived in about 12 rooms..!!
I would love to see you do a video like this about some of the historical mansions in the southern United States that are now Museums with all of the original furnishings and architecture as well as the original art and draperies ! Please include the name of the historical families that lived in them!

She likes Walkers Shortbread.. Well, I've got that in common with the Queen!
Great job as always! You should do a video about what it's like to live in the Kremlin

I imagine living there is pretty rough, if your name is Andrew.

On the back of certain products you can buy in your local grocery store in the UK it actually will say on the back if it's used by the British royals. I believe Marmite spread, Coleman's Hot Mustard and Branston Pickle (relish) have this printed on their labels.
They may not redecorate, but there's no doubt there's a lot of repair work ongoing. That building is not just falling apart.
This subject about other famous people would be great! 👍
