Sorry but try reading asylum law before spouting nonsense. The law has nothing say about where asylum should be claimed, asylum seekers are free to claim in any country they choose that's the law. Now if Patel wants renegoiate The 1951 Refugee Convention she welcome to try but until she does that's the law.

I'm just curious how you get around the point that several watchdogs have pointed out that there is now no legal way for people from certain countries to get to the UK and seek asylum? Does that matter to you? Do you believe that we should, as a country, close the door to some of the most vulnerable people in the world? I understand that the numbers of people who have a genuinely strong case for asylum may constitute a lower proportion of the people actually crossing the Channel. But how do we know who they are until they actually get here? I just find myself having to ask the question - do you think there is anyone on earth with a genuine claim to asylum in the UK? Or would you be happy to close that door forever?

@@frogandgauge True refugees are not picky about the country they want to escape too. They would also consist equally of women and children which these boats never do. They also do not have £2-10K for the trip which is higher than the average savings in the UK. Especially 18 to 29 year old which 40% have no savings at all in the UK. So, what if there are real refugees who are male between ages of 18 and 29 coming across on a boat? Not something that keeps me up at night personally because its not happening to the extent some like to claim. When someone seeks asylum in the UK after passing though multiple safe countries, its like saying, why arent we feeding the starving our KFC when they have already turned down Mc Donalds, Burgers king etc etc. A real starving person doesn't travel thousands of miles past Burger King to get KFC! Simple.

They flew back like 5% of them to Haiti. I agree with Boris Johnson. Perhaps Joe Biden can take some notes. Our resources are finite. Rwanda is a beautiful country who are welcoming the illegal immigrants with open arms. Anyone who is against the groups of refugees going to a country who is welcoming them, are racist for not wanting them to go to an African country. We are all lucky for such a beautiful region in Africa to welcome so many. Thank you Rwanda for your generosity.

Not really. in real terms Patel has ended up looking stupid, 137 letters where sent notifying asylum seekers they where being sent to Rwanda which as of today only 8 are due to be flown out as the other 129 have been found to have well founded cases and are not liable to re-location. The is an extremely expensive waste of public money which is illegal under international law but is also not capable of actually achieving its stated aims.

If anybody has a better idea than it would be great to hear it. The UK cannot take everybody, where is the money coming from for improving our infrastructure for schools, policing, hospitals etc, etc, etc. The values of a lot of these is different to ours and we are being forced to lower our standards rather than them raising theirs. A lot of these people don’t want to integrate and we are classed as the bad guys. We are expected to change. WHY?

they have paid 120 million to Rwanda two years ago and since another 300million so so far 420 million and they want more?? What are they actually getting for the money? This money is much needed in the U.K. to help the indigenous people not pay for the rest of the worlds problems.

The politicians won't stop this, then the people will have to protect their country!!

It’s supposed to just tell us the news. We don’t care about about how the person that reads it out feels. It’s propaganda for the left. The BBC has only ever been one way. It was a clear biased reporting of the matter, it was scripted and played out to make Boris look like the bad guy, did you not notice he gave reference to 2 sources opposing the Rwanda plan before reflecting on Boris response, the BBC should be balanced and they should have given other sources too that support the Rwanda plan, it seems the BBC has a habit of forgetting the public pay for them and they are bound to give a balanced and neutral reporting of such matters.

You have to look at resources. There isn't enough housing for the people of Britain and their isn't enough housing in Britain for the people of Britain and international community as well. If the international community came to live in Britain then the price of housing would be so high that the people of Britain wouldn't be able to get on the housing ladder.

Rwanda is a great country.

We should be tough on illegal immigration. We would be much better putting money into helping the source countries create employment, and keep these people in their home countries to improve their lives there. That's why cutting the overseas foreign aid budget was so short sighted. They have being told get to the Uk at all costs, it has the best benefits etc. Most of the immigrants arriving on boats dingys etc are young men aged between 18 and 30. They don't fit the definition of refugees, rather they are economic migrants coming from a safe country, ie France. One of the main reasons many people voted for brexit, was the ability to control immigration. It's time to get real and implement the policy we voted for.

The actual population of the UK is 67 million with a population density of 281 Km2 compared to 525 Km2 for Rwanda which makes claims of the country being full a bit rich. Oh and by the way we currently have more jobs vacant than unemployed people to fill them. So I suggest your the one who needs to justify their position.

This is migration not asylum seeking. Same issue in Canada, paying tons to house, feed and cloth people that cannot contribute to society while the homeless and working poor have to wait or denied services because the system is over burdened. I have no issues with actual refugees but migration no. Better to settle with folks who have commonality.
